What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Detailed the inside of the bed of my truck. I typically don't do the inside of the bed with each and every wash other than blowing out the major stuff, i.e., leaves, twigs, etc. Periodically I'll give it the "works" and that's what I did here.

Last night I washed (and scrubbed) the factory spray-in bed liner with an APC and a tire brush. Then I used the dedicated leaf blower to get rid of the excess rinse water and let it dry out thoroughly overnight.

This morning I applied a coat of Meguiar's Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer to the spray-in liner and Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant to the rubber mat.

I don't have any before pics (it wasn't all that bad) but here's what it looks like now...

After work I decided to hit the quarter carwash on my way to an appointment. I used Brake Buster on all 4 and then sprayed on the soap, switched to the foaming brush (for the glass) and finished with Spot-Free rinse. I pulled the car out to dry it, this took some work due to all the beads I dried the tires and wheels, applied nothing to the tires because I wanna enjoy some of that Feynlab Black Velvet on there w/o a topper.

I got to Chipotle and needed to clean the inside windows, so I knocked that out. I always park on an end spot and went nose to nose with a Jag. I'm so glad I'm not a "BADGE SNOB", feel sorry for them. This isn't directed at the Jag owner persay, just a comment

Cleaned up and applied a refresher coat of CarPro SiC to my son's car before he takes it to college this weekend.

One of the things I like about this forum, while we all like many different brands, both automotive and detailing, we're not snobs. We can still appreciate what others have, and use, and understand that we all just work with what we've got. We all have our biases, but it would be pretty boring if we all only liked the same things.

Dave.

I got started on a wash this morning and got the foam on and dwelling, I was brushing emblems and stuff and the boss leans over the railing and tells me she has a physical therapy appointment in 45 minutes

One quick rinse and a half @$$ drying job later we go to town

It’s not far enough or fast enough to really finish blowing dry so after sitting and waiting for her for an hour in the heat the car is covered in dried on drip trails

They just don’t get it

Heavy sigh

It's funny how many people would give me a blank stare in Alaska when I said "quarter car wash"

There are only a couple left in Anchorage and I suppose if you had a helper to carry a bag of quarters you could do it but mostly it's credit card readers and it's a buck a minute now. It burns through the $15 max per credit card swipe so fast you barely got started and were swiping again. My usual was 2 swipes for $30, more than even the priciest touchless tunnel wash, but still, when your ride is encased in ice and snow it's the only game in town

Duplicate post, AG acting weird for me on my Mac this morning

Do you have Uber on Molokai?

Do you have Uber on Molokai?

No, there is one taxi company with I believe, 2 cabs

The last time I used it to get to the airport it was $65 plus tip and that was probably 8-9 years ago

I could have and should have put the car in the garage and taken the truck but I thought air drying might work

Oh well

The Queen does not ride in a truck!!:D

Funny you should mention that

It was actually the Queen that bought that truck

But now with her double knee replacement she has to have a folding step to get up in it

That’s why we shipped the Lexus over here

In her own words…

“It’s perfect butt height”

So yeah, it is definitely the preferred ride

I was honestly concerned about it being too flashy and showy for Molokai but there is a definite uptick in the newer nicer car scene here

Tesla’s, Beemers, Minis, Mercedes, etc

I don’t feel like I am showing off which is a good thing

About two weeks ago I made the mistake of watching a YT video from Chemical Guys. Now every time I go to YT I'm plagued by suggestions to watch more CG videos on how to half-ass everything. Today I finally had enough & currently looking into how I can block certain channels on there..

I finally got my second shelf unit and box of totes from Amazon after the first order disappeared en route

One tote had a small crack I fixed with Goop

My corner of the garage is about done now

I just have one large tote of overflow microfiber but it’s spares so now I can grab whatever I need without having to rummage around

I even got the side wall cleared so I have enough space to wash the car inside

Love it!!

I am a big fan of those clear totes. IMO, it is way better to be able to actually see the contents, vs. having solid colored totes with labels.

Thanks

Sadly there is some wasted space in the shelves

It’s hard to get anyone to ship totes here and I really needed some about half again as big to utilize space the best

Some towels are crammed in pretty tight but it is what it is

I may order 1 more box of 4 and use 2 and give the rest to the boss because I kind of started out stealing some of hers “just to see how they work”

Nicely done!

Must have been the day for microfibre sorting.

I got some new utility towels delivered this week, meaning a bit of a re-organisation of the cabinet.
