What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Had to go mobile today. Unfortunately my client’s ride home got sick so she couldn’t drop off where I could work on her car in my nice heated garage. I now have a newfound respect for those mobile detailers that work outdoor all the time, especially with temperatures rapidly dropping.

It was cold, the car was in the shade making things colder and the wind was blowing. Two and a half hours of freezing my ass off and the customer has clear headlights and a clean car. I know you’re supposed to polish after claying but in the time between this detail and her previous detailer’s last job she felt as if she had no option but to go to a scratch ‘n’ shine wash tunnel and it did a number on this paint. She plans on getting it repainted and then we can start fresh with properly protecting the new paint.

Umm...what?? That car needs to be repainted? From 10' it looks perfect.
Maybe not the entire car but the front bumper is trash. You can’t tell from pictures but there isn’t a square inch on it that doesn’t look like it was pelted by a thousand pebbles. Something scratched the hell out of the roof. It looks like what would happen if an automatic wash brush had something stuck in the bristles that was very abrasive. Either that or a mountain lion was tap dancing on the roof. She’s also got some other really deep scratches down to the metal. The car is paid for and she plans on keeping it until the wheels fall off over the next year she’s looking to replace all of the faded trim and repaint the entire car.

Just placed my order with ADS. Grabbed a bottle of Quartz Pro, panel prep, and thanks to DFB’s drying aid review, a few bottles of Amplify. It was buy 2 and get one free and with wholesale pricing it was an unbeatable deal and I needed to reach the free shipping threshold.

So I stepped up to maintain my EN MUCH, MUCH better, especially during the winter

This was a no-brainer with the Black Friday sale, breaks down to less than $40.00 a month because I bought the 3 hr per month package. Now this might not seem like much but I can break it down to (2) 1.5 hr sessions, (3) 1 hr sessions or even a single 3 hr marathon, all inside a warm, open work space with all the tools at my disposal, something I DON'T have at home, obviously

During the winter I can blast the salt away, do a proper 2BM AND use Bilt-Hamber Touchless in a foam cannon, boost my protection with a spray on, hose off product (ADS Beads and Pure:est S1 on deck) and dry off...in comfort, no matter how cold it is outside

Besides the car benefiting from all this there's my mental health...I HATE WINTER!! Being able to set up a time to go in there, leave my worries behind and UNPLUG and look forward to the process...PRICELESS

Being a member has benefits too, like discounts on extra time if I need it and a slight discount on detailing supplies in their store front

Btw I had to power through the picture they posted, the discount made it worth having to see him but I'm sure that was taken at the Bolingbrook location, not Wheeling but I did see Ivan at Wheeling a couple monthes ago, didn't approach him, showed up to see/hear the Dr. Beasley rep and infact Ivan was just there @ Wheeling this past Wednesday November 27th, so this location gets it's share of notables as well

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on ADS, great call on Quartz Pro and remember to have several applicators ready because they do infact "crust up" within 30 minutes, I applied regular Quartz and ended up using the single, provided applicator (both sides), without an issue but it did crystallize by the next day

Also...welcome to the cult that is ADS product usage, your in good hands

You are going to love Amplify!

My pal wanted a lesson in ceramic on his ERay. I won a bottle of Adams Multi Surface Ceramic at their open house so that got the nod. A lot of curves on this one. I put him on both ends with a Pixie & 3" pad and I ran the CBeast with 5". 3D One was used with prep wipe down after because we could, not that we have to with 3D One.
He's elated by the shine. Yes, it goes like hell!

That seems like a cool car. I dunno about driving it in the snow, as they suggest (due to the AWD), but I guess if you've gotta drive your Corvette in the snow, that AWD is better than RWD.

I dunno about snow driving in a 'vette. Guess it depends on where you are. Round here even IF you swapped out those tires (because you are going nowhere in the snow with those stockers) with that ground clearance about the only thing it would be good for would be plowing the alley with the front fascia . . . and finding whatever hard objects are lurking beneath the snow cover.

I have absolutely no experience driving in snow, but I have driven on beaches, the only place I ever got struck. But I watched a video the other day comparing a Crosstrek with a RAV4 in heavy snow, they were the "off-road" variants. Neither got all the way up the hill, but the Crosstrek got further, it seems it had slightly better ground clearance and a better AWD system, the Toyota's kept overheating which is concerning. I think both were running original tires as well. Obviously the ERay won't be going off the pavement, but ground clearance could still be an issue.

I got my first shipment from ADS and I must say that I’m rather disappointed. This hers is ADS Quartz Pro and it came in a plastic bag. There’s no satisfying feeling of opening a premium packaged product and then applying it on a customer’s car. This does inspire confidence at all. I’m sure I’m just being a bit petty but even Cerakote, which sent me their coating for free, has a much better presentation than this.

I don't know what that's all about but PLEASE send this pic to Bradley TONIGHT so he can make this right! I'm a new customer of theirs but there's NO WAY he'll accept this

Is it possible that since Optimus is a business customer that they use cheap packaging because they don't need to impress him? Maybe they see the pro customer differently than the enthusiast, where the enthusiast wants to have the whole experience, while the pro just wants to get the job done. I'm just offering some perspective on how they may see it.

This is the response I got.

This is how a few of the PRO kits went out during Black Friday. We ran out of the boxes due to such an influx of Black Friday orders, instead of cancelling your order because we couldn’t fulfill the coating, we figured you would rather have the actual product instead of nothing. So you received all of the necessary items that come in the kit, just without the box.

If this is unacceptable for you, I am happy to send you a return label for the coating, and once received back in our hands and inspected we can refund your money for the item.

Took possession of the new CarPro WheelX, can't wait to try it as it's been getting great reviews, like from Sandro for instance

Also picked up a 500ml bottle of Ech2o as my 1000ml bottle was down to about 1/4 tank

Next were these upgraded handles for my 5 gallon buckets, little things mean alot

Moving along I grabbed some felt filters for my IK foamers, thought I was getting low...I wasn't

On sale was one of the few products from Koch Chemie that I REALLY like...Mp (Motor Plast) This product is THEE BEST engine bay dressing I've ever used, now I've got a FULL bottle ready to step in so I don't miss a beat

Getting low on microfiber towel detergent I decided to try some CarPro MFX. Now I love my 3D Towel Kleen but it wasn't available, so I decided to try a litre of this, great reviews

I think I'll be going to The Bays next Thursday to wash the EN, so I've got a couple "new to me" products to try:

-ADS Decon soap
-Pure:est S1 (spray on, hose off)
-ADS EZ Beads
