What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Id be more interested to know what work was performed, what methods, products, etc were used during all these uploads. I learn more from those type of details than from just a picture. Especially with 40+ years of detail experience, what a wealth of knowledge that could be shared.

Writing is not my thing.

Touch-free wash this morning before heading to the Chicago Auto Show...not driving it there though

I died a little on the inside looking at these buffer trails.
There used to be a used car yard in town that would do that to all of their cars. The owner had someone out back with a giant rotary polisher with those massive wool pads. But............................look how shiny the paint is!

Finished up this Bronco. Gyeon Syncro on the paint, CCI Advanced for the trim and ADS glass coating on the windshield. I followed Mike G’s installation instruction and that was the easiest glass coating I’ve ever applied. I don’t know why I have such a negative opinion of Syncro, despite loving Mohs because it was an absolute breeze to install this time.

After driving back last night from the CAS the road crews "went crazy" on the salt, a 25 minute drive home had the EN a crusty monster, the system didn't warrant THAT MUCH salt

I grabbed the IK Foam Pro 12, added 3 oz of Bilt-Hamber Touchless and 1 gallon of water, mixed it up and headed to the EN. Upon getting closer to the car I couldn't believe the salt, it was BAD, the coating was doing its job, infact there was dried up salt beads on the grill and lower sections, don't even get me started on the tires & wheels

So the pics after the wash were the only ones worth a damn because when I got home the amount of salt dust on the car sucked, atleast the standing crusty salt was removed, especially underneath the EN

One day closer to spring...

Yeah but the. You trade the salt accumulation for a daily coating of tree sperm. We’re currently in the NC season I call the “spring of deception” and I’ve already had my car covered in pollen and it’s only February.

Yeah pollen season sucks here too, I'd take it over salt dust season though, I mean does your cars turn yellow after driving home

I happen to be in Chicago this weekend. Just got back from the Shedd Aquarium. I did notice how much salt residue was on the road. It seemed excessive.

Yeah a couple days ago it was needed, not last night, ridiculous. Hope you enjoyed your visit, what else did you do while here

Just that. My Daughter, SIL and Grandson live in Logan Square. So we are just visiting. Going back to PA in the mourning.
Nice aquarium. My one year old Grandson loved it.

Down here in the south it actually does. It’s impossible to keep a clean car from mid March to April.

Decided to gather some real world durability data on how long Meguiar’s headlight coating lasts. I park next to this vehicle daily and cleaned up the headlights so that I can see how long they stay clear before starting to get cloudy again. It’s the perfect test vehicle since the only washing it receives in rain.

Optimus, great test--that was failed coating that you removed so the lens is bare to the polycarbonate?

I’m not sure I understand but I just removed the faded factory coating and applied Meguiar’s headlight coating. I’m letting it cure for 24 hours and tomorrow I’ll put a ceramic coating on top for additional protection and see how long it lasts.
