What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Used some Poor Boys Strip down to remove stubborn sap and followed up with Tec582.

While vacuuming out the EN a little bit ago I decided to clean the d/s mat real good. I've had the new Griot's Garage foaming carpet cleaner sitting there doing nothing and figured it was time.

I brought it inside and foamed it down and let it dwell. Then a went off..."check and see if the old WeatherTechs from the ES fit" I grabbed the d/s WeatherTech and put it in, PERFECT FIT️I then test fitted the rear one that goes all the way across...PERFECT FIT

It's amazing that a car that got a complete make over for the 2021 model year would have the previous generation parts fit, I mean it's a little bigger in all dimensions...thank you Hyundai

I came back inside and used my Mother's tire and wheel brush to scrub the mat and now it's outside drying in the sun. I'll vac it right before it's reinstalled. I also sprayed Adam's leather scent in the interior and spot cleaned the area around the gas pedal as well

I'm glad I didn't sell off my old WeatherTechs, it's like getting $200 w/o actually getting $200

Finally got a chance to reverse whatever the dealer did in their "detail". I'm really liking the blue on this car. Pictures aren't great but I was too lazy to pull it back out in the sunlight. Ironically, most of the products I used were also new. The surface is very slick and shinee

Griot's Surface Prep
Decon
Poorboy's Pre-soak foam
Poorboy's Black Hole
American Garage Valor Sealant
Tac Shinee Wax

Griot's Wheel Cleaner
Adam's Tire Cleaner
303 Touchless for the wheels
Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire gel

DP 20/20 Glass Cleaner

I was planning to actually just do Natty's Blue Wax on top of the glaze but the glaze covered enough of the "dealer provided" swirls that I decided to try that new sealant. Went on easy so we'll see how it lasts...or, how long until I add something else at least. Ended up a 5hr endeavor when all said and done.

I put a brand new Genesis cut trunk mat from WeatherTech in the new X3... fits too well to not keep it. It actually rolls up a little against the back of the rear seats and I can see that being extremely helpful when a muddy stroller gets thrown in there.

Now my spotless TuxMat set (thanks to this OCD cleaning forum) was an easy sell in a Genesis group online. Ended up costing me only $50 to use them a year.

The Tux mats look awesome! Derek0609 has them and loves them! He's had nothing but bad luck w/ WeatherTechs, even the warrantied ones curled up.

I've had good luck with mine but they're only used during the winter monthes anyways

Got my new wash setup mounted.
No fancy hard plumbing but not a single leak!
Hose reel is a game changer!

Usual maintenance wash, foamed with hyper wash and did a contact wash also via bucket o' mitts method. Dried with the Ego wiped down with a 16x16 PFM and some spritzes of a homebrew qd. LSP is meguiar's hybrid paint coating.

But very “rewarding “!

I wasn’t expecting this. It was dropped off last night so I never got a chance to look at the paint only felt it. My 1st thought was clearcoat failure, interior job.

But as I got a closer look at it today I thought hey maybe there’s a chance for an extreme makeover here. I hadn’t even started on the outside but couldn’t wait and pulled out the polisher for a test spot.

The owners having the car detailed for his gf. They’re going to be thrilled with the results.

####. I’ve been trying to keep up with his tire dressings and I gave up. :) Was thinking, yeah Klasse likes that tire dressing so I may need to try it and then read he’s got 3 other products on there too. :)

Between Klasse Act and DFB they probably use 17% of the worlds tire shine supply.

I swapped cars with my sister so she could use my truck to move, and I had to give it a deep cleaning before I drove it for a month. I had to literally peel off the bird crap from it. I am scared to see how my truck will come back.

That's crazy right there

I sentence you to watch ALL recent Yvan LaCriox videos, starring with his most recent one where he appears on TRC's YouTube channel promoting some new companies product. I think he's wearing some new high heels, thigh highs and mini skirt...this guys really somethin'

I only know about the video because I'm sub'd to so many detailing channels. I wish there was a filter so I could filter him out I wonder if he's using his tire and wheel brush to wash a car with whatever these new products are

Now I need a link to the video

How dare you!!

It's more like 49.5% of the worlds supply.

Never fails, I wash the car yesterday because the forecast was clear for the next 4 days...

BUT OF COURSE.............................

....a shower materializes out of nowhere at 2am and now I have a pollen/waterspot magnet of a car.

Today's fun task was cracking open a new bottle of Meg's Ultimate Waterless and wiping off the horizonal surfaces.

Man, that stuff is one of the best smelling things ever to pass under my beak!!

Today begins the long Memorial Day weekend for me. Took three extra days so I can put our vehicles "under the scalpel" for the first time. Getting to use my new Griot's polishers FINALLY! Starting with the GLI tonight. Todays goal is to get the thorough decon wash completed and possibly(if my energy levels allow it) get the claying done on the GLI. Never clayed the car in the 37,000 miles I have on it, only "chemical clays". Next step will be to mask the trim and begin the polishing. Gonna test a panel and see what to start with, I plan to use all Jescar products. Hopefully their medium polish with the yellow foam pads get it done, but I am prepared to get more aggressive need be. Main issue with my paint is holograms and hard water or deicer staining. Not so much scratches and swirls. Thankfully my wash process seems to do a decent job at mitigating those.

If everything with the GLI goes well and I feel up to it, may try to tackle the wifes high-mileage Altima. At least start the process.

Gave my truck a bath before I take it to my sister for a month. May the force be with it while it's gone because I know she won't baby it like it do. Topped it with Tec582 to see what the fuss is about lol.
