What can be done about this

What can be done with this without repainting? Hood and roof are like this. It's my dads truck used around the house and to pick up building supplies. I figured it would give me something to practice on and I cant really hurt it much more.
 
Clear coat failure looks like. Not much to be done short of a respray.
 
Is there a way to get rid of big white spots? Should I just put some sealant or something on it to keep it from further damage?
 
It looks toasted. Tell dad to get it repainted or just deal with it. It might be time for dad to consider getting a new ranger when Ford releases them again in the next year or two.
 
I guess you could practice body working skills, maybe sanding and painting? But there is isnt anything you can do with car care products.
 
That's exactly what i would do. Remove the hood and make my best effort at restoration...sand and repaint. It certainly wouldn't match the rest of the truck condition wise but i would like the experience to see what i could do for Dad and go from there. I think Jaretr1 said it best...there is nothing that car care or appearance products can do with that.
