What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Went off road yesterday. Got a quick wash in before it gets really hot.

Reset
Ech2o (after air dry) 1:20.

Can Coat looks like the day I applied it 4 months in. Hydrophobics are really strong with this product.

Man I love those ZR2s. And this would probably be my #1 color choice followed by red.

So today I did a touchless wash (Bilt-Hamber Touchless), first one since 4th of July weekend. You see on July 6th I bought a monthly pass at the Shell station near my work to make it easier to stay ontop of that damn sap, probably going to keep it because the wash is awesome!

I foamed it down first, rinsed it off and then turned my attention to the tires and wheels. Not only haven't I done a barrel cleaning in 3 weeks but yesterday, after I came home from the carwash and shopping, the end of our driveway accumulated some standing dirt after the massive storm in the morning, so I had dried up mud in the treads and shoulders, couldn't take it

The Brake Buster and all 4 brushes made quick work of all that, kinda cool seeing a bunch of BROWN come out of there️Once I was done with all that it was time to try a new product out!

This new product is a brand that apparently just became available here...Stjarnagloss Glatt rinse aid (spray on, hose off product) I first used it on the wheels, faces, spokes and barrels. I sprayed it on the wet wheels, let sit for about 30 seconds and rinsed away. The beading was very good I must say. Next I did a section at a time on the EN, same steps and man did it bead! It says not to use on glass but it's kinda hard to not get some of it on the glass, so I used "a little" on the glass, no problem.

I dried the EN using 2 medium sized mf drying towels, the first one to sop up the water and to help work in this spray protection. The 2nd towel dried everything up perfectly, damn is it muggy out AND the sun came out as I was using the 2nd towel

I have to say the Gloss is amazing, paint finish is S M O O T H too. It was refreshing to be hands on again but running the EN through the touch-free wash and only needing to do minimal drying is very efficient

Here's what I used, a little over half left. I may have used a bit more than needed, not sure but it's got a good, fresh layer laid down now

I see you got sucked onto the TRC hype train for this

Wife’s X3 wasn’t that dirty so I decided to give it a quick RW was using ONR and followed up with Beadmaker. I haven’t hit the trim in a while so I hit it WG WETS.

I hit the tires with TW hybrid tire cleaner and dressed the with the TW hybrid graphene dressing, this is their first time getting this so I applied two coats since I’m sure the tires are going to absorb the first coat, similar to how my tires absorbed it.

For the interior a combination of DP interior cleaner, GG leather all in one, 303 protectant, and did a quick hit on the floor mats with PS carpet bomber, terminator with a drill and used a white brush…then finisher! I absolutely love the PS three step cleaner…works as advertised!

Finally done. Two coats of PolishAngel Famous after Escalate today. Of course it's raining now so these poor man's thanks to PA, too cheap to buy VIP images will have to suffice.

Tires have Perl and the glass got the Pinnacle Twins while I was waiting around on Famous. Gave the final Famous coat 3hrs before wiping and it still wiped right off. I'm hoping with some of the PA sprays this will give enough protection until Viking comes out for winter.

Hands will be orange/gold a few days...I get why they send a glove with Famous.

Cleaned my rim to take it back to the tire store to get the weights hidden this time. Getting the weights off with the white foam adhesive was pretty easy, getting some of the older adhesive (thin and black) off was harder. But cleaning the inner rims was pretty difficult. Tried a couple wheel cleaners but no dice. Ended up using 800 grit sandpaper (Mirka Abralon) but Tarminator was the key as it made quick work of the dark spots.

Partially cleaned with Tarminator and 800 grit sandpaper

If I’m using a touchless wash I’ll foam with BHAF and hit the wheels with full strength BB before running through.

This weekend I used BH Touch-less for the first time. I was too lazy to dilute it as recommended(using PIR) so I just did what I always do, start with 1oz in about 28oz of water and adjust going forward as needed. May try a little less today and make sure to keep it wet, I think it dried in a couple spots as I had some dull splotchy staining on my exterior trim pieces in a few areas. Nothing 303 Aerospace couldn't quickly erase.

Other than the light splotching on trim it worked as advertised. The day before I killed thousands of NE Ohio bugs with my car and the Touch-less, for the most part, broke all the bug guts down. If I get to it today it will be quick for sure, just a days worth of road film from wet roads. BH Touch-less. Rinse. Wipe-down with Optimum ID&GE. Good til Thursday's rain.

That touchless is a nice product. Im almost outta my first mix which i have in a 2 gallon pump sprayer(not a foamer). It works awesome. I think i put about 9 oz of touchless in, It's a little less than the recommended 4% CIR

Was that in a pump up foamer?

I was sent some Glaco Soft 99 to try out by a friend, he knows I'm a bit obsessive about clean glass. I watched some videos, found some translated instructions, and thought, why not. So I tried it on the Qashqai tonight.

I gave the glass a thorough cleaning with Carpro Eraser, first with a glass cloth then again with a magic eraser. Applied Glaco with it's own built in applicator, let it haze for about 10 mins, then buffed it off with a lint free cloth. Overall very similar to application to RainX, but alot harder to buff off, could be because I didn't let it sit long enough, or too long, or just because it's only about 10C tonight.

I didn't mind the extra effort required, it actually feels like a hard coating, if you know what I mean. I really want to try it on the FJ now, but I'll have to wait till the weekend. Meanwhile the garage smells like Carpro Eraser, and that's not a bad thing.

I plan on doing just that come winter time, once a week, the other days will be just running it through. This touch-free wash will keep my EN clean...top side and bottom side

I think I fell into another rabbit hole!

My roof rails haven’t looked very good in a long time as well as some of the window trim, I’ve tried apc diluted and at full strength, wax remover all with a toothbrush with very little success.

It all started last night watching a YouTube video from a very reputable detailer out of New York working on a Porsche in CA, one of his fellow detailers working on the car was trying to cleanup the oxidized trim with little success as well, he then switched to using a compound/polish using a MF towel and worked like a champ too!

Well this afternoon I said let’s give this a try, I whipped out Pinnacle Compound then switched to 3D Speed for a little better cleaning abilities. First thing I noticed this is very tedious and time consuming and the tip of your finger gets a little sore to say the least but the results are very gratifying.

I think I have about 90-120 minutes invested into this rabbit hole so far and I’ve only completed the drivers side roof rail trim, drivers door black trim, and a piece of the back door corner!

At this pace, I think I may finish it by 2024, but damn it looks good! Unfortunately the nighttime pics aren’t as dramatic compared to daytime but…enjoy!

The roof rails on the Qashqai are a bit rough looking to, never thought of using a compound though. Oh well, I'll put it on the list.
