Horizon-MFG is the parent company I think

I remember hearing about this a while ago that Yancy had bought this company--interesting since they are around the corner from where AutoGeek used to be, and this is the description of their business (founded 2011) on LinkedIn:

"Our capabilities include custom formulation, blending, and packaging of liquid and powder chemicals. We work with a wide range of industries, including agriculture, automotive, marine, and more. We specialize in manufacturing car and boat care items, including waxes, polishes, cleaners, and protectants, as well as commercial goods such as industrial cleaners, degreasers, and solvents."

Somehow doesn't quite seem like a coincidence, the combination of their location, what they do, and that Yancy knew about them.

Every good business has a savvy leader behind it.

Yancy! Don't tell us any secrets.

LOL oh the theories will fly! Horizon MFG was a client of mine and I was in the right place at the right time and purchased the company from the previous owner. Thought it was a good fit for me since I have been in this industry for over 20 years now and have had the opportunity to work with almost all chemicals out there. Now I am making a line of products that I like using. Learned a lot over the past year since I purchased the company.

Good job with not telling us any secrets! Good luck with the new line.

PS Just call me Fox Mulder but it's a little too much of a coincidence that there's a company that does what Horizon does that's close enough to almost drive a forklift to from where Bob set up business--twice. But I have to admit, crazy coincidences happen, they've happened to me.

It's not for sale on AutoForge yet. Whether it does/does not show up might be one of the biggest clues.

Curious to hear reviews of the products. I keep stumbling into a lot of new brands lately.

There's no shortage of new ones. As long as I can afford it from my 9-5, I love supporting the new brands and giving them a chance. Gives me something to do on weekends!

The AGO brands aren't bad by any means but I'm on a "once you've tried one you get the feeling for all" kick with those these days.

These are totally new formulas and I am no way tied to Mckees or PBMG. Where I am located is kinda a mecca for car care and car related businesses, that is all coincidence. These are all my very own formulas which I have been working on over the past year.

I did the unforgivable. I did an exterior detail without polishing after claying. In my defense she’s a fellow teacher and we are underpaid and overworked and the owner is living on a single income in 2024 trying to afford housing. She really wanted her “new to her” vehicle to shine but is on a tight budget. I didn’t feel comfortable trying to convince her to go for a polish, especially since you can’t see in scratches in normal lighting. I did give her a few teacher appreciation freebies; namely a window coating, engine bay cleaning and a trim coating to restore her faded trim. She was more than pleased and said that it looked better than when she bought it, which isn’t surprising considering how dealerships “detail” vehicles.

Here’s a little dirty wheel porn for your Wheel Wednesday pleasure.

I washed a load of MFs, too hot and dry for anything else today.

A "couldn't wait to get off of work"...carwash

So the other day it rained most of the day and was windy, nothing out of the ordinary you might say but...the huge tree behind me had other plans for the EN, dropping parts of nestings from its limbs, onto a wet car, all over it🫣

At work today several co-workers said "I've never seen you car look THAT bad!", if only I could use my carwash subscription

Once I got home I got after it and in a hurry! I poured out 4 oz of CarPro Descale into my IK Foam Pro 12 and a gallon of distilled. Next I filled up my wash buckets with hot water (it's only 55 today) and decided to try out a new product...Griot's Garage Tide pods...urrr, I mean their version but for car washing. Lastly TWHS Hyper Foam, wanted the wheels AND tires very clean

I started with Descale and I'm glad I did because it broke down the stains from the nesting as well as the water spots, I could see it liquidating all of it! I let it sit for about 5 minutes, rinsed down and turned my attention to the wash

The Griot's Garage carwash pod was fun to use and easy. I had it sitting in the warm water of my wash bucket and some simple spraying from the hose made up a good amount of foam. Now the wash was average due to what the Descale did for me but I was happy with the lubricity of the soap and it rinsed away, looking forward to future uses

Next were the tires and wheels (I unusually do them first but the way the EN looked, I couldn't wait!) This product has been around for a couple years and I feel TW has left the community once again, although those who know know how good THIS product truely is! It's a tire and wheel cleaner, no doubt but on tires it pulls out the BROWN almost immediately, use a short brissel brush and it's a wrap

I re-rinsed the EN and used free flowing water and used Bilt-Hamber QD @3:1 as my drying aid and to give it some slickness and gloss (even though the CarPro Hydro2 Lite is only a couple weeks old) This is a great drying aid for me and while I had no issues @3:1 I made more at 6:1, it can go up to 10:1, I chose 6:1 going forward

I wiped down the engine bay and wiped down the tires & wheels w/ Bilt-Hamber QD and will dress the tires shortly, something from the collectiin

I'm soooo happy the EN is proper once again

I used up the last of my Mint MWash on this load, so I'll have to find a replacement, the website I bought it on has suspended my account. It's been a few years since I bought anything from them. Basically means I won't be looking on their website for random stuff I don't need. No point in browsing if i can't just click and buy.

Inactivity, I guess. I think it may have been linked to my old work email from 4 years ago. Maybe they sent an email and I didn't respond.

They have a new showroom now, I almost visited when I was in Sydney 2 weeks, but it was over 103f that day, I didn't feel like taking too many detours.
