Hey everyone , I have a paint correction I'm working on . It is a 2012 dodge ram long horn, black . I went with m205 on a orange lc flat pad as my polish and had great results . I had some black fire gep laying around so i was like hey ill use this as my finishing polish . I worked it like the directions said using a black lc pad on my gg6 on speed 4 . But i noticed some haze looking marring in the finish afterwards .My halogen lights did not pick this up but may led did. I have not finshed the truck yet so im looking for some help. Thank you
 
Your likely using too much GEP. I noticed the same thing with WG PPE. Either I was using too much or the heat from the machine was drying it out. It left a "haze" on the paint, which was product that was a PIA too remove. Your options are:

1. Repolish area with 205, and just skip GEP

2. Use GEP by hand

3. Try GEP again on a softer finishing pad using less product

4. Try a different paint cleaner product like Amigo, which I guarantee will leave no haze.
 
So I should just do a quick finishing polish with the 205 . What if i go back over it with less gep will that help at all?
 
Useing megs I usually start with the 105 orange or yellow depending how bad the swirls are, then follow with the 205 on a white pad, 105 speed between 5-6, 205 speed 4-5, always making sure your pads are clean. Changing pads or cleaning pads on the fly.
The Optimum hyper polish is an excellent product, its been my kind of go to product, if I were you Id look into it . Itys very easy to work with and it works.
 
I found the Paint to be soft so i did i test spot and received good results with the 205 . I didnt find a need to go with m105 .
 
GEP is primarily a paint cleaner. If your using M205 you don't really need it. It also has a glaze to it, but it's an extra step I would skip.
 
Ok so now I guess im going to go back over the whole Truck . Since ive done did m205 in A 6 sections Pass with the orange pad . Then what should i go for now.
 
Since M205 is a SMAT polish, you should only have to polish enough to remove the haze. If it's truly product, like I think it is, 1 or 2 passes should be all it takes. This is why you have to do a test spot and inspect it whatever you are doing, as it can save a lot of time. Washing with a strong stripping type soap may remove it as well.

When it happened to me I only did the hood and used another paint cleaner (Amigo) to fix it.
 
Should I go with black or white and pad?

Likely either is fine, but if your just cleaning up product haze, I would go with a softer black pad.
 
How does it look in sunlight? LED is less forgiving so it might look worse, might not be something that needs to be fixed.

Haven't pulled it out in the sun yet. I'll start back on it tomorrow. Like I said it dosent show up in the halogens either. They are 1200 luminescent. I the led is just a head lamp that is 120 luminescent. Haven't used the brinks men spot finder yet it 30p luminescent.
