What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Yeah touch-free washes NEVER get the rear/hatches. I'm sure Koch Chemie has a pre-wash that will help, something is better than nothing but I'd like to steer you towards Bilt-Hamber Touchless or Auto-foam...trust me

Thank you, I knew I made a mistake when I started looking on the Koch site. It was Bilt Hamber I was trying to think of.

One of the greatest! Remember Drew and Mike playing those drops all the time?

I started listening to the Drew Lane Podcast recently in honor of my Uncle that recently passed away. He introduced me to that show in the 90s. But the format of the podcast is so close to the original thing, just missing Mike (RIP).

Kock Chemie is an ok brand, especially Mp (Motor Plast), it's the best engine bay detailer I've ever used

Bilt-Hamber Touchless or Auto-foam will make your winter pre-washes a great experience! Depending on the size of your pump sprayer you'll need anywhere from 4oz to 8 oz to a gallon, plus how dirty your car is, you'll find a ratio that works for you without a doubt

Glad your listening to the podcast and yours truely has been on the past 2 bones lines Today's boner line is at the end of the show, I give Jim credit for his list...that's me. Last week's bones line I was on there twice, first at the beginning talking about "Telephone Song" and then later talking about Valerie Bertanelli's "aftershocks"

Perfect timing with Black Friday coming up. My vehicles get dirty in the winter with this dirt road. Thanks for the recommendation!

I’ll listen for you on the newest episode. It takes me awhile to get through an episode due to the kids lol

Exterior detail. Wash, decon, clay. Game them a free application of Phobic.

Labocosmetica and ADS products, oh and carpro Descale, cleansing my shelf of the last of that supply making room for more purifica.

I enjoy using Sidero, the gel really clings to the surface to get that super long dwell time.

If yinz have not yet tried labocosmetica products...go getcha some.

I have tried so far-
Primus 2.0
Purifica
Sidero
Energo

It is really awesome how versitile they are, dilutions are on the bottle and just flat out work

It's a little messy on my fingers, probably should wear gloves doing it, but it comes off easy enough with hand soap. It's not messy at all on the glass, most factory wiper blades come with a graphite coating. Locksmiths recommend graphite for lubricating locks, it's hydrophobic, and dust and dirt don't stick to it or clump potentially gumming up the mechanism. Glaco sell a graphite wiper blade, but show no hydrophobicity on it, I suspect this is because it doesn't leave a coating on the glass.
I'm a graphite fan from way back, I have a bottle of graphite lock lube, GM used to recommend it, back when there were...locks. I still have a stain on my downstairs carpet from where I dripped some ArcoGraphite motor oil, that was good stuff, no one remembers it.

I watched a Mike G video on Armour Quartz Pro. I must say I was rather disappointed in the performance. The beading left a lot to be desired and parts of the rear of the vehicle were dead. I gave my wife’s car a wash to check the beading of her CSL+EXOv5 installation and after almost 20 months it’s still performing like it was installed yesterday. I want to replace CSL+EXO with Quartz Pro since in theory, it should only take one layer to equal or surpass the performance of those two, according to ADS, but I need further convincing to make the switch. Decisions. Decisions.

Is that the test subject that had gotten over spray on it?

Its difficult to make a switch from something you know and what works.

I have never tried the csl or exo.

I also have never had any of the ADS coatings long enough to test their durability claims for my self

I wouldn't put too much stock into one video. If quartz pro doesn't perform up to your expectations then I'm sure ADS will make it right with you one way or another. Perhaps send that video to ADS and point out what you see wrong and see what they have to say about it.

That’s where my head is at. It was one video and I have no idea what that singular vehicle has been through or how it was maintained. I’m gonna bite the bullet and get a bottle and Phobic and see what happens. Based on what everyone has said about the brand I’m sure it’s a quality coating.

Yeah I'd send him the video and point out your observations as well. That said, I only have positive, off the charts things to say about my ADS Quartz experience, not even Pro

I'm serious when I say this, I have a greater appreciation for my EN after the application and needed it because with all the bad experiences with knock sensors and my tune I seriously thought about getting rid of the car

Get extra spray nozzels. I cleaned the nozzel after first use with a napatha based wax/grease remover and went to use it again yesterday and i had to pull the sprayer top up after each spray. Maybe i need to clean a different way, i dont know.

The Qashqai got caught out in the rain on Thursday, so time for a wash, but it didn't get very dirty, so I didn't go with Reset, and conditions were perfect for Gyeon Bathe+. Completely overcast, high humidity, and about 27C/80f. I did the wheels first with Wheely Clean, and while they were wet I sprayed them with some 303 Touchless Sealant. Next up was the 2B wash with Bathe+, I did it in 3 sections, but the high humidity meant there was no issues with it drying before rinsing it off. Then moved it back inside and dried it with my big blue drying towel, no drying aid. Also I got to test out my new hose, zero kinks, and very easy to manoeuvre around the car, but it's really creepy when you pressurise it, it writhes around like a snake.

After the Qashqai was finished, I looked at the FJ and thought, why not, but I only washed the silver paint, it started raining just after I started, and I didn't feel like climbing up to do the roof in the rain, on a slippery driveway. I also sprayed the plastidip on the hood with 303 Touchless Sealant to see how that works out. I was rinsing it in the rain as I finished, I'm sure I got some funny looks as people drove by. But at least I didn't have to dry it.

Oh you’re in good company, Dave. I know I can’t be the only other person that has washed in the rain. If it’s raining and the dirt road is a disaster, I’ll get the power washer out and blast all of the still wet mud off the paint and wheel wells etc. No need for drying is sometimes nice lol.

I blasted the slop from the snow and dirt roads/ tree farm off after getting a Christmas tree yesterday. New tires get put on Monday, didn’t want the tire folks to work with nasty wheels and old tires.

I helped a member of the N Chicago Discord group this morning with his white EN at The Bays of Wheeling

I asked him what he was using for soaps and didn't hear back from him until I was already there and when I found out what he was bringing I was kinda bummed out...Mequiars Gold Class

I brought items to clean & protect the tires and wheels:

-Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Tire/Wheel/Mat Cleaner

-ADS Wheel Cleaner

-ADS Ghost Tire Coating

-Gyeon Q2 Wet Coat

-My Quattro of Tire & Wheel brushes

I started by spraying ADS Wheel cleaner on his wheels and letting it dwell, then hit the tires w/Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Tire/Wheel/Mat Cleaner on those Continental DWS06+'s...love cleaning and dressing these tires

Once done there I helped him with washing the car, I just couldn't help myself and found myself rinsing the car too, I then handed him the sprayer, I'm such a busy body, not even my own car

I used the monster EGO Blower to dry the tires & wheels and a good portion of the car, he hand dried the rest of the car with one of my Griot's Garage PFM's, good thing I'm prepared

I finished my portion of the wash by applying the first coat of ADS Ghost, used the EGO dryer to speed up curing and then applied a 2nd coat of Ghost to finish it off

I think the car came out nice but his Gyeon Q2 Syncro @1.5 yrs old is all done but maybe, just maybe, had we used Bilt-Hamber Touchless on the paint it "might" have restored the coating because rinsing off the soap showed barely any beading and flat water
