What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

So I removed the tailgate and took care of the problem. I sanded the rusty areas down to bare metal. Then treated the bare metal with phosphoric acid. Then primered and painted those areas.

Wow...get 'er done. In my present state of procrastination, that would have taken me about 3 months.

Well I discovered the surface rust about a month ago. Temps today are 80 degrees and sunny so great day to resolve it and I was able to do it outdoors.

I guess this could be considered detailing. My back up camera quit working on the Tacoma. So in the course of trouble shooting that issue i removed the inside cover of the tailgate.

When i removed the cover i saw there was surface rust near the bottom ( inside portion) of the tail gate. The Tacoma sits outside and i guess a little water gets between the plastic tailgate cover and the tailgate and most likely stays wet for a while. With the cover in place this area cant be seen and i was unaware that it started to rust. So I removed the tailgate and took care of the problem.

I reinstalled the tailgate but left the inside cover off. Ill let the paint cure for a few days and before i reinstall the cover ill treat those areas that i painted with Fluid Film. I have to install the new back up camera anyway which i have ordered and it is on its way to me which requires the cover to be off for installation.

Nice! (y)

If it ever does, it’ll be nice to know nobody’s “faking it” as if the wheel had just been invented aka a DJ Khalid video.
Start thinking of a catch name...just throwing it out there DJ Da'ville

So it's a tale of two days, this morning, pic #1 and then the end of the work day, the rest of the pics

After work, since it was nice and dry after all the snow, I took the EN to the touch-free wash in hopes it would look "better", it did...kinda but we all want BEST, so a contact wash was THEE only thing to remove the water spot/haze on the top surfaces, looked like sh!t after the touch-free, damn it looked bad

After dinner I made up a mix of 2 oz of DIY Detail v2 RW & 1 oz of Labocosmetica Preludio acidic and a little over 3.5 oz of water and 5 ADS edgeless microfiber towels and got after it

As I pre-treated each section and wiped on the paint I knew it would come out great...AND IT DID! I like how flexible these Labocosmetica pre-treat RW formulas are, not sure if anyone has tried it this way but I did and I couldn't have been happier with the results

NOW it's clean and will see another touch-free wash...Saturday before my oil change at the dealership, my last complimentry one from them, the day before my 3 year period, talk about last minute

Supporting the Aussie economy once again, this time in a smaller but equally cool way

I gotta find out if it's laminated, this way it will hold up to "my environment"

Had to wash my car for the third time in 5 days. First was my usual Sunday wash and then my car was viciously assaulted by tree sperm while I slept. The assault continued throughout Monday and finally on Tuesday I couldn’t help but give it a quick RW. Then today after a decent rain I got stuck driving home behind a large truck that made it a point to splash in every puddle that coated my car in a nice layer of dirt and mud necessitating wash #3.
