What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

FWIW I've never done any maintenance to my Griot's machines Because of this exchange, I'm going down to the Garage and taking out a mark from my p/s fender!

You have to do maintenance on them just like you do maintenance on your vehicle.

The owner doesn't like me at all. I ran out of iron remover. So I stopped there to get some before my appointment. So he's selling it for $80 and it's completely trash. I was like is there a defect because it doesn't work and I sprayed it on my truck in front of him and he was like oh that's how it how its supposed to work. So I was like so it's supposed to do nothing is what you're saying? Then he was like I have a bunch of detailers come in here and I never had a issue. So I said I could care less how many detailers you have come in just because you can call yourself detailer doesn't make you a detailer. I spayed a small amount of carpro iron remover I had left next to the bull he's selling then I said or explain this or do you want to get one of your detailer buddies to explain it. So that really pissed him off. So he doesn't speak to me anymore but I also called him out for telling a customer to use bleach to remove a stain in the customers carpet. Keep in mind this is the same person that has the car show

Just did an engine bay wash. I am chasing an oil leak and decided to clean everything up so it's easier to trace. I'm thinking about doing a full wash now since I'm still outside but it's suppose to rain. I have been using beadmaker for the past two months and thinking of using my fresh bottle of optimum QD as drying aid instead of beadmaker since rain is expected. Has anyone had luck switching back and forth with beadmaker?

I've switch back and forth, Beadmaker doesn't last long anyways so it doesn't matter

I have a GG6 & GG3 and have had them for 8 yrs w/o an issue and I don't seem to see threads or posts about them going bad and/or issues like I do with Rupes. I got to try one years ago, don't remember the model but the machine is very smooth without a doubt but the fact of the matter is these machines always seem to have issues...and are very expensive as well
I’ve got one! I have a temperamental GG6 DA polisher due to either a bad on/off switch or bad wiring. It’s like a lazy person, it only works when it wants to, not when you want it to work. Tried getting it fixed a few years ago to no avail. I’d chuck it but like I said it still works, sort of.

My PC 7424XP just plain works and has never failed me.

Did you ever contact Griot's Garage directly about a replacement, it has a lifetime warranty

Yes with that lifetime warranty everything should be covered. Just give them a call

Speaking of Griot's Garage I did get down to the garage to remove this mark on my p/s fender that I would describe best as something rubber rubbed against it. I knew the GG3 and a yellow foam pad, combined with 303 Polish would take care of it and it did. I ended up doing half the fender actually and sealed it with CMX so it has something on it.

While I was down there I applied a single coat of Adam's Tire Armor, can't hurt as this week we're supposed to get alot of rain, better than the inches of snow we got yesterday...snow on April 27th, how stupid

Well, it took about 5 minutes to take out the mark, it wasn't anything major. Being I used the GG3 you can't put down too much pressure but it wasn't needed for this little fix, this little machine always does what I ask of it, just have to know what your trying to accomplish with it. Probably took about as long to apply CMX, let it sit and wipe off if I'm honest.

How was IGL Premier? I have a full bottle and haven't gotten around to using it yet? Did you notice an increase in Gloss? How was the beading or did it sheet?

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Pretty good. Application was easy, initial buff was a bit grabby which surprised me. Secondary buff was smooth. Very tight beading. I don't know if I'd say sheeting per day but a lot of the beads were rolling off the panel. Which I didn't experience before when using the powerlock/845 combo. As far as gloss I'm not sure. Definitely glossy but I don't know if I see a difference between powerlock/845 and Premier.

Tried Griots Garage Spray Wax today and it is a pretty solid product! It streaked a little bit, but could have been user error since it was hotter than usual and I didnt allow the paint to fully cool off. Does add some gloss!!
