What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Finally got to my wife’s car. Been promising before I go back to work, and now it’s done. White has no wow factor, but she was pleased. It didn’t look this good when she picked it up new.

Decided to take 1/2 a day off work tomorrow...

Gonna be somewhat warm. The husband is away for work right now and has a car show this weekend so I'm going to clean up the Alfa for him ;)

You go Monica!

Took car in for warranty work. Spend all evening trying to get these off. “Hey make sure you don’t wash the car”

Canceled an order with another outfit. Told em not to try and kiss rear and make it better. Will not be doing business with them again. If the stuff I want was sold here that would make it a lot easier. Or if griots could figure out how to make a bottle hold up to their hellish surface prep. I mean if it eats the bottle what’s it doing to the rubber parts and trim on vehicles. Not sure I care to try it now

you have to make yourself some placards that you hang and tape to the car. My car is in for routine stuff and they know me as I'm the guy with the perfect black car that has two 4x6 placards, one taped to the dash next to the start button and the other taped to the driver side rear door window. Can't miss either.

I used to use one that hangs from the mirror but believe it or not, a customer of mine said they had it up and when returning they found it on the floor and the car washed regardless. So taping them and putting them in their face so to speak, it works.

My wheels bead because I apply the spray on, rinse off sealants about every 4-6 weeks, I have no reason to lie...or anyone else for that matter

I wasn’t trying to say you’re lying at all. I’m just saying that when it comes to beading on wheels it’s kind of hard to tell whether they’re beading because of product or just behaving as they normally do.

This next comment describes it perfectly and is pretty much what I’ve always thought in regards to beading on wheels.

I’ve tried McKee’s and hydro 2lite. Can’t say that I get much beading as most of the water runs off. I don’t know if it’s beading or sheeting but their definitely some hydrophobic protection. I get about 3-4 weeks in NW winter conditions.

IMO wheels always bead to some degree but I’ve never been overly impressed by the beading that’s able to be achieved on them because the water usually runs of them even without protection.

I’ve recently tried using Sonax Spray & Seal on the vehicles here at home and I saw no visible benefits from doing so, the wheels didn’t remain any cleaner and as a matter of fact I think they actually became dirtier faster. Ease of cleaning is irrelevant because I use a wheel cleaner regardless.

FWIW, I have been using PBL Wheel on mine for 3 years, and in that 3 years I have only used wheel cleaner at the most 5-6 times, and thats when I am going to reapply the coating. Most of the time just spray the wheels with the PW and wipe them with a RW, or if its been a minute soap and brushes, thats it. I will always have something on the wheels.

No I get it and usually hang one tape one to steering wheel. I’ll be correctin soon so thought a couple of towel marks, no big deal. Who the f*#k doesn’t at least dry a car. Never had a dealership do that

FrankenDetailer in the house! How much do you have left Monica? Also, did the 4C get an "Italian tune-up"?

I have 1/2 a bottle left.

LOL nah, I just pulled it back in the garage.
TRUST me, it doesn't need one... my husband drives that thing like he's being chased by Satan himself 100% of the time.

You know what time it is...FNW time

So for this wash tonight I mixed it up a bit. I started with using Auto-Fanatic foaming wheel cleaner in the engine bay, yes, the engine bay. I noticed dirt in the corners, it is painted in there and also has plastic and rubber bits and since the AF foaming wheel cleaner works on painted wheels and tires I went for it. I foamed everything down, let it dwell and rinsed down with the Worx hydroshot w/o 5he wand attached, less pressure. Once I was done I closed the hood and moved to the next step in the process.

I sprayed CG's Diablo on the wheel faces and barrels and 303 Tire and Rubber cleaner on the tires and wheelwells and let it dwell a bit. Pulled the Mothers Tire and wheel brush out of some leftover soapy water and scrubbed the tires down, then grabbed the Speed Master and got after the wheels, spokes, barrels and faces and rinsed down with the Worx hydroshot. Now it was time to wash the car.

For this I mixed up 3.5 gallons of Griot's Garage Brillant Shine rinseless wash, used 4 ounces of product. Dunked my 1000 ml Kwazzer in the solution and got to pre-treating, one section at a time. For wash media I reached for my old, trusty Aqua sponge, some of you long timers remember this tool I'm sure. I used the 2BM for this, just like using a mf wash mit. The car came out great and I used what was leftover in the Kwazzer to re-spray the entire car because I had one more "additional" step to do.

I've been looking at my IK 1.5L for quite some time, the one filled with Griot's Garage foaming Poly Gloss and I just had to use it and use it did. I emptied the entire bottle on the entire car, including the wheels, let dwell and rinsed down with the Worx hydroshot. I dried the entire car, crasy beads and all with a single Luxury microfiber towel, the Sucker and it's kinda cool down here, about 50 or so if I had to guess.

Once I was done I dried the engine bay and when I do my next wash I'll spray some Griot's Garage engine bay detailer in there, a really good product with a nice, satin finish that really lasts.

Even though the tires look great after the cleaning I decided to apply a single coat of 303 Tire Balm

So in the foamed pic of the car can you smell the strawberries through your screen The next pic is the car all dried off, awaiting 303 Tire Balm. In the 3rd and 4th pic you see the before and after of the tires and in the final pic and overall shot, thanks for looking!
