Hi guys. I have an HF DA polisher and a number of pads including ccs orange light cutting. I am looking to buff out some scuffs and scratches on a friends car. They scraped the car in a parking lot. I am wondering what the best compound I could use to take out these scratches (at least the ones that are only on the clear coat)? I don't want to wet sand.

I have been thinking about Meguires M105??

Also I have a cheaper Meguires 'Ultimate polish'. Can I still use that to follow the M105 (instead of having to by the higher spec m205 polish)?

Thanks, appreciate your help!
Mark.

From my experience, I really like the 105/ 205 combo. It's an awesome pair! I also have the "Ultimate Compound" and the "Ultimate Polish" and they're both pretty decent from being able to bought OTC.

Depending how bad the scratches are, you might need m105, or uc. UP is a little less aggressive than m205. But like lunch box said, you cant go wrong with m105/m205.

What's the difference between the Meguires Ultimate Compound and the M105? I hear people say the m105 is harder to wipe off and has a lot of dust. Can you still get the same results with the UC if you work a little longer with it?

Meg's Ultimate Compound is a like a mixture of 105/ 205, but not as aggressive.

Don't under estimate U Compound. It will remove 2000 grit sanding marks quit nicely. not as quickly as 105, but it will.

One thing nice about UC, cost. For many folks, a quart bottle is, well, just too much product both in price and quantity. Whereas, UC is about $10 for a bottle (15oz).

Just my 2¢.

I use megs M100. It is cheaper than 105, cuts better, finishes better, and dusts less.

I have the UC and it has always removed swirls etc. I have noticed though that i have to use a lot of passes/time with the DA to take out scratches and especially on black paint. Would I be better off with the m105 for specifically taking out deeper scratches?

Meg's UC is a basic combination of a cutting and polishing compound. If you need something more aggressive. Like 105/ 205 or like VP said, 100 is a like the UC, but better.

Keep Calm & Chive On

Ok thanks. Think I will try the m105. Do I just wipe it off with a towel like I've always done with the UC after buffing?

Yep.

You might find that M105 is a little more tough to remove but it comes off.
