What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Ram got a wash with Hyperwash, and its winter coat of 476s topped with 845.

The weather has been spectacular this week, and I’m on vacation. So why not use both? Lol

I appear to have bought a lump of sticky blue plastic...

Well that pretty much sums up a couple of brands of detailing clay…

The clay I have bought in the past that actually felt like modeling clay sucked

Sticky doesn’t begin to describe it

I like plasticky feeling clay

As long as I am going to have a rental truck, I am still going to treat it as my own. Today was a full two bucket wash and a final treatment of Sonax Spray and Seal. It lasts a good 2 months.

Todays routine. First wash in a week.

Wheels with Sonax Beast.
Foam gunned car with Mr. Pink. Followed by rinsing off and a second foaming for the wash.
One bucket with 8 MF mitts in Mr. pink and a little WG Uber rinsless for good measure.
Meguiar’s Gold Class Carnauba Wax Plus (2nd coat, did 1st coat last week).
WG Uber Rinsless mixed into a QD to go over any missed wax and possibly add a little pop???.
Zaino 9 leather cleaner.
Zaino 10 leather conditioner.
Griot's interior detailer.
Vacuumed.
Invisible Glass interior, exterior and moon sunroof.
Cooating of Meguiar’s Ultimate Quick Wax on the glass.
1 light coat of Carpro Perl on tires.

Overkill, yes according to the misses..........but great mental therapy for me!

Now let it rain...ugh.

Heh heh. That wasn't overkill. It was routine maintenance.

I have someone to help me out with my daughter incase I can't get her from daycare ontime, so today I took care of her car like I said I would, a way to pay her back. I will do this again come spring because I'll probably phone in a couple favors. Anywho I did an "enhanced carwash" and protection package. I started by using Eagle 1 plasti-dip/black wheel cleaner on the entire exterior paint (it had rail dust all over it, even the roof) She pointed this out to me previously and I told her I got something for that. Thankfully the car was white and it bled out pretty good.

I then turned to the tires/wheels. For the tires it was foaming Griot's Garage tire cleaner, they almost turned brown IMMEDIATELY!! I scrubbed them and then used Auto-Fanatic foaming wheel cleaner (medium strength) on the rims and all brushes were used and needed here. The one wheel had CC failure and I showed her this right away.

I followed this up with a good pre-wash using CarPro Lift, this way its extra clean. Next was a Gyeon Bathe 2BM wash for a completely squeaky clean paint surface, now it was time for the LSP.

I chose 303 Touchless Sealant for protection for ease of use and a good 2 monthes of protection, maybe 3 if it goes in the garage and it's maintained. It left the paint glossy and beading VERY well. I also sealed up the rims with it too.

To finish things up I added 2x's Feynlab Black Velvet Tire Coating and it actually finished out better on these tires than my own

So after I did that Camry it was time for the ES, it's been a messy, rainy week and it was DUE!

I started with an IGL Blizzard snow foam to loosen and break things down and let dwell and rinsed. Next were the tires and wheels, finished up that Auto-Fanatic foaming wheel cleaner I used earlier, all brushes used again! For the 2BM it was Gyeon Bathe and the ES began to look GLOWING once again

I then grabbed Dream Maker for a drying aid, let those beads sit this time and used my Big Blue drying towel to dry it to a stunning finish The mini Master Blaster dried up the tires/wheels where I applied a coat of Feynlab Black Velvet Tire Coating, let cure for a bit and then topped with Gyeon Tire for a truely great look

Now it's time to soak in the tub and wait for my girlfriend to come over...oh yeah, I have one of those now and her Cruze hatch is next tomorrow, stay "tuned"

Btw I pulled the ES up a bit for better pics and a new angle, surely noone wants to see the same old, same old

Washed my Golf R for the first time in over 3 weeks.
It stayed fairly clean until last Wednesday when it rained and dried while I was at work. Dirty water spots all over.

This is beyond sticky. It's now stuck to the container & impossible to remove. Literally can not get it out of the container. It's going back to Amazon on Monday.

Clay is one thing I don’t scrimp on anymore

I’ve seen the $10 clay on Amazon and I bet there is some decent stuff but as you found out it’s a gamble

For over the counter clay I have bought a lot of the Megs and Mothers kits over the years

Not the most aggressive but safe and I feel a good value

I dig that blue. It really pops.

I don’t think it is the blue that’s actually popping, it’s the 64 different toppers and layers he has on it. :) But I agree it looks good and he does a great job keeping it detailed.

64?
I lost count at 257

Sadly the PA weather will be changing soon to WINTER. Saturday was rain all day, so did inside stuff. This morning the usual wash/detail on the ZR2.

I had a $10 credit to use at one of the local auto parts stores, an encouragement to come out and spend now our lockdown is over. So I wandered the aisles, eventually came out with a new glass cleaning mitt, which was 25% off as well, and I needed an air freshener, and that was half price, only $10 out of pocket all done. So I cleaned my windows today inside and out, but I've decided to use the new mitt only on the inside. And yes, the air freshener is from Armor All, I think it's the only product of theirs I still use.
