What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Those are some badass winter mats. Never heard of them. I just emailed them to see if them can custom make ones for our buick as they don't list them. weathertech doesn't make them for the buick either.

Nice car btw

Winter/Fall mode engaged. A quick rinseless wash and on go the stock rims with the Michelin A/S tires. Installed my new TuxMats as well. The boat is ready for the cold and snow.

Are those soft and pliable or hard like weatherTechs?

I have husky Xact Contours and they are awesome. Molded but soft material. More like a foam rubber. My only problem is the btanded plaque on the matts are blue and clash with the red interior theme.

Sure noone notices but I do!

Soft and pliable, part of the reason why I bought them. These only have the little nameplates as you could see. We’ve had Weathertech in my wife’s last 2 cars and both had issues with the edges curling. Her last set did it in under a year and had them replaced under warranty.

Those look pretty good Derek! How's the price compared to WeatherTechs? It looks like a shorter lip and I'm thinking that's going to NOT curl up.

Outside lips go all the way up to the trim and inside lip goes the entire tunnel height

I started actually using the build-up of products in my garage that I keep buying... gave Sonax Liquid Wax NPT a try. I admit this was applied on top of Collinite 845 (2 months old) but I'm only messing around with my own vehicles and both are garage kept.

This car pictured is wax products and the white one gets the Si02 products. If the layering wipes everything away tomorrow, guess I'll just start again. View attachment 74542View attachment 74543

I needed to wash the mud from last week's trip off. So I foamed it with Mother's California Gold, all I had on hand, but I've ordered some Carpro Lift and Reset, hoping for delivery this week. Then rinsed under the wheel arches with a hose extension sprayer I've had for years, and forgot I had. Next was a 2B wash with Mother's California Gold. It's a little windy with sunny periods, so even though I was trying to keep it wet, I could see the water spots appearing after only a couple of minutes. I moved it into the garage to dry it, my normal drying aid wasn't doing much for the water spots, so tried some ONR in a QD dilution, worked well. Then buffed it with a clean soft MF. I also sprayed some 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tyres. Last step was cleaning the glass with Angelwax Vision.

Maintaining balance between the need for dirt and the want of clean

I accidentally posted this in the non detailing section earlier. I decided to try the new Gloss Coat that was recently reformulated a few months ago. Truck was prepped with Hyper Polish and OPT Pain Prep. I applied 2 coats, an hour apart. It rained 24 hours later and I grabbed a beading shot. I drove the truck shortly after to dry it. Shower was brief. Application was simple, however I didn`t use quite enough product. Only 8cc`s were used so I`m not expecting the longevity to hit 2 years. I probably should have used at least 10cc's.

If you got it spread out and even coverage you will be fine. Laying it on thicker doeasn’t increase durability. Doing a second coat might.

I wasn't happy with the patchy results from my last application of 303 on my tyres, and there was still some mud hiding in some nooks and crannies. I also noticed I got some over spray on the upwind side, all the way up to the roof. So I cleaned the tyres with some Carpro Eraser and a scrubbing brush. Then reapplied the 303 in the garage, let it soak in for an hour, then removed the excess. Then wiped the whole car over with Bowden's Boss Gloss, to remove any more over spray.View attachment 74558View attachment 74559

Washed the XR8 and Ranger today. The weather was perfection today, sunny skies and 22 deg C / 72 deg F.

This is beading is after applying Gyeon Q2 Wax -

I also continued to trail P&S Dream Maker on the Ranger.

If we don't get too much rain, I can get 3 - 4 weeks on the FJ. On the Qashqai, which lives in the garage, and only gets driven once a week, 2 months easy, except for the front passenger tyre, which gets rubbed on the gutter almost every time it's driven.

I hadn't washed the ES since last Sat, weather has been horrible but the ES didn't look as bad as you'd think after storms and TEN DAYS

I used my lunch hour, which I take at the end of the day (I can explain if need be) to do a WW. I used DG RW for the majority of the wash and finished up with Feynlab because I used up the DG WW. I also used the Feynlab WW to clean the tires and wheel faces, also sprayed some up in the wheelwells and let it dwell.

It came out great and only needed 4 plush, edgeless microfiber towels for the body/glass, that 75th Anniversary graphene and ceramic paste wax from TW has some incredible self-cleaning abilities

Our parts department moved next door into an old HD dealership, so atleast the pics look different this time The tires had a natrual look when I was done but when I got home I applied a fresh coat of Adam's graphene tire dressing to complete the FRESHNESS
