What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I’m not sure if this qualifies as detailing related or not

I’m taking advantage of the recent change in Alaska law, they are no longer requiring a front plate

The two screw holes in the backing bar behind the grill appears to be the only damage as I am not seeing any rub marks or scratches from the plate mounting bracket, but it is dirty and raining and the light is terrible

I am already sourcing some black nylon fasteners to plug the holes and it should look like it came that way

I was never quite sure about the Lexus hourglass grill

It is iconic but it is big as you said and it makes quite a statement

My wife gave me the car for my 65th birthday so it wasn’t my choice

But it has grown on me and I think it’s the second most favorite car of my 50 years driving

You are a lucky man in both respects! Congrats! And I think a lot of people are like you. The size and aggressiveness grow on you but it is potentially a polarizing feature, especially on the stodgy LS. But I’d take one in a heartbeat if given to me. :)
 
Very quick question to my fellow geeks... I know that you are supposed to wait 7 days after applying a ceramic coating but can you do a touchless wash to the car and let it air dry?

Gyeon pure evo says do not wash with harsh chemicals for 14 days. Im sure you read that in the pamflet it came with lol.

Personally i would not let air dry due to chance for water spots, since that is within the time frame of being most suseptable.

Last weekend had a wedsing to go to, and i was 3 days i think post fresh gyeon pure evo install on my truck. Against my will i foam cannoned the truck with 3d super presoak or super soap..cant remember and rinsed off and then "washed and dried" with 3d waterless wash using one towel atleast per panel. No issues and i was happy. No idea if any of any long term effects as i couldnt take to wedding dusty lol

Thank you and I didn't read the pamplet The reason I wanna wash it is so I can level my high spots out, I used too much product because I was outside AND the EN is light AND I'm heavy on product useage.

I did level out a spot with 3D Speed, I wonder if an AIO like that would hurt the Pure EVO

Haha, and not sure about speed. Personally id just use a polish but its your car not mine lol. Am i correct in asumming your going to repolish and recoat the entire panel?

I didn’t realize you were one of my children

lol

They have always felt they deserved what we worked a lifetime for

Even when they were in their teens and twenties they thought they were entitled to OUR life

It gets old when they hear we are going on a trip or doing whatever and they say “lucky”

Luck had nothing to do with it

My daughter is the youngest and actually figured out first that it comes from a lifetime of hard work and good choices

She never asks for anything

My two boys are working on figuring it out

My middle son is 40 today and feels he should be able to walk away from his really good job of almost 20 years and go live in Hawaii doing basically nothing

His older brother is 41 and has NOTHING, mostly due to substance and alcohol issues

He just assumes SOMEONE will pick up his slack like we did for so many years until we finally realized it wasn’t helping

Not sure who snuck in and raised them in the middle of the night cause they didn’t get that crap from us

The sad thing is we talk to sooooo many people our age (66) and chances are if they had several kids, one went down the same road as our oldest son

My wife and I are finally comfortable with living out our remaining years FOR OURSELVES

I’m not saying we won’t help them if they genuinely need help but we refuse to feel guilty about putting ourselves first
