What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

One comment said to just get the Scotch Brite out, the crazy thing is, that may actually be an option.

Yea, they should start selling steel wool wash mitts. Lol.

Doesn’t WD-40 protect stainless steel? That could be its form of “wax” lol.

Straight from the owner’s manual.

They certainly do have a way with words

Their rockets don’t explode…they have “Rapid Unscheduled Disassemblies”

Cybertrucks don’t start to look weathered but rather the finish is “Maturing”

I guess that’s their way of saying “patina”

They changed suicide doors to coach doors too. What the hell is a coach door? Lol. You have 1 of those cars, right?

First wash of 2024, on the hottest day of the year so far, so I started early. I got up just after 6am, had breakfast, walked the dogs, and started on the FJ just before 10am, it was already 30C/86f with 60% humidity. Used the Ryobi to pressure wash it outside, no foam because it's not real dirty and it's too hot, the worst was inside the wheel arches after driving through some local road works.

Moved it back inside the garage and gave it a RW wash with Ech2o, did the glass with Krystal Klear Bubble Gum Blitz on a Carpro Glass Mitt. I noticed the bullbar was looking a bit hazy, so I checked my shelf for what might fix it and protect it, I found some Mother's Carnauba Cleaner Wax that I've had on the shelf for at least 8 years, but still works fine. Because of the fiddly bits I just did it by hand. Finished it off by doing a light application of Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing. All done just before noon, just as it's hitting 35/95. We're meant to hit 39/102 by 3pm, but that's ok, because I'm sitting in the AC now.

Dave, I hope you enjoyed that wash even more knowing some of us can't even get out there to do anything

I wouldn't say I enjoyed it more, but I do know how good I've got it, even with the weather happening up and down the east coast here.

Is that a mirror you've got in the back of the garage?
Yeah, it's the door on an old wardrobe we brought with us from Sydney, we didn't need it, but I was told it had to come. 2 hours to pull it apart, 3 hours to put it back together without any instructions, but it has been useful for extra storage, and practising my dance moves.

The vette was a little dusty so I gave it a quick bath and topped it off with P&S defender.

I may be in the minority here, but I thought it was OK. I expected a little more gloss and smooth feeling paint. It was kind of grabby compared to other products I've used. I wasn't too impressed with it.

I had a job that got cancelled and I was actually quite happy about it. I really just wanted to chill this weekend and watch a few games.

Guy called me Friday and needed paint correction done on his Subaru. From the way he talked I had a sneaking suspicion that his needs were beyond my capabilities. He showed up and he must have driven straight from Elm Street because it looked like Freddy has dug his claw into the hood and dragged it all the way across the center of it. I’ve corrected paint but in this situation there was no paint to correct in that area. Referred him to my favorite body shop and went back to enjoying my weekend.

Just goes to show that what we call scratches and what customers think scratches are tend to be two totally different things.

No vehicular ‘toasters’ for me!

Had a PTO day so did a little detailing R&R.

Was a tough choice between vehicles since they both need it after this weather but happy wife, happy life.

Got to try a lot of new BF and Christmas purchases at least.

I did a bit of an interior clean up on the FJ today, I removed the front rubber mats and gave them a wipe over with ONR. Then vacuumed the floors and seats, and wiped down all the plastic flooring with ONR as well, the cupholder inserts were then soaked with ONR for a few minutes, before scrubbing with a brush, and wiping dry.

The dash, doors, and centre console were then wiped over with TWHS Inside Job.

While I had the rubber mats out I decided to do a patch job on the drivers mat where I've worn a hole with my heel. Originally I was going to cut some rubber and glue it with some epoxy, but then I remembered I had some anti-slip tape, thick heavy duty stuff, so I cut 2 squares and stuck one on either side. We'll see how long it lasts.

After almost 2 wks and lots of snow, sub-zero temps for days in a row, freezing rain and ice I did an INSANITY WASH today after work. Now why was it called INSANITY WASH you may ask, well the roads were wet, melting snow AND it was starting to rain and guess what...I don't care My subscription is only $23.00 a month and I haven't used it in almost 2 weeks and the EN was so crusty with EVERYTHING Mother Nature could throw at it.

The temps are going up and up, 50's the following weekend and I'll be out there doing a Ceramic Rinseless Wash from Griot's Garage, haven't used it on my own car but I will...oh I will for sure
