What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Not just today (more like 25 hours over the recent holiday weekend and this past week), but here is my friends ‘68 Nova that I just finished. 35 year old single stage paint that was a real PITA to correct. No “before” pics of all the swirls and scratches, but here are a few of the “afters”…

Ended up doing a 3 step correction with Polish Angel Compound on LC Hybrid Wool, followed by Polish Angel Polish on LC Orange Foam, and finished with Essence on LC Black Finishing Pads. The total number of pads used was about 30! LSP is PA Primer Spritz, 2 coats PA Cosmic Spritz, and 1 coat PA High Gloss.

It’s now a show car again.

Yeah I know, you would have done it differently but I don’t care because my results speak for itself when you see the car in person . Have a nice weekend everybody!
That's one of my absolute favourites, but we just don't see them in the metal over here. Thank you for sharing.

So this morning I needed something to do. I applied KSG 2 weeks ago and liked the involvement of "wax on, wax off", plus I used my screen name namesake. This morning I reached for another "old friend"...TAC system 1 step Master. This product is 20-25% Sio2 content and worked great as I remembered. IIRC they pulled out of the U.S. having started in California and then moving to Wisconsin but I'm not entirely sure about their current status here

Once I was done and after I took the pics I sprayed CG's Black Frost in the interior and applied Gyeon Tire to the hoops. It's threatening to rain, oh well it will just sit there and bead up and look good

Paint on my Mustang was a bit cloudy on the roof and hood. I polished it last summer and put a coating of EXOV4 on it in hopes to prevent or slow the oxidation down. Didn't seem to help.

Decided to bring the gloss back with some ultimate polish and white pad. Topped it with a coating of Griots 3-in-1. Don't look too close, still lots of scratches, but I think they are below the repaint layer so there they stay until I can find the time (and place) to attempt a repaint (something on my 'bucket list' for the car).

Is that his garage? It’s F’in amazing. Love all the cars but you put that Nova on a next level.

Question on the plates. Why are they two different colors?

looks good, bet that curb rash sparked alot of expletives lol

Normal routine wash Saturday. Then mid summer coat of TWHS spray coating this morning. Good to go. Also cleaned engine Saturday. Blackfire engine degreaser followed by Sonus motor kote.

So it rained on the ES last night and for a good chunk of today but cleared up and bit and after watching England v. Italy ️ I decided to just foam/dwell/rinse/dry the car. For this I used P&S Pearl in my CG's foam gun. I dried the car w/ The Gauntlet, windows with Adam's white waffle weave and my mini Master Blaster for the tires/wheels, jams and grill. Used DG WW to simply swipe the tires.

I did a small load of mf towels to finish things off today

Tried Gyeon Ceramic Detailer for the first time on top of existing wet coat after a wash. Works extremely well. No streaking, easy to apply. Windows too.

Yes, this is my shop building where I store my Riviera collection and detail cars.

The license plates are another interesting story. In our state you can pay a one time registration fee for “collector” plates on a car that is 20 years old or older. Klasse is right, you only need to display one of those plates on the rear to be “legal” to drive on roadways.

The day I finished the Nova I also went to a huge multi day swap meet that happens annually about 150 miles from me. I happened to be thumbing through some vintage personalized license plates (that first became available in my state in 1980) and came across a matched pair that said “68SGR8.” What are the chances? Ironically, yellow plates with black lettering are also the same color plates that were issued in our state in 1968. I had to buy them and put them on the front of the car before I gave it back to the owner!

Fortunately he loved it and was thrilled when he picked up his car. It sure makes you feel good when you can make a fellow “car guy” happy… especially someone who really deserves it .

That was an awesome and thoughtful gift. Good on you.

I have same set up in WA. Rear only collector plates. Was way to much and wasn’t expecting when I bought the car but when I always wanted the car for years having a “collectors plate” was part of it
