What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Mostly an Interior detail on this Infinity SUV. Carpets were really dirty.

I ended up using Shout Foam Spray on the heavy grease stains and it knocked it out real fast. 2nd round with Megs APC, and a quick 3rd round with Folex.

I appreciate the kind words, but this 1 didn’t turn out so well… You’ll see what I mean.lol.

I just saw your thread and your a stand up guy Ric, just stick with the facts

Something sitting without tags means that cheap chrome plating just wasn't up to the task with all that neglect

When I got home I did a Gyeon Q2 ECO RW on the EN. This may only be my 2nd time using this product but it's moved to the top of the list as far as RW's (need a couple more washed with Labocosmetica Idrosave though) I'm such a Gyeon fan boy, I'd admit it but I just can't see how someone wouldn't just LOVE this product after ONE use

Just applied CarPro Clarify Phobic to my glass and I must say it's "finicky", maybe I need to use my Griot's Garage glass mf towels, the one I used (can't remember who's) might have made application more difficult

I've used Clarify Phobic 3 different vehicles, 2 are well cared for, the Qashqai and the FJ, and it was finicky on them, but on my brother's Outlander, which was not maintained, basically there was no protection on any part of it, it applied easily, not finicky at all.

What I take from this is that if there is any type of protection, or any other product on the glass, it's going to be fussy, but if the glass is completely bare, it will go on easy. Maybe I'll do a test, polish my windshield clean, go over it again with Eraser, then try it out again.

Thanks Dave

I just did that Gyeon Q2 ECO RW today and it DOES have protection. I then tried it on my g/f's Cruze, which had actual dirty glass and it seemed a little "finicky" there too

I'll keep plugging away at it but I did clean my daughters as well as my eye glasses and it worked great, the slickness is undeniable

Isn't this the cleaner/maintainer for Gforce? I have both (unopened) and had high hopes it would be a winning combo.
How is it finicky? Streaks and haze?

It does this streak/haze thing, gotta rub a little harder to level it out

Well that sucks. I bought this combo with visions (ahhhh catch the pun) of perfect glass and rain repelling driving. With ease of use. Gow did Carpro not design in ease of use on a new product? (Towards the competition out there)

It could be that I was a little heavy handed when using it, it does say to use less when spraying on coated glass. Muscle memory probably took over when I was spraying what my brain saw as a standard glass cleaner, it would also explain why it worked easily on the uncoated glass. So, go light I guess.

So I did the test with Carpro Clarify Phobic. I polished the windshield completely clean with Duragloss Nu-Glass on my Ryobi RO with one of the Ryobi supplied pads. Then wiped it over with Carpro Eraser. I could tell there was no protection left by the way the Eraser sprayed onto the surface, very flat.

Next I sprayed the Clarify Phobic, only 3 sprays for the whole windshield, it's only 16.5 inches high so it doesn't need much. And... It wiped off totally clear, and with minimal effort.

To continue the test I did the side windows next, without polishing anything off, and I did only small sprays on them, and it was definitely more streaky, I had to walk around a couple of times to finish them off.

While I was doing all this I also cleaned and treated my wiper blades, and de-hazed the inside of my windshield with Bowden's Naked Glass, which I also used very lightly, as per their instructions.

All done, time to move the FJ out and the Qashqai back in, and of course, it's started raining, so I dried the Qashqai off with the bigboi, almost as much fun as spraying foam everywhere.

I'm glad its not just me who found it tricky to use.

For me, I was getting quite a bit streaky haze that needed way more buffing than normal. In frustration, I actually went back and cleaned the glass again with Invisible Glass.

Now, this product was supposed to be able to help maintain an existing glass coating or provide hydrophobics to un-coated glass. I suspect you would need a Carpro coating for it to work with, because it clearly doesn't play well with Gyeon Quick View.

I was under the impression that Gyeon and Carpro share recourses?

Was rumored back in the day but I read somewhere someone with Gyeon in his user name said no…. Not sure.

It was more rumored and strongly suggested as products were a lot more similar that Tac Systems made CarPro’s products.

I don’t know about retail but I think Tac systems is the biggest manufacturer of them all and there products line is immense. I loved there tire coating if you consider it a dressing and it mixed with Perl is still my favorite tire dressing although I have a lot to try.

A lot of folks like Tacs soap Mystic Bubble better than reset but I actually think there the same with Tac edging out due to a better scent (blueberry?)

I think I finally may have landed a car that I have been dying to get my hands on. A substitute at my school drives a drop top BMW and all year I've wanted to put a coating on it and make it pop. Well, yesterday while walking to the playground I noticed it had three large bird bombs on the hood so I popped my truck and grabbed my emergency bird bomb kit and cleaned them off. I caught up with the owner during lunch and just informed him about the dangers of letting bird poo sit on unprotected paint and showed how one pile had already eaten through his clear coat. I wasn't trying to get him as a customer. I simply wanted to give him some info so he could better protect that baby blue finish. He ended up asking for a business card and now wants me to work on the BMW and his wife's Pathfinder.

FNW...with more of a purpose, C&C tomorrow morning, one I can actually attend

I started with a Bilt-Hamber Touchless pre-wash w/ the IK Foam Pro 12, let it dwell and rinsed it down. Upon rinsing down it just brings back the beading...BIG TIME

Next up was P&S Inspiration RADIANCE Ceramic coating maintence wash. Now this time I read the directions and I guess this is really one of those washes you do "every so often" because it says to use 6 oz per gallon, I used 15 oz to 3.5 gallons and it did suds up pretty well but that ratio is a little high IMO, not sure about using this product going forward but it does have great lubricity and rinsed down nicely, just not cost effective but then again I don't really "need' to use this often, right

Next was the usual tire & wheel cleaning and Brake Buster did its usual thing, this will ALWAYS be my main maintenance tire & wheel cleaner, all 4 brushes got used as I want the EN totally clean tomorrow

For a drying aid I used Nv Boost V2...now THIS product is "a somethin"! I only used 2 sprays per panel and it dried the panels nicely, even with the sun going down and temps in the upper 50's/low 60's, cool out. I have the other Nv "twins" but saving those for other times, maybe I'll finish off my Boost V2 bottle and mix the twins together since the reviews seem to say Boost V2 is the best of "the twins"

I'm about to go back out and apply, don't laugh, Mr. Cartoon tire coating! I thought I'd give one of his products a try, this just came out and I added TWHS Wet Wax & Hyper Foam to my order as well (free shipping). I'll report back tomorrow about how this product works, plenty of time to cure for sure

So I took my g/f's Cruze to the touch-free wash once I was all done. Along with me the same Bilt-Hamber Touchless in the IK Foam Pro 12. Anytime I'd use this wash, any touch-free wash, I ALWAYS use the squeegee to clean all the windows first, touch-free washes never get the glass clean. Upon doing it I heard that sound...sap residue

I let the Bilt-Hamber Touchless dwell a little longer before going through the wash. When I went to use my app it didn't work, so I paid for the basic wash, ### was going on here. Once in the wash I noticed the problem...I left my Wi-Fi on, so once the wash was done I turned it off and used my daily wash...yep, back to back washes, like I wouldn't do that

Once I got home I applied a coat of Mr. Cartoon to her tires, applied VERY well and then added a 2nd coat to my tires. Kinda curious about this product, it does say "Tire Coat' and it's a milky white...stay "tuned"

I haven't seen any of the Cartoon line in person, are the formulas different from the other TW lines?

The Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing I currently use on the Qashqai has the same milky white consistency. It's easy to apply, longevity is fine, as long as you don't rub the tyres on the gutters.
