What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

All the new products worked great tonight, including the Griot's Garage wash pad, really enjoyed using IT!

I also tried the new Meg's ceramic spray wax, just on the wheels this time. It sprays out rather thick and smells like a bomb pop! I sprayed all 4 wheels and THEN rinsed off, came out great in both shine as well as beading. One issue was the sprayer, it leaked all down the trigger, NOT a fan! This took away from the experience for sure and I plan on calling Megs about this issue.

As you can see the Gyeon Q2 tire has held up to time, rain and soap & scrub, BIG FAN!"!

That’s nothing... I polished a car today with HD Speed. Have you ever used HD speed? Worst cap dispenser of any polish! The damn thing clogs up all the time! I had to unscrew it [I always wind up having to] and pour it out from the bottle... I ended up pouring way too much, like half a pads worth, and then had to dab blotches of polish around the car for later use because it was so much.

That sucks and yes, I have the product but haven't used it yet, thanks for the heads up!

I’ve been meaning to put it in a different bottle.

About 2.5 hours till the FNW, have some new products to try out, image that, LOL!

For the pre-wash I'm using up the Pearl that's in the IK Foam 9, pretty happy with that product so far. Now for the 2BM and yes, it needs it as it was driven in the rain the other day, I'm reaching for my just arrived from overseas Bilt Hamber auto wash. I guess this stuff is super concentrated and I'm going to start with .5 ounces for 3 gallons and see how it goes. I'm also need to try the new Meg's ceramic spray wax, so the wheels are getting some of that, really looking forward to seeing how that is, stay "tuned"....

How did it work with the Bilt Hamber Auto-Wash?
It's 1:2000 dilution. So for 3 gallons only 0,2oz is needed. That is some crazy dilution LOL.

I use a flairosol bottle with Sonax BSD which seems to be as thick as the Megs Ceramic Wax. And are going to test Sonax Spray and Seal in a flairosol bottle next time I will use it. Think that the fine mist and the more even spreading you can get. Would suit those spray on rinse off products good I think.

@SWETM. How’s your experience been using the Sonax Spray & Seal on your wheels? I’ve been trying it on the vehicles here at home and I can’t see any great difference. HBU?

I looked at them yesterday and was noticeing they are looking cleaner than useally at this time. It's the heavy road salt on the roads time hear and wet roads almost always here now. And it's little over a month ago I put them on and not been able to wash the car since then. Think they have a little darkening effect on them too. But the experience with Wet Coat is they get very crispy looking. So maybe the looks is not that different.

On the Ford Focus I maintain I put on the Spray and Seal on the paint a month ago. But on that I have not noticed it to have a better self cleaning ability than Wet Coat. What is quite impresive is that even when the paint is very dirty. It's still beads great. Maybe a little less build up on the side panels. The hatch is an accumulate of dirt build up on those car. So that's what I'm seeing LOL. Will be intresting to when I get a chance to wash the cars again and how it has stand up to getting bonded dirt.

So far I'm satisfied with Spray and Seal. Will know more when I wash them next. Depending on how the prewash goes. If I get it clean enough from it I will be testing to wash with Sonax Wash and Seal. And see if it ads some protection and I don't need to be applying the Spray and Seal afterwards too.

Well it did sud up pretty good but I ended up with 3.5 and later sprayed a bit more to reactivate it. By the time I used it the suds were ok and I've learned that suds aren't the be all end all when it comes to cleaning. At the ratio I used on this wash the Griot's Garage wash pad slid across the car just fine, so i feel it was fine. The next go around I'll see what .75 ounces does. This product wasn't cheap either, between the price and shipping it was $28.00, curiosity does indeed have a price, LOL.

Thanks for the reply. I might use it today on a black car that has protection that’s due for a refresh of some kind. It just depends on whether I get out there early enough because this stuffs not supposed to be used in the sun, right?

Getting ready to do a wash on the wife's Mazda 6 in about an hour. This time around I'm using a "new to me" product, CG's Glossworkz. I'll be using it as the pre-wash in my IK Foam 9 as well as in the 2BM. It also looks like TW Endura is holding up nicely, as expected but the other side, not so much and its Griot's Garage Black Shine tire gel. I mean it's not brown but I'm going to see how it looks but to be honest, it's not a tire coating like TW Endura tire coating is...stay "tuned".

The wash is done on the wife's Mazda 6 and I'm very impressed with CG's Glossworkz! I ended up using 1.5 oz in the IK Foam 9 and 2 ounces in the wash bucket, I probably could've went with 1 oz in the IK, next time. The amount of foam produced was great, did not expect that due to it having gloss enhancers in there, CG's really has their soaps dialed in!

