What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Post some pics of your work! We'd love to see!

Oh i plan to. The only cars ive ever done nth degree work on that had paint worth showing off were white. This is my first car with good paint and a spicy color. Im really hoping that the car pro essence makes this paint shimmer.

I heard good things about Essence. I bet your car will look spectacular!

Yea. Fresh air. Outdoors. Normal routine wash/detail on the ZR2. Finished with TWSC and Wolfstiens tonneau cover protectant. Figure it was decent out, so why not use the spray coating.

Did a wash - Reset and topped with HS. Loving Hyper-Seal.

Gotta make hay when the sun is shining. It was warm enough to wash the car. It cooled off quite a bit already since this afternoon.

So last night I was doing some Amazon Christmas shopping and got sucked into reading about the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions 1 and Done Compound. Amazon said they could deliver it by 11am so I thought what the hell...it showed by 5am.

To be fair, compound was more than I needed but I had just used the recent sales at AGO to buy better hand applicators. Those also came today so I took a Polishing Pal with a white pad and gave the compound a shot on some very fine marks that had created some swirling effect in the sun. These are the marks no sane person sees but we all know they're there if you hold your head just right. I'm pleasantly surprised. I didn't go crazy and just hit a few spots but I believe those fine scratches are gone. Some deeper ones remain but for using it by hand to avoid a bigger correction job, I'm happy. I'll have to check in the sunlight tomorrow.

I did use Prima Amigo and BG again (thanks to my "free" dealer wash) but those marks survived those fillers two weeks ago so if they're gone, it's the 1 and Done compound.

I also used some other new items from my AGO sale purchases (Wolfgang tire gel and glass polish) but I'm mildly thrilled to have possibly found a way to delay a polishing day until Spring.

Standard wash and paint decon method.
McKees37 rinseless wash as a claylube along with the synthetic clay disc…it feels like I’m deep cleaning the pores of the paint.

CarPro Essence’d the whole car.
Done for the night.
Ceramic coating goes on in the morning.

Finally got to give the FJ a wash, used Carpro Reset, there was no protection left on the roof, little on the hood, and not bad on the vertical surfaces. Reset worked well. I wanted to put something easy on it, and since I had Mother's Ceramic Trim Restore &Coat to try on the trim, I used Mother's CMX Ceramic Spray Coating on the paint. The spray coating went on easy, the Trim Restore and coat was another matter. Put it on a small section, and it just seemed to eat it up, just dried up after a couple of minutes, so I put another layer on, which left it a little better, but still streaky. Third layer did the trick, but over half the bottle was gone when I was done, I hope it lasts.Tyres are a bit brown, I will probably put some 303 on them tomorrow at work, so it can really soak in.View attachment 74727View attachment 74728

From what i’ve read hyper seal pretty meh on it’s own but nice as a topper.

I can’t recall if you tried it on bare paint? If so how is it as a stand alone?

This was on bare paint. I applied it using a mf towel this time.

The things I really like about it: ease of use (WOWA), a little goes such a long way (16oz bottle could do many cars much like OS), can be applied in sun and the look is unique compared to other products I've tried. Really glossy with a wet look.

I don't know about durability yet. There is another member using it and he said it was still going just as strong as day one after 5 months. You can use it as a drying aid. I did a full 180 on it.
