What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Who in the heck told Mother Nature that it was alright to rain today?

I’ve come to realize that I prefer heavy downpours, or solid rain on several consecutive days, rather than a light shower once or twice a week.

With the heavy showers everything washes away and does not adhere to the surface of the car. With light showers the water on the road remains dirty and covers the car, especially the trunk area, with a fine mist of dirty water that sticks to the surface. I’ve been getting really annoyed these last couple of weeks in Palm Beach.

I picked up some 18 inch wheels for my 04 silverado. It has 16s now.

Cleaning them now
Eagle one black and plasticoat is a great over the counter option for a bleeding brake dust remover.

I rarely need to use this on my own vehicles but these barrels have rarely been cleaned.

Also used brake buster on the wheel faces and applied a coat of Collinite 915 as well

Took my stock wheels off and bought a wheel dip kit from dyc. Under $100 invested for a wheel color swap.

5 coats of black
5-6 coats of metallic flake bronze

A few hours of work

I plan to let it all dry for a few more hrs. Then I may tape off the face and do full barrels too in black.

Process
Cleaned wheels thoroughly
Wax and grease remover
Warmed all spray cans in warm water for a while
Shook them forever
Then started spraying

That looks good and you def have it thick enough so removal will be cake. And itll be durable as could be. Nice choice. Did u use glosifier? That would be my only suggestion it helps dirt come off easier and last longer in the sun with out fading.

Nope but the top layers are basically gloss metallic paint. These top layers now aren't even plastidip but a paint used to top it. It's slick and glossy.

Plastidip and dipyourcar.com have improved a ton over the years.

Just ordered a few gallons to do my truck :-)

35 degrees and sunny on a Sunday morning after a small snowstorm. It’s the perfect time for a rinseless wash in the driveway.

I hope so. It will be my first full vehicle to spray.

I have to teach myself how to do some bondo work first. Then practice a little.

I bought an extra gallon to practice with

Yeh whole vehicle is a ton of work. Ive done a few. Best suggestions is tape off windows and such. Small bits like lights and all if you get thick like your wheels itll peel right off that stuff. Id also recommended taping off lil things like grill or whatever or remove all together. When i did a corolla i removed the grill and taped windows up so there was less cleanup

The stuff gets into every lil crease and crevices so do remember that. It was a pain getting every little bit out of the creases and such when it was time to remove it from corolla after few years. To be fair tho hers was blue and we did pink( like pepto bismal pink lol) if your truck is black and your doing that blue itll probably be ok

Spent four hours indulging in some detail therapy today.

Yesterday while waiting for the games to start I did the 1st N-914 WW of the year.
