What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I have the wet filter but I normally run no filter

If I have dirt in there 1st I use the extractor to wet it all down by spraying inside the vacuum with the extractor to get everything wet so it doesn't blow around. Plus I use the muffler on the exhaust port.

I use it as vacuum and extractor both back to back

Works great. It's hooked to water hose so no rank refills etc.

Dude. That description just made my inner OCD cringe a little bit. Lol.
No filter? And you leave the dirty vacuum debris and just wet it down before extracting? Whoa, ok if it works for you and you don’t mind then it works for you.lol.

But really no filter? I’m curious why do you prefer no filter?

After dinner took my g/f's Cruze to the touch-free wash because it was very windy here today, so the black paint was dusty as hell

Used CG's Glossworkz on the tires/wheels as a pre-wash (no agitation) and dried thoroughly afterwards. Once home I evened out the DWS06's w/TWHS graphene tire dressing for the "finished look"

The EN will be washed tomorrow, it's light color is more forgiving and besides...it can wait

ONR wash for the FJ today, the touchless the other day removed most of the mud, but some hands on attention was still required, used ONR on the wheels as well, with my old Meguiar's Soft Wash Brush, it worked ok for powder coated wheels. Left the tyres alone for now, I've only got enough Hyper Foam left to do one tyre.

Agent Orange and a pressure washer well have the arches looking brand new plus add a little Megs HD = :xyxthumbs:

So this morning I got after it after breakfast and did what I call "post winter clean up". This was an "intensive" pre-wash and 2BM

I started with Brake Buster and 4 brushes to give the tires and wheels a proper cleaning. Although the the new set-up has only been on for a week and a day, I was surprised at how much BROWN came out of the barrels, mind you the car has been washed about 4x's since last Friday and NO rain

After the tires/wheels were squeaky clean I turned to the EN itself. I started w/3 oz of CarPro Descale in my Griot's Garage foam gun and laid it down, let dwell and rinsed away. The beads were incredibly tight after the rinse down

Next up was the 2BM and for this I used .75 oz of Bilt-Hamber AutoWash and a couple pumps of Gyeon Restart wash and proceeded to wash the EN, so rewarding doing a hand carwash Upon rinsing the beading was still tight, time to "finish up"!

The last step was to "boost up" the coated protection here, both wheels AND entire car. For this I reached for DIY Detail Quick Beads. I started with the rims, although the protection is FRESH (applied in Dec when I got the rims and then stored) I'm already there with bottle in hand so why not I then moved around the entire EN knocked it out. Once rinsed off I used free flowing water to knock down the beads and to flush out the trunk and hood jams AND make drying easier. Using my large mf drying towel was simple, just throw it over a section and drag ohhh so slowly...SIMPLE

OHHH yeah your probably wondering about those green mf towels around the side mirrors Those are from DIY Detail, they have a magnet in the 2 corners and you simply put them together and let them collect the water that ALWAYS runs out of that area

It's going to be a great detailing season

So my g/f tweaked her back this morning and came back home, so once I got her in bed to rest I took her Cruze to the touch-free wash. Once I returned I decided to apply some TW Seal & Shine to it, the new formula and it was easy as hell to apply, even in the sun. Now last week I did a quick compound/polish on her hood "just to see" and yeah, I've got my work cut out for me. I used a Griot's Garage mf 5" pad w/303 compound, 4 section pass and followed up w/303 polish and got a fair amount of correction. Not sure when I'll be doing the entire correction but when I do I'll be ready...I hope

I finished up by applying the TW Seal & Shine to the wheels and applied some CarPro Darkside to her tires, stuff is pretty awesome I must say️I also applied a VERY light coat to the Pirelli's on the EN...since I was there

Now it's time to hit the shower and I might have another EN to show you guys later, it's winter shoes are coming off and getting some AWESOME lookin' aftermarket rims, stay "tuned"

I ordered BH Touchless. Looking forward to see how well it cleans. I'm going to use it in a sprayer and foam gun to see how they compare.

After finishing cutting grass, went right to doing the truck. I knew they were calling for rain, but just let me finish and then I don't care. Had a brief rain about 1/2 hour once I got done. Calling for rain on and off all weekend.

I've only used it in my IK Foam Pro 12 w/battery hack and I love it! I don't think I've used it in my Griot's Garage foam gun so I can't comment there. That said, your going to love it, especially on a coated car

The Plastidip I sprayed the other week had a very coarse finish, very matt, lots of things are sticking to it, even my microfibers, so I thought I'd touch it up a bit. I masked and covered, but not enough. I got some overspray, so I used a clay pad I bought years ago. Only took 20 minutes, felt very smooth afterwards. I was unsure what protection was left, so I looked at everything on the shelf, I had the afternoon free, so I decided on Collinite 845, gotta love that gloss. Looking at the bottle, I've done 5 or 6 full coats since I bought it, I think I'm using the correct amount.

Also found my next bit of clear coat failure, top of passenger side door handle. At least with this I can buy black or carbon covers off eBay to hide it.

Dave, would you consider having that piece covered in matte/satin black vinyl on the hood

I've had vinyl in the past, it didn't last. It got stained from the mud when I went off-roading, the heat from the engine and sun baked it in. I could treat it with various things and make them disappear, but within a few days it would dry out and the stains would reappear. I can respray the hood with Plastidip 5 or 6 times for the cost of 1 vinyl wrap.

On the plus side, I found these on eBay to fix the clear coat problem on my door handles, and they'll match the hood.

Yeah those handles tie into your FJ's theme for sure Makes sense the vinyl doesn't last considering where you live, a true coating probably doesn't even work there
