That's exactly what I'm doing! I thought I was just going to pick a coating fast and soon realized I"m just gonna have to wax the car after all the polishing is done and then strip the wax in a couple wks when I have the coating selected. I didn't even know how work intensive the 1st step polish was going to turn out. I thought "eh with this DA machine its gonna be a breeze" And then I saw how every section needed more than 1 pass =x lol its kicking my ass and I'm in my 20s haha Looking fwd to the results tho!
At least one benefit with a sports car like a Corvette, there's no needing to climb upon ladders like tall SUVs and Pickup Trucks. But then you have your work cut out for you "low" and that can be painful as well when on the ground, getting up and down, scooting around to move as you go. A good piece of remnant carpeting from a Carpeting Business come in handy at times.
And often it is not easy to see when working low. That's when good lighting on a stand surely helps to see what you're doing. Due to a loss of comfort levels, it then becomes easy to want to rush through the processes. Applying pressure to a DA Machine at such awkward positions usually does take its toll on the muscles, the arms, and the back-shoulders.
My old adage is to remember "Rome wasn't built in a Day". If the car is not currently a daily driver, that would be beneficial, then one can break up and divide areas, and processes.
It wouldn't be the first time that I had easily spent a month give or take when doing the initial detailing upon purchase of some of the Sports Cars I've owned, such as the White '67 Stingray Convertible, and Lemans Blue '68 SS396 Camaro I once owned and pampered.
I can recall spending literal hours on end with removal of certain trim parts, the Hood Louvers and Grill, Lights front and back on the Camaro, the cleaning up and detailing to the nines of Door Jambs which are often neglected, Hood Hinges, inside of hood, trunk, etc. The removal of past Wax products which at times can be extremely difficult to remove without damage to paint, and trim.
Looking over a vehicle, and seeing such loss of attention to the things I mention above surely do accumulate to detract from the overall condition of an older classic vehicle.
In my first pic, you see the Camaro with no Caps or Trim Rings installed. I had just completed re-spraying all wheels in the proper Argent Silver Metallic in that particular pic. That alone took me 3 days to properly do to the best of my abilities.
