What canopy size to buy?

Only thing Walmart seems to have available is the 10 X 10 one in Canada ;( I am thinking of buying 2, this way I can use one for small vehicles and if I have to do something larger I could install both. That is a lot of room in the van, so I would have to re-organize things.... but at 90 CAN$ each it's not a lot of money. Also if one breaks, I would have a backup. I read in the comments they are kind of flimsy... so I don't know how long they would last.

@sudsmobil and @UncleDavy...how do you keep these things on the ground? I live where the wind blows...30-40mph is normal and I don't bat an eye it. Curious how the legs stay planted. Sandbags? Weights?

I purchased the Caravan Canopy Sports Caravan Weight Plates along with the canopy. They come four in a box and each weight is 6 lb. They are easily stackable and fit nicely on the foot of the canopy. Thanks for reminding me about this. I just ordered another set.

If you get a chance, could you snap a picture of the weights installed...how many do you think you could stack?

The only picture I have is when I used the one box of weights. There is one weight on each leg but they are stackable with pegs that fit into holes of the weight underneath. I would imagine that you could easily stack 4 or 5 on each leg.

That's good to know. Thank you for the info

Have you tried to fill 4 buckets of water, place each leg into each bucket, and bungee cord the leg to the bucket? Each bucket with about 4 gallons of water should weigh 30-35 pounds.

Had to order the 16 X 16, only one available now and online only ;(

For weights I am not sure what do to. I saw sand bags on Amazon. Or I could go with buckets filled with water but that is kinda time consuming, filling each bucket and all. Do those things tend to catch the wind much? Would sand bags be enough?

Depends on the wind in your area.

One guy in So Cal can't use a canopy cuz his winds are pretty strong, and often(?). I've been mostly lucky with occasional light winds. It's scary when you start seeing a small lift in the canopy, though. I've used jack stands in the past.

I recently did order proper canopy weights though. 10lbs each, total of 4 weights.

Ok. Will look to get 10 pounds weights then. I wonder if I could use my weight training Weider plates... I never use them :)

12x12 CANOPY. Straight leg. Make sure it’s 144sq ft.

Had to get the 16 X 16. Only thing that was available.

It's a little big to setup alone, but it's doable. Bonus is that is covers even a mini-van completelly. And I have more shade on the sides. So it's all good ;)

I had a 10 x 20 but it was heavy and a PITA to set up. Now use a 10 x 10 and it works great