I used leftover carwash soap from my car to clean the tires and wheels, worked great and I ended up recycling the leftover Glossworkz for next time, why not! I dried the tires and wheels and moved the car back into her spot so the tires could dry further as well as having a dry area to apply the TW Endura tire coating, want to build up a good base here.

Drying the car with The Sucker was easy and I must say the gloss is noticeable here, good name for this product. I will say while it looks great in the pics it needs a massive detail, maybe when it hits 200K...wait, that's in 91 miles

Booked two deal, both an interior detail and an exterior detail. These will be kicking off my 2019 sessions! Both are new vehicles, getting coatings, one on leather the other on the paint.

Yeah those spray on rinse off products don't like to be applyied in the sun. It could be possible with Sonax Spray and Seal though. If you are able to cool of the panel with water first. And apply panel by panel or half a panel. Work in small sections. It's thick to be a spray on rinse off product. So it maybe not dry so fast as a Sio2 based one. And maybe dry the panel after application so you don't have leaved some product left. Or be very thorough when rinsing it off. This is one thing I do either way to be very thorough when rinsing it off. Then it's up to the temperature you have. If you risk to let the water left after rinsing to dry on the car.

I have not tested this with Spray and Seal. But there are options to apply this SORO products. The benefit is a more even coverage and less product and accually a little longer durability from it. The downside is that it takes a little longer time to apply it. With the method I used when applyied Gyeon Wet Coat it don't take much more time. I used a damped mf applicator sponge and sprayed 2-3 sprays high on the panel. Spread the product out on the panel with just one pass. And rinse off directly after this and move on to the next panel. Apex detailing chanel use a method with Meguiars new Ceramic Wax. Where he use a damped foam applicator and spread it out like a sealant on dry paint. And work an 2×2 section and buff it off with a mf towel. I have seen Forensic Detailing Chanel do it this way too with Wet Coat and a damped mf applicator sponge. It seems like the little water in the damped or just so it's not dripping is enough to activate the bonding reaction from these products. Think that Meguiars recommend to dry the car instead of rinsing it off when doing the first application of Ceramic Wax.

Then I totaly understand if you apply it on a customers car you don't want to do different methods than what says on the bottle. And this goes with applying it in the sun too. I have seen some horrific applications gone wrong. Where they left it on too long when they have done larger area than a panel and some that has forgotten to rinse it off. The high spots they got on their cars covered the whole area where they did not rinse it off or forgot it. And the PITA to polishing it off didn't seem fun at all to do LOL. I got a problem when my old PW didn't start when I was going to rinse 1 panel off. Man the panic I got LOL. Fast switched to the hose nozzle and rinse it off. It where summer and I was working in the shade. Think I was very close to it where starting to be high spots. It where a little more difficult to rinsing it off. But no high spots puuh. So don't try to strech the area you spraying it on to. The hassle to get the high spots off is not worth it. And look out if it's windy when you apply it and see if you get overspray from spraying it on. I rinse a around the panel I apply to so I'm certain to get all of the product off. Know it seems like it's hard to apply LOL. But if you have the flow it's fast and easy to apply and safe. And also to reapply it is so easy and fast. Then 2-3 months of solid protection it's an easy way to maintain it. Have heard with the other methods to apply it you can get 4-6 months out of it. I will be testing the no rinse method when I'm able to :)

Tried out my new order of 303 Trim restorer and protectant. What a disaster. It is so watery. I read that I should just take top off bottle and apply to applicator that way. Had a horrible time with it. I prepped trim with a good scrubbing of purple power and then a IPA wipe. And the washed the car. After the first application, 303 was so streaky. I tried to buff the first coat with no luck. So I tried a second coat. Still horrible streaky results. I could be that I was applying to heavy but I don’t know how to get less on the applicator since it is so watery. Finally said the hell with it a grabbed my tried and true favorite DG 271. Added a coat on top and the trim was perfect. Damn I can just kick myself when I go away from the products that always work well for me.

The Sonax Spray & Seal worked flawlessly on that black car today. Perfect timing as the owner happened to come outside just as I was getting ready to apply it... He came out to ask me what I had used on the paint before that made it look really good and helped it stay clean.. I couldn’t think of what it was but it was the perfect time to show him how fast I was about to apply “wax” to his car. He was impressed! Lol.

He was like “how the hell does that work like that”? I said “this is the good stuff”! Lol.

Nice tip for me.
