What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Well they were doing some construction on our dock door, so my ended up getting a little dusty, so later on after work I did a Griot's Garage Brillant Shine rinseless wash on it...PURE clean

This product really should be talked about more, it even dries really, REALLY well

It's 2 more days till ADS Quartz gets applied...stay "tuned"

Looks great. I really liked the Griot's RW. Thought it worked really well. Doesn't get as much attention as the others.

Thank you

Griot's isn't about hype and flash, just results

Well this morning I did the major decons to EN's paint, stronger than usual pre-wash and stronger 2BM wash, plus a complete tire & wheel cleaning and Gyeon Q2 Wet Coat on the rims. A more "Deyon-esque" write up coming up much later today, I'm leaving shortly to head to The Bays/Car Supply Warehouse in Wheeling to be inside to polish the EN's paint to perfection and apply ADS Quartz Coating to it. It will then spend the night there and we'll pick it up at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

If I've got the time I'll be coating/cleaning my Alcantara bits, leather and interior wipedown, plus applying some fresh CarPro Clarify Phobics to the glass and a fresh coat of ADS Ghost tire coating...crap, there I go going on and on

A coworker of mine stopped me on my way home and needed some work on his wife’s SUV. It’s another one of those “it’s not that bad” vehicles that is a regular guest at the local tunnel wash. Their little crumb snatcher did a number on the interior and the exterior is less than pristine, especially for a car with such low mileage. His wife was thrilled to have it truly cleaned, inside and out and that’s all that matters. But, from a person with a detailer’s eye, this SUV is hammered. It looks shiny in the after pics but it’s swirled to death, the paint is faded and the roof is covered in water spots. I invited my coworker back to learn how to do a rinseless wash so that wifey never has to go to Auto Bell again and I hope he takes advantage of that.

Repeat of last Saturday. Cut grass again after all that rain this week. Then right after did the weekly Maintenace wash on the truck. Finished with Wolfstiens tonneau cover protectant. Wet wax as the drying aid. Nice weekend.

Klasse,
I had to look that place up as there is a Wheeling about an hour from me. I was thinking he couldn’t be talking about the same place. And you were not.
Don’t know if you are familiar with Jamie The Detailer but he is from your area and has several videos. Anyway he did one about going to that same place.
So then I guess one can rent a bay to do detailing on their vehicle or is that where one takes their vehicle to have detailing done.
The detail store looked impressive

I've heard of that guy, never watched his videos and that was before him teaming up with DJ Kalid and Scam, wouldn't know him in a crowd of one

As far as The Bays, he was probably at the Bolingbrook location, I was at the Wheeling location, a smaller scaled place but great nonetheless

The guy teamed up with EC Details is Jamie the Cleaner, not sure if that's a diff guy from Jamie the Detailer.

When are you starting your YouTube channel? You don't need much.

No time for that really, I've got an almost 9 year old and no Garage but I'd love to team up with an upstart YouTuber who's local

Different guy I finally figured out

I tried watching Jamie the Detailer's video on the recently discussed "hybrid wash" and he did several things that caused me to just shut it down about half way through

I am not even sure what the "things" were but they were unsafe in my mind

I saw that video. Only thing that stuck out to me was he did a pre soak (foaming with an APC) followed by a rinse less but didn’t do any pre soak with the rinse less. He also use one microfiber for the rinse less and never rinsed it out.
I can only assume he did both of those as he stated he removed vast majority of the dirt with the foaming/APC pre soak.

I think that was what I picked up on, not rinsing out the wash media and no rinseless pre soak

Removing the vast majority is all well and good but not having that little extra bit of insurance from a RW pre soak is silly to me

It doesn't take much dirt to wreck some paint, especially if you don't rinse your media or go the GD method

I think the other thing was him simply droning on and on about every little thing and turning a 10 minute video into a 30 minute video

I think I checked out at about 15 minutes

Jamie the Cleaner's video on the hybrid process was less than half as long

IDK, to each his own

Maybe I do need to have a YouTube channel...Klasse Actually, Keep It Simple Stupid, Deetroit...Take Pride in your Ride

Nothing special. After recovering from yesterday’s job I had to make sure that the Accord was ready to once again be the glossiest car in my school’s parking lot. Foamed with Auto Foam, contact wash with Reset and used Cure for a drying aid and Adam’s Graphene Tire Dressing to add a little pop to the tires. Darkside was still there but I needed that extra bit of gloss.

I think I could shave ten minutes off of my wash time if I didn’t do a second rinse for no other than enjoying how the water beads up and falls off the panels. I think my love for detailing is returning and I’m no longer doing things out of obligation or to pay bills.

I’m just trying to keep up with you. I don’t normally like light colored cars but that slight touch of grey in yours makes the paint pop.

Sometimes I just don’t get it. After cleaning your car you can step back and look at it with a sense of joy. I’ll never understand how so many people just let these expensive possessions go to hell.

Thank you!

My paint is 3 different colors depending on the light, has pearl in it, helps change the color
