What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Got my IK Foamer 12 in today and Ammo Frothe and Hydrate the other day. I’m not sold on Frothe or Hydrate yet, more so Hydrate. It just doesn’t seem to go on smoothly trying a few different towels. And in the light of a parking lot light tonight, I saw streaking, which is what I saw when I was wiping with Hydrate. But it was only my first time so I’ll have to play with it more. Had to run in for a meeting so didn’t get a picture of the final result. Used the Milwaukee M12 Inflator and it worked well other than turning off after a few minutes. I used it to pressurize the IK Foamer 12 to 35 psi and I just topped it off 3 times. Need to get a little holder for the inflator to hang off the IK Foamer and it will be good.

Usually streaking means too much product.

With frothe i like to remove with TrC EE. I then spray the Panel with hydrate and then mop up with a PFM.

Hope it works out for you, it’s been great for me and maybe attributed to paint difference?

I'm assuming the Foam 12 had replaced my Foam 9 I wonder what upgrades, besides being able to pump it up with comp air, they made to it? I'm assuming my cordless Ryobi air compressor would work on the Foam 12

Take a look at the top to see the differences but I’d say the only difference is the Schrader valve if you don’t have it on yours. And I’d assume your Ryobi would work well. My small little M12 inflator didn’t use any battery level so the foamer is a cake walk for the inflator.

I’m quite sure I used too much Frothe. :) I don’t have EEs as I haven’t caught a box on sale but I have several different types of towels to try.

One issue I do have is it is hard to be precise with the foam and it gets everywhere including on some already-completed panels. Oh well, I’ll get better. Right now the issue is with me, not the products.

Yeah had that problem but it gets better. Try spraying a whole side down at once.

Did you use Hydrate with a damp towel?

Using Ammo products I have found does require a little technique changes but honestly I am still surprised with Frothe and Hydrate.

For me I like to be able to do a mid week “wash” and have our vehicles looking almost better than a traditional wash with water and soap.

I wonder how long it will take for someone to come out with a pump up foamer with a built in inflator/battery. Maybe one that screws on so you can move it.

Looking forward to seeing similar tests with the Foam Pro 2+

Did you use Hydrate with a damp towel?

I did not and thought maybe that would be better. I just checked the instructions and you are correct, it says to use with a damp towel. Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

I'm also still learning the secret handshake for Hydrate. I'm also trying to determine if I like it's surface behavior compared to just my (non-coating) LSP. I think I'm still in the can't-help-but-use-too-much phase, so that's probably playing into it.

I like Frothe more than I was expecting - I was expecting the foam to be a gimmick, but it really does feel like you're sliding the dirt away from the surface as you approach it as opposed to mashing it into the towel. I'll buy more when this round runs out, possibly the Anti-Salt version.

My OCD had me wanting to do a Frothe wash like I do a rinseless, which is to spray a panel/area at a time and dry as I go, but like Coatings mentioned I've switched to doing a whole side of a car. Working in the garage is nice because I'm not left feeling like I've gotta get it wiped off ASAP.

Side note, I still need to try a wash where I go full faith in Frothe - I've been using it as the pre-spray then doing a Rinseless with N-914 or Griot's Brilliant Finish Rinseless.

Actually was having a side conversation with Coatings the other week about cordless sprayers. I've got a couple cordless plant misters that work quite well for the money for when you don't need foam (IE: Non frothe presoak for a rinseless); He clued me into the fact that there actually is a cordless foamer that works like you mention - it's a self pressurizing unit. I think we can get a case discount if we wanna go in on getting 300 of them shipped over...

I'm amazed that that style tool hasn't taken off yet - like I told Coatingsarecrack, these manual pump up foamers and ones with air fittings feel like stop-gap technology until we get to the design that actually makes the most sense.

I missed that as well. More proof I've got work to do with Hydrate to give it a proper chance.

Hmm. Maybe we could ask for 3 demo units to test before our "big order".

Yeah, but I understand a company like IK not having it. Something that involves the electronics, batteries, chargers, etc. is out of their wheelhouse. They'd likely have to partner with someone else with expertise in that.

Well I’m back to Griot’s 3 in 1 and very happy I switched back. Did a wash so I could apply second coat. Surface is super slick.

I could also see where it's one thing to buy a cheap foamer for $30 from alibaba, knowing full well what you're getting into. If a detailing brand is going to put their name on it, it's gotta be idiot proof or the idiots will drag their name into the dirt.

I just recently atarted foing this as i too feltcI needed a pre soak. So far it seems better with out it and Frothe is not runny. Took me two years to try…. Baby steps….

Today was the first time I ever got streaking from the 3 in 1 though. Just on the hood. They were pretty tough to remove too. Not sure why either it was in the shade and 60F. I think it applies better in 70F> temps.

I could see Griot's pulling this off. Some of their products like cordless vacuums are just rebranded.

Cleaned my mum's dirty wheels with GT one wheel shampoo
wasn't that happy with it.

No pics as i suck

Well I have committed and gone full Frothe washes for 2/3 weeks now generally 1-2 washes a week for already very clean cars already and really am still surprised how well it wipes and cleans just Frothe itself.

I had to watch Larry’s video several times and his styles to have faith and take the dive. I figured if he does it to several “show cars” I figured it had to be safe to try.

Actually….. just used Frothe and Hydrate last night on both our cars and I do have a few already “love marks” and my fiancés cars never been corrected yet but I really like the combo.
