What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I’ve actually driven solo from Montana to home in less than 48 hours

You're a wild man! When I was 18 I drove to Florida, I was determined to get a job at SeaWorld (ok I might be making that part up), but I was tired of being down there, so I drove back, 24 hours (maybe it was 22) straight. (mind you, this was in the days of the 55 MPH speed limits, and I was white-knuckle the whole way thinking about getting locked up for being a Yankee going 100mph in GA etc.) I said I would never do anything like that again, and I haven't. I did buy a bunch of fireworks, however...maybe someday I will use them...kind of like my Blue Coral kit.

That was a long time ago

20 years this summer, so 48 years old

Now I can’t go 250 miles without getting out and unkinking my blown out knees and stuff a couple of times

Same reason I can’t do an entire car in a day anymore

Not my best detailing day

I washed some microfibers from a RW a few days ago

I have had these 15 towels for a couple of years now and they have done dozens of RW washes and been laundered dozens of times

But if they are in the dirty towel bucket for more than a day or so they are STILL bleeding off their color onto the plastic in the bucket and I end up putting hot water and a few drops of bleach in there to clean it out

It was hard to take a photo and the orange staining is much more vivid than the photo

I’ve never seen towels of any color do that before, especially after being used and washed so many times

Then I pulled the front mats out of the TX and gave them a good scrubbing and set them to dry

I got out the vacuum to do the front floorboards and wasn’t getting much suction

Between the dogs hair and cleaning up the sticks she finds and brings into the garage to chew up I’m about to lose it

I have to use my shop vacuum to vacuum out the canister of the worthless little stick vacuum that the boss bought that we use in the house

The dog hair gets packed in it so tight it won’t just shake out

I got it from the DIY Detail clay decon towel. I left it in a bucket of soap maybe 24hrs as I finished the polish. Still does it from time to time if I use it and drop it in to get through the other tasks.

Is the top too heavy, or unwieldy due to the size? Didn't they have glass ones in some of the previous Corvettes? Those must have been really heavy. They have stow space somewhere for the top? I was racking my brain trying to remember back in the heyday of T-Tops on the F-Bodies and some of the A-Special (did Klasse correct me to G-Body? I'm thinking about the Monte Carlo's, Cutlass Supreme, etc.), whether they had a way to stow them or if you just left them home or sliding around in the trunk.

It's 5.4" longer, 2.2" wider, and actually .2" lower (don't know about the nose), according to a comparison I found at GM Authority.

I like the C8, every time I see one I think how it reminds me of a Lamborghini. There is a white one around me that has more black accents, which I think looks pretty good, although I don't think I would get one in white, either.

Yeah they’ve grown on me. I just don’t know if I could settle on a base stingray.

How come CQuartz SiC never gets any buzz? When it came out I was very interested, but to be honest I've forgotten all about it because no one ever mentions it.

I think that it was more difficult to use so it fell off.

F N W

It's been days since I washed the EN last, I think it was Monday actually, so FOUR days...please forgive me

I had a bottle of Bilt-Hamber Karrosol to finish up, so at first I was going to just use it on the wheels, once that was done I did the entire except for hood, roof and top of trunk

While that was dwelling I foamed down the entire EN w/ Bilt-Hamber Touchless...wheelwells, tires & wheels...EVERYTHING

It was not a surprise how much the wheels bled because of my pads are perf pads but the rest of the car did too, about an average amount, so it just goes to show you, no matter how much you stay ontop of your car, contaminants are ALWAYS hiding

This dwelled for a bit and simply rinsed everything away, even the wheels came out VERY clean, inner exhaust tips too...NO TOUCHING anything either!

While the EN was beading and wet I decided to "boost it up" a bit using CarPro Hydro2 on everything, one panel at a time AND wheels as well...the beads turned into a trillion micro beads

I used free flowing water to rinse it away, dried it off and wiped down the jams, tires & wheels and engine bay...DONE

Starting Sunday we're going back into the 90's, Monday 97 even, so not sure when I'll be washing off the EN next...only if I could use a carwash

Took my g/f's Cruze to the touch-free wash because it was dirty AND sappy...Bilt-Hamber Touchless AND P&S Frostbite pre-wash to the reacue...I mixed them

I pre-treated her Cruze and then got in line, about 5 cars infront of me but it was worth it as it came out CLEAN

I came home and used some random Adam's coffee quick detailer on the tires and wheels to even them out, we'll inspect it better tomorrow...it will be washed again anyways

Washed my wife’s new kid hauler. 2024 Honda Odyssey Touring. I love the Platinum White Pearl.

3D pink, almost gone and ordered Meg’s Hyperwash this morning.
Meguiars wheel and tire cleaner.
PFM dry.
Griots Speed shine for the door jambs.
DP Need For Bead on the paint.

No full vehicle after pics, don’t feel like moving it out of the garage. But it’s clean. It was a dealer trade and therefore been washed a couple of times, I’ll do super light polishing at some point. But it’s not bad at all.

Wash time for the Qashqai, it got driven through roadworks late last week. Wheels first with Bowden's Wheely Clean, then I went with a 2B wash with Reset. Moved it back inside to dry it, it is winter here but it still dries too fast out in the sun, and dried it using TWHS Wet Wax, I seem to remember someone making a suggestion a while back. All done for the Qashqai, and the gloss is very good.

Next I thought I'd give the FJ a little attention, it is late in the afternoon so just a quickie on the interior. I remembered I bought some Carpro MF Gloves last year, and I was wondering what to use them on, recent reviews had said how good they were for doing interior cleaning and dusting, so I gave it a try. I can confirm they are very good for doing interiors, I used them with TWHS Inside Job, one thing I'd suggest, wear a nitrile glove underneath if you don't want whatever product you're using all over your hand. I was glad no one walked by while I was cleaning the hand brake, would have looked a bit wrong.

Another before dawn wash. Peaceful morning. Finished with flex wax as a rinse wax. Calling for a heatwave next week. Nearing 70,000 miles. Had it appraised the other day for fun at a dealer. Worth $27,000 on trade. Good number for an 18. But then again, I keep it pristine.

My BIL flips cars. This one, and about six more that he wants to sell, have been sitting under a gang of oak trees for over a year so they’re just a little dirty. A little old tree sperm, a few drops of sap here and there, some leaf acid from decay, and whatever else you can think of are bonded to the surface and I was totally ill equipped. But, I am somewhat proud to say that this car is back in the game.

Before this job I never realized the importance of GPM. I have the Acitive 2.0 but for this job I had to use my BIL’s Ryobi that is good for misting flowers and nothing more. I had my Rag Company clay towel and mitt but best believe for the future jobs it will be the most aggressive clay bars I can find.

Placed a nice order @Griot's Garage just now using my Father's Day gift certificate from my girlfriend

They've got a deal right now if you spend over $40 you get a bottle of their Ceramic Speed Shine for free, that's a great deal for a couple reasons, first it's a great product, next the spray bottle size AND sprayer are awesome and finally it's FREE

Now if you spend over $69 you get free shipping and everyone likes that! Speaking of shipping, well, I'm in Chicagoland and my order ships out of Indianapolis, so I should have my order Tuesday or Wednesday, sometime logistics work in your favor

I haven’t used ceramic speed shine, but regular speed shine is fantastic. I cannot find a fault with it.

And wow those cars were destroyed by the trees!
