What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Hi folks, just popping in to say hello. I haven't really been here for a year or so, due to my Mom passing away, me breaking my wrist, and having traded in my GTI for a boring Jetta (that I frankly haven't much enthusiasm to detail). But we're recovering from the family loss, my wrist is on the mend, and the big news is that I have ordered a ruby red 2019 Mustang GT convertible. I am excited (to say the least,) to detail it when it arrives later this year.

I've been looking at all the new products that have come out in the last year, and WOW - there's lot's to catch up on - Sio2, hybrid waxes, etc.

Anyway, hope you all are doing great!

Welcome back and very sorry for your loss.

Yes, there is a lot of new stuff out there!

Got a break from the rain that was moving through so given it's going to be dry for a few more days, I rinseless washed my sons Jeep and mounted his new license plate :)

I decided to do a wash on the car this evening. I filled up the IK Foam 9 after putting in 2 ounces of CG's Gloss Workz and foamed the car down, tires, wheels and wells too. After letting it dwell for a bit I rinsed it off with the Worx hydroshot and dried with my Luxury Microfiber towel called The Sucker. When drying the tires and wheels I noticed that the tires still looked great, thank you

Now the car is ready for 2 fresh days in a row

Welcome to the club! Absolutely a blast. Just wish I would have gotten a manual. Have fun and slow down....

Pressure rinsed the wifes car. Then N914 rinseless washed as well as wheels and tires wiped with it. Then a heavy coat of Beadmaker, wheels wiped with beadmaker and tires got 2 coats of McKees sio2 tire shine. Ready for the shop tomorrow. View attachment 66202View attachment 66203

Did a quick correction on my mother in law’s new Sportage. Black Cherry is a beautiful color, but black combined with soft Kia paint is going to be a pain. Only did the drivers door due to time/cold, but one pass using a LC white foam pad on speed 4 with some HD Speed definitely did the trick. They must have run it through the car wash before we picked it up since the whole car looks like this with some deeper ones and holograms on the corners. At least it will be easy to correct once I get a chance.

(Tried it with a Griots orange foam pad first but it left marring. This paint is soft. Lol) Sorry for the craptastic pictures. I was in a hurry so I didn’t take out the swirlfinder and just used the camera light and sun.

Took the Q through a touchless wash then gave it a waterless wash in the garage last night. Final wipe down included using Bead Maker as a drying aid. I love the super slick feel it leaves on the car. No "new" pics as it's the same nearly every time. Perhaps I should back it in and take a pic :)

Now that's how a gloss should look!

Hope you don’t mind but I snuck in your garage, backed your car out and backed it back in. Here’s my pic as proof.

Was that brake dust or rotor rust from no pad on that wheel?

I know the history of his issues and the belt shredding. There's a reason he pulled his vids down from YT too. Not hard to figure out. He has since ditched his Red Sport in favor of the new Alfa. The only issue I've had with mine was a dead battery due to a fluke. Thankfully my VIN isn't impacted by the belt alignment issue.

A few others on the Q forums have had their belts go. One just the other day was after a tune and on the dyno. Ouch...especially when they just voided their warranty. From what nearly all of them note, they weren't even aware of the service bulletin. Not surprised that they then have had a failure. Pays to stay on top of things.

I can't speak to this comments about the alignment. Loose subframes, broken lower control arm bushings, a broken strut upper isolator mount possibilities are things that would be easily found and given he wrenches on cars he should easily be able to see them. Doubt any of that is true or he did something seriously wrong when modding it. Mine has been solid.

He seems like a cool guy. Talks as much as Scott from Dallas Paint Correction though. Very very similar in that regard.

Replaced the SPORT badge with the Turbo badge from the Veloster, my first mod

I know it doesn't seem like much but I'm very happy with this, looks sooo OEM as well.

It's his wife's car actually and yes, he does talk like Scott, must be a NY thing

First time I’ve drove a Jeep. Now I see why people flip these things.

haha! Ours is an older XJ so it's bigger/more stable but I know what you mean. After driving it for 1-2 days in either of our two other vehicles I feel like they are on rails and event "twitchy" on the straights. Amazing how far the steering and handling systems have come.
