What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Gave the Mustang a little loving this mourning.

Presoak with Road Warrior
Foam washed with Hyper Wash
Panel wipe
Sealed with Feynlab Ceramic Detailer
Dressed tires with Carpro Darkside
Dressed wheels with Optimum Hybrid Elixer

Going to try to fight the urge to top the Feynlab with anything to see how long it lasts. Should last the 3 months they claim as its a garage queen.

Definately like it for its ease of use and goes on very sparingly. I also found it to be very slick but as it was parked next to the Chevelle I was able to check the slickness on both at the same time and I was unable to feel a big difference. The Chevelle was just polished and has Ultralock topped with 845, so that is also a pretty slick combo.
If it ends up lasting the 3 months I could see using regularly just for the ease of use factor.

Sounds a bit like Autoglym Car Glass Polish. Not really a polish, but great for removing contaminants off windscreens, both the inside and out. No scent from memory, but can dust a little too. It will remove a Rain-X level coating. I always have some on hand in case I work on my brother's car, his other half is a smoker, although she swears she never smokes in the car.

Have that but ran out, and bought some duragloss ? Like you have for the exterior.

Yeah, I have the Duragloss as well, I had to remove some waterspots off the side glass on one of Commodores years ago, it came from the dealer that way. It works well, definitely stronger than the Autoglym stuff.PSX_20250513_092743.jpg

Is that a frequency drive for the pump motor? Looks like a legit build.

No, I didn't go that fancy on it. The box contains a Manual Motor Protector, contactor, Fuse holders, 220V to 24V power supply, power meter (left over from another project) and a Delay on Off timer. I also have an hour meter on it that has a service reminder that is set for 50 hours which is the first oil change recommended by AR. The motor has no built in thermal protection which is why I have the manual motor protector.
The delay on off keeps the motor running for 30 seconds after I release the trigger which gives me time to move around cars and not have the motor and pump turning off and on constantly, I found that annoying on my other units. I believe the constant on and off of a TSS system on a pressure washers motor leads to reduction in its life expectancy.
The motor is a 4hp Nicolini with an AR pump rated at 3.5GPM at 1600PSI and AR unloader with built in TSS switch.
I am using a 7.0 nozzle and get 3.4gpm at 1000PSI, it's a big step up from the entry level Ryobi's I have had, and the Cat 1800 rebrand of the Active 2.0
My goal was to build a unit for less than the Kranzle KS1322TS which I did.

I need to polish some windows here.. my Jetta also came factory with spots on the glass that laughs at any and all chemicals. Clay pad didn't do anything either. I need some fresh glass polish. My carpro bottle is probably 7 or 8 years old and seems less creamy that it was new. Probably expired.

Very nice, well done!!! Clean enclosures are happy enclosures lol. I stare into cabinets and enclosures for a living. So that all looks familiar. Fuse holders and all.

Again, nice build. Something to aspire too when I finally have a real garage, not a glorified carport with a door. Lol

Oh, during the wash today I found 2 new stone chips on passenger side, bottom edge of door above rocker. Those wide sticky tires through debris all over the side of the car I'm learning, it looks clean without large mud guards but seriously considering some after suffering these chips. Averaging one stone chips per 100 miles roughly. Not cool man, not cool. Need that PPF, but wife wants to direct money towards house again. Not $2500 on PPF lol

Not sure what the previous owner used as a wash media but my god are these taillights swirled x_x Definitely gonna have to clean these up, I won't unsee this lol. Would Perfect Finish be a wise choice?

I did the CeriGlass treatment to one of my cars, never again! It's certainly effective, but what a messy, time consuming process.

I can however easily recommend P&S Clarity Creme. It's sort of a hybrid polish and deep cleaner, it won't remove scratches but then not much can from glass. But it will remove water spotting and haziness. It's also much, much, much nicer to work with and will wipe off easily. The only drawback is they don't put it into a smaller bottle. I've teamed it with a Lake Country Blue SDO foam, and most recently, a Rupes DA Coarse Wool.

The mess is why the bottle has expired. Lol. Did it once, and like you said, never ever again. Certainly open to try something easier to clean up, or not clean up at all. I will look into this one, thanks buddy!

To this day, I've never tried a single one, nothing ever got me motivated

Yeah, they never really grabbed me either. I know a lot of people like CSL and EXO coatings, and CSU is supposed to VERY stout, but most of the stuff I tried was underwhelming.

Two products stand out though. Firstly, Tri-Clean is a very nice interior cleaner, flashes away to a residue free finish and has anti-microbial elements in it too. Would I buy it again, probably not as I much much much prefer ADS Pilot and P&S Xpress. The Citrus Pre-Cleaner was good too, not Touch-less good due to its pH neutral formula, but capable and great foam.

G-Wash is nice, smells the same as KCx GSF but without its slickness and foamability. Early versions of Panel Wipe were known to soften clear coat, I tried it and didn't see the appeal. The bug cleaner, meh, the same as the rest.

Clarity Creme is on another page for ease of use. I'd still tape up before starting, and it will dust a little bit but nowhere near the mess created by CeriGlass. You also don't need supramental wetting agent or need to be extremely careful with residue and heat control. The only other thing I would say is so prime the pad lightly before use, then only use smaller amounts per section. It's not like a normal creme-like compound, its quite runny so that can be flinger if you over do it.

Yeah i bought it because you had it, used it on the Camry windscreen and it's a fairly brand new one at that, did pick up my first rock chip.

And I don't know if you can answer this but there seems to be some spots that I CAN'T remove on the interior glass could this be because its fairly new or suction cup mark's etc.

Does have wiper blade marks in the glass were my nephew was using shit wiper blades 🤬🤬

I've only used Nu-Glass on the external glass. I bought it for the hard to remove water spots, it seemed a bit too strong to use on the inside for me. You've probably already tried this, but I'd go with a damp MF first up, and progress to some glass cleaner or diluted IPA from there. I'm always extra careful on the inside of windscreens after scratching one of mine removing a rego sticker, so glad they're ancient history now.

I like their glass coating and glass cleaner too. We’ll see if ADS glass coating performs because it was way easier to use.

I always say that I'm tempted to try the sanding method--there is a company here in the US that sells glass polishing supplies/equipment and they have a range of 3M PSA discs for glass, I think there are 5 or 6 grades, and more recently they came out with their own similar captive line. They also sell various cerium oxide solutions, as well as chip repair and headlight restoration stuff.

One day I got into their online chat to ask some sanding questions, and after a few they asked what I was working on and I replied "auto windshield" and that was about the end of that chat, they said you can't polish windshields, you have to replace them, etc. I told her I understood the "company line" but...people polish windshields.

Yikes, nothing like that on the paint, though?
No, the car was polished recently, mileage wise anyway. It was in 2020, but only the taillights and the vinyl stripes in some spots show signs of poor media choice. Old guy....probably using dawn and a scotchbrite dish sponge or something silly. Some spots would be impossible to get to, like in and around the "SHELBY" badge on trunk lid.

Going to be a lot of work getting that marring out of those depressed sections--my fingers are hurting just thinking about it.
