What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Cleaned these gawdy wheels…pita imo, washed and clayed, going to put TW seal n shine on. Trying to use stuff up.

Did full interior Sunday. It’s like a new vehicle

Those wheels are gawdy, they are a very "busy" design. I get a headache just looking at them.

Nice effort, that's a lot of real estate to deal with.

It's almost as if the manufacturers are f**king with detailers. Those look like some of the crazy wheel designs by Mercedes.

I feel you

The verdict is still out on whether or not I like these visually but from a detailing perspective they are a PITA

It seems a wheel woolie can mostly grab those? Those ones above from minerigger look like they need an intricate brush and about 30mins per wheel... for a maintenance wash!

I hate wheels... probably because they'll be the first dirty thing in 5 miles.

I’m the same way, to me wheels are almost wasted effort

My microfiber wheel brushes and a wheel mitt take care of those U shaped cutouts pretty easily

It’s where the gunmetal overlay meets the black main body that sucks, all those blind cracks and crevices

It’s brush work in there

...but those wheels are AWESOME looking

This is where a coating is very valuable

I can’t argue with that

They have a couple coats of sealant and most days they just need a non contact cleaning and a spritz of Megs HCW at 3:1 and a rinse off and blow dry

It took me a minute to figure out why these were so familiar looking

They remind me of those round plastic puzzles where you have a maze and a ball that you have to tilt and twist and stuff to get the ball through the maze and into a hole at the end

They're the BMW M pads...Known to be dusters. At the cost of swapping, I'll keep riding dirty!

I understand...one of my cars the factory pads dusted like that, I think they were trying to compete with BMW and Mercedes at the time, so they figured they needed the wheels to be covered with black brake dust. I would wash my car and wheels on the weekend, and then wash the wheels in the middle of the week because the car was clean and the wheels were black. When it was time to do the front brakes, I installed Akebono Pro-Acts, and the front wheels stayed cleaner than the back, until I changed the backs, also. I understand not swapping them on an M.

Ironically the brake dust doesn't drive me as crazy as the piano black. I can live with the dust...it gives me reason to keep on cleaning!

The RFT tires that came factory were just dangerous in about 70% of Colorado's weather. Those got swapped in the first Fall. I actually sold the RFTs (somewhat used even) and got decent money. As long as the brakes aren't dangerous, I'll live with the dust.

I have been reorganizing space in garage for the detailing stuff I am trying to get it all in one general location.

For me, I wash in early morning to beat the sun so time is critical. I need to get it washed and then back in the garage to finish. I also gave a brother in law, a 2 bucket dolly and a DP car dryer (had a spare).

Another North Carolinian. I’m hoping to retire and move to a nice little town like Hillsborough.

I set up my new toy. Going from my old Ryobi to the Active 2.0 was a huge leap in cleaning power but going from the 2.0 to the 2.3 is noticeable, but not earth shattering. I mainly upgraded since I’m partnering with my BIL and his car flipping venture and I need something more potent than his old Ryobi. My Active 2.0 is now my mobile washer and the 2.3 will be my home machine.

I also despise wheels bigger than 18”. I want sidewall. More squish for a more comfortable ride, also being in Wyoming I want some tires with lots of meat and squish for snow, ice and off road

I getting ready to pull the trigger on the active 2.0. What hose and gun are you using?

I use the McKillans gun. I started with a 50 foot flexilla hose but read that Active pressure washers need a steel braided hose so I upgraded to a 100 foot Kobra Jet.
