What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Nice!!! ZR1s are amazing, too bad they are so pricey!

Had a dealer offer me more than I paid for the C7 to trade it in on a C8, but I cant see myself in a C8. They do nothing for me.

They'll NEVER do anything for me

C8’s seem to look porkier in pictures, perhaps because they usually show the entire car with that big fat back end. I probably subconsciously block out that part when viewing in person.

I think you could be right, my impression of it being biggish could be coming from looking back at the picture.

That shade of blue (Admiral Blue?) has to be one of the best colors ever offered!

C8 appeal for me depends a lot on color; I could see owning a white one and the availability of a hard top convertible would be nice/convenient.

In 5 years I think we’ve had our C7 targa top off maybe 3 times at most; it’s just a PITA to deal with. C8 also seems like a big car…not something I’m fond of. Also (IMO) too pricey for a Chevy; guessing a new mid-level C8 HTC would be $80-$85k…too rich for my blood.

Yup, it is Admiral Blue and I agree! It is a shame that it was discontinued!

I do agree about the Targa top, I would have preferred a hard top convertible since the targe top is a pain to use. I wish they would have done t-tops or a 2 piece targa top.

To me, the C8 is very large compared to previous models and seems like the nose is very tall too. I dont mind it too much in Red with the Black accents or the dark Burgundy color. I dont like it enough to buy one though lol.

I saw this one near where I walk my dogs back in February, I thought it was quite boring in white, and it seems big, but I've never seen any of the previous 3 models to compare it with. My old mechanic had a couple of C3s, I love that shape, but this doesn't really do it for me. The owner was standing near it smoking, he said he wouldn't let himself smoke inside it, I didn't have the heart to tell him he was still going to stink up his $200k car.

Some designs, while seemingly ugly when first unveiled, have that ability to grow on you over time. The C8 Corvette is NOT one of those designs, for me at least. And in this case, painting it fleet-car white does it no favors. (I still don't know why you buy a sports car in white, what a missed opportunity)

I wondered if maybe he bought the cheapest colour, but I looked on Carsales, it doesn't really matter what colour you want, they're all really expensive.

But I did find the colour I want, Riptide Blue.

Is the top too heavy, or unwieldy due to the size? Didn't they have glass ones in some of the previous Corvettes? Those must have been really heavy. They have stow space somewhere for the top? I was racking my brain trying to remember back in the heyday of T-Tops on the F-Bodies and some of the A-Special (did Klasse correct me to G-Body? I'm thinking about the Monte Carlo's, Cutlass Supreme, etc.), whether they had a way to stow them or if you just left them home or sliding around in the trunk.

It's 5.4" longer, 2.2" wider, and actually .2" lower (don't know about the nose), according to a comparison I found at GM Authority.

I like the C8, every time I see one I think how it reminds me of a Lamborghini. There is a white one around me that has more black accents, which I think looks pretty good, although I don't think I would get one in white, either.

To me, the C8 was such a wasted opportunity in terms of styling and overall, the car looks very generic supercar. No doubt it drives well, but I just wish they had of pushed the envelope more.

All G-bodies had a T-top option except the Malibus, some A-bodies had T-top options, i.e. the 1973-77 Cutlass' called The Hurst Hatch, even non-Hurst Olds' had em

I have no inside info so I'm just speculating here, like I did on that podcast years ago about the C8, but when the mid-engine was green lit the financial crisis of 2008-09 happened and the car was shelved. IMO what your seeing is left ovet styling from GM to save money because they knew people would eat it up because, well, it's "exotic"

I did an image search on 2014 Lambos and Fezzas, and I could see some of the same styling cues. So what you're saying does seem logical. It also explains why it looks good, but it isn't as ground breaking, or shocking, as it should be.

Last year I did an application of CanCoat to an elderly man’s 2006 Tundra. He loved it so much he came back to have his wife’s SUV detailed. He was expecting another application of CanCoat but I decided to give them the senior citizen special. They let me keep it overnight so I used McKee’s prep polish to bring out that beautiful silver luster and clean the paint. I had an old bottle of CarPro SiC that I needed to use so I put that on. I’m still shocked that one bottle was enough to do two coats and the finished product is the absolute slickest coating I’ve ever applied. I did a few panels with the last bit of EXOv5 I had and there is a noticeable difference which says a lot since EXO is pretty damn slick.

I also threw in a complimentary engine bay cleaning and trim coating just to finish off my bottle of CQuartz DLUX.

I’m 68 so if you consider me elderly I’ll have my car over there in about 15 minutes

How come CQuartz SiC never gets any buzz? When it came out I was very interested, but to be honest I've forgotten all about it because no one ever mentions it.

I don't know about the later models but the targa's for my '99 C5 are super easy to manage. I have both the matching body color (23U - Nassau Blue Metallic) and the clear tops. Not exaggerating that it takes less than a minute to either remove the top and stow it in the rear or vice versa. There's even just enough space under the stored top for my thinnest/lightest golf bag (walking style, not cart style). I like the C8's styling, the knock for me is automatic only. Deal. Killer.

I only bought it because it was on sale when I first started detailing professionally and grabbed a couple of bottles. I was still trying to figure out which brands I was going to stick with so I decided to give this a shot due to its price. I used one on my friends trashed Accord with peeling clear coat so I didn’t get to see the full effect. I decided on GTechniq and Gyeon coatings so this bottle had been in storage for over a year waiting to get used. Now that I’ve used it on a well maintained vehicle color me impressed. It is SLICK!

I watched Sandro’s review and he said that two coats held up pretty much as good as CQuartz UK 3 but had better slickness and water spot resistance. He tried two coats of SiC and UK 3 but found that the best results were SiC applied over UK.

All things considered, if I were looking for a two year coating, this is an excellent choice. The photos are compressed and don’t capture the gloss but it is impressive. The gloss, slickness and ease of application make this a great coating. Sandro said that best results are achieved when you wait about 5 minutes to level even if it flashes earlier and that’s what I did. I was able to coat 3 to 4 panels and then level with no issues and I like that. Coatings that have a long working time make me more efficient.

Got off of work early, picked up my daughter and we parked across the street, under the tree and washed the EN

I finished up my old bottle of DG RW that was mixed with TW Hoseless wash for today's wash. My g/f and I went for a little cruise last evening AND it rained overnight, so it was a little dingy

My daughter helped me dry a couple sections, she used the Griot's Garage PFM and I used The Gauntlet, came out great

I finished up with a quick vac, Griot's Garage Stinky Be Gone JDM squash scent and a wipedown of the engine bay, also sprayed down the wheelwells and tires & wheels and cleaned them too
