What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Wash time for the FJ today. I started with Wheely Clean on the wheels, now that I've got the alloys back on I can actually see it working. Next was a 2B wash with Reset, foam wasn't going to work this time, whatever was on the paint hadn't been removed by 4 inches rain last week, so a contact wash was required, the rinse bucket caught plenty of dirt, mostly from the wheel wells. After rinse off I moved it back inside for drying. I did the windows first with Clarify Phobic, glass has to be first as it dries and waterspots so fast at the moment. Dried the paint with the assistance of Ech2o. Rain and storms predicted tonight, but that wasn't going to stop me.

My God Dave that rinse water

Who's grit guard is that, looks like a future Rotiform wheel design

It was a snow day or better yet, an ice day since snow has skipped over my area for the second time in two weeks. I decided to give my wife’s SUV a much needed winter cleansing. I have no idea what happens in this vehicles, which is a glorified garage queen that barely sees the light of day since my wife works at home but she has the miraculous ability to turn the interior into a crime scene in record time. After a long morning with lots of dirty MF towels, various cleaners and lots of steam the interior looks just as good as it did when we drove it from the dealership 7 years ago. DIY RW on the exterior with Cure diluted 1:1 for a drying aid and here we are. She still refuses to pay me for my services because she birthed my children blah blah blah so I may have to drop this client.

Booked 1 hr @ The Bays Wheeling for a much needed carwash, plus a soul cleanse from the brutal cold temps at work this week! Doing what I love to do makes all that a distant memory

Details and a pic or two later...IT'S FRIDAY

I think some of these wheel designers do this because they hate me
They do look nice afterwards
I know what you mean, kinda but for you it's work, for me it's just something I had to have and having the variety of tools makes it fun & easy

What did I do today in regards to detailing? I had to order a new backing plate for my Flex 3401. I put it away carelessly and delaminated the edge of the velcro on the backing plate (the foam crumbled, I guess it's almost 18 years old now). I'm sure it would have been fine still if I had been more careful.

I remember those, anything mesh is a PITA
They actually look pretty good, considering I used to clean them with P21S gel and squeeze the sponge that came with it into EACH nook and cranny. This was before brushes were invented. I'm actually not sure how I would clean them now, nothing really fits into those small spaces.

Wheel Woolies

Wheel Woolies
That car was gone before Wheel Woolies, and even the smallest one wouldn't fit into the spaces close to the lug nuts. The really small ones were closed off in the back, so not so much brake dust, but the even the smallest open ones I don't think the small Wheel Woolie would go in there. I haven't had to clean those wheels in 20 years, it's a little foggy now.

The Bays Wheeling Spa Day

It's been a good, long while since the EN has been washed, too cold, snow, cold, snow...wash, rinse, repeat...ENOUGH

I booked an hour today, after work and couldn't wait to get there. Your told to arrive early and the nice thing about this, arrive 10 mins early, get in early, more time is productive time

The EN was covered in salt, tires and wheels were nasty, wheelwells caked...all of it, let's get to it shall we! I chose wisely for condition of the EN:

Tires & Wheels:

-Gyeon Tire Cleaner
-CarPro WheelX
-Pure:est S1 spray on, hose off
-ADS Ghost tire coating
-New brushes

Car Wash:

-3 oz of CarPro Descale
-1 oz of 303 salt neutral wash
- 28 oz of water in the foam cannon
-3 oz of Feynlab PURE wash 2BM

I started with the tires & wheels and as you can clearly see the active ingredients got to work right away. I then grabbed all 4 of my specific brushes and man did they do a great job, something about new, quality tools to do the job right

Once tye tires & wheels were done it was time for the pre-wash. I chose Descale due to the salt/grit on the paint but added the salt neutral wash boost from 303 combined here, came out great, totally knocked it out, looked like there was nothing left but ofcoarse the 2BM was next

The 2BM wash was 3 oz of Feynlab PURE wash and IF, big IF anything was left after the dwell/rinse of the Descale/303 salt neutral wash, this Feynlab PURE wash just left the EN's paint squeaky clean

Next was Pure:est S1 on the wheels, grill and front area, lower side skirts and rear valance and CF exhaust tips. The wheels cleaned up well but I did use the "heavy artillery" on the wheels, plus the Descale, so there wasn't any beading but that's ok, they've been boosted since the application about 6 weeks ago! This Pure:est S1 is so easy to use, smells great from a product that is NEVER scented and leaves the wheels beading and glossy

The last thing was the EGO car dryer, Gauntlet towel and applying ADS Ghost to the tires, jams all dried up as well and then I was done...right at 4:00 p.m. CST

Now because of the salt dust laid down it's not going to look perfect for long but it's not all salt encrusted like it was in the first pic

The last pic is for comparisons sake, Amy's TAOS get it's turn tomorrow at my touch-free wash...stay "tuned"

Is this place you rent exclusively for washing your car or truck?
How many bays?

Yes and they've got 3 Bays, although 1 bay is down because the power washer needs some parts. There's also areas for post wash detailing/interior work complete with vacs/compressed air, tables to stay organized and PLENTY of 6K lights everywhere
