What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I'm not doing it

PS Besides, I bought all those rinseless sponges a few months ago to do a detailed comparison....and I got zero response to that thread...probably because I didn't do it...and why is this M22 towel 20 x 20? Since it's $22 and 2200 GSM, shouldn't it be 22 x22? That's it, I'm not buying it until they make it bigger. Humph.

Hey Chilly--did I out-curmudgeon you yet? I can keep going...

Hey Setec

I don’t know, we seem neck and neck through the home stretch

Link me to this sponge thread you speak of

I just got to loving sponges, the McKees Big Golden in particular, and they changed it

Heavy sigh

That's what I'm saying...I never did it--everybody was doing the sponge thing except me, and ADS came out with a new sponge, and DIY came out with a new sponge...so I went crazy and bought...5?...sponges (maybe it was 4) and I was going to compare them because it was my contention they all came from the same factory and were just different colors...so I started measuring and taking notes...and then I got distracted, and life....so no thread.

I think I did decide that they were all different...which doesn't mean that some of them aren't made in the same factory, just to different specs.

I haven’t had anything but the Big Golden in my hand but I certainly agree, at least superficially, that they look so identical

I think, just based on UToob, if I needed some and couldn’t get any more Big Gold sponges I would buy the TRC gray safe sponge

In between flapping my gums and flexing my 2 typing fingers I got the dog's crate and cargo liner out of the big car and detailed the cargo area and second and third row seating

We have guests flying in on Friday and it wouldn't do to have a dirty car

I worked on the driver's row yesterday and undid all the mess the techs made at the dealership, and got mad all over again in the process

Every time I thought I was finished I would spot another thumb print or smudge

I like me some gauntlet towels
The 15x24 are a great size for me personally

I went ahead and ordered 8 more 15x24 Gauntlets with free shipping

I’ll have a total of 14 so I’m good to go

M22 is out now

I love the reference to the airborne tank developed for the Brits. The M22 Locust was to be able to be delivered by glider so airborne troops had "armor" at the drop zone. I'm one of the few history nuts you'll meet that actually like light tanks. M5 Stuart is bae <3

I'll still be ordering more TRC Double-Twistress towels, those are my favorite drying towels to date.

I have some of them somewhere, I should probably try them, eh? That's why I'm not going to buy any M22's, I buy more towels...and then I never use them because all my old ones still work fine.

I love mine. Have 6. Wanna get to 10. They work so well once a tiny bit damp. I use a master blaster to assist in drying my cars so a towel that size is plenty since 90% has been blown off already. DI stopped listing them and I got worried they were discontinued. I was happy to discover they weren't. A pack of two is $24 on Amazon without a sale.

Gave the ProCut a well-deserved wash today!

Bilt Hamber Touch-less at 1.5% PIR. This was foamed on and left to soak for 5 minutes, which allows the product to penetrate and break down the dirt for easy removal via the pressure washer. Touch-less is fantastic for this sort of thing because you really don't need to use a brush or sponge, just let the chemical do its thing.

After rinsing, time for Carpro Hydr02, which is a spray on, rinse off touchless sealant. A misting of Meguiar's Hyper Dressing, the mower was the dried off with my leaf blower. Back to spec........................

I have some of the 15x24 Gauntlets and besides drying extremely well I love the size for a four fold final wipe down

Big enough to cover some real estate but not too big

These new towels look interesting plus they are my favorite color

Damn you

Stick with the Gauntlet, they are the better towel.

The Gauntlet is a very well-balanced towel, especially the 15x24 for drying. They run smoother over the paint, and being of medium thickness, they aren't too bulky while also providing a nice cushioned feel to better distribute the pressure points of your hand. Being a hybrid split loop, they also have very good absorbency.

Currently, I use the 15x24 for larger vehicles or for drying after a rinse-less wash. The small 12x12 is my wheel towel. I just wish they made a 16x16, I've had to go elsewhere to get that, the Microfiber Madness Chipmunk Jr. Having said that, TRC are in the process of making a 16x16 Gauntlet, although I'm not sure when it will be available.

This is the Chipmunk, I wouldn't say that its better or worse than the Gauntlet, rather its a better size for me. I will say, it does have a slightly thicker/plusher feel to it.

So I went to The Rag Company site and read their advertising for the M22 towel. In the first line it says " inspired by the WWII Locust tank". I actually laughed when I read that. Seems like an odd comparison to me. A towel compared to a tank?
Who writes this stuff?
Anthony Fisher authors the product descriptions.

Any areas of concern when pressure washing a mower as far as getting water where it shouldn't be? I'm usually using a garden hose and being careful around the air filter and the top of the motor.

I keep mine blown off with the Ego and wash it occasionally with leftover bucket soap and rinse with the garden hose

I’ve never foamed or pressure washed the top side

I do pressure wash the underside several times a season to keep buildup to a minimum

I’m more concerned about it rusting out from the bottom than the top

After sitting on my ass for a couple of weeks due to a pulled calf muscle I did a coating check/maintenance wash on my last coating job. I really wanted to see how functional the EGO backpack sprayer is as a rinseless machine and I have no regrets buying it. 3 gallons in the sprayer was enough to pre-soak, rinse off the grit from the lower panels and wheel wells and soak again before doing my contact wash.

On a side-note, if anyone is looking to make a large purchase such as a new polisher or something pricey, I have a wholesale free shipping code at DI and coupled with my wholesale discount can save one of you a good bit of money. There’s a $349 minimum and as of now I don’t’ need that much in supplies.

Much like engine bays, try to avoid focusing the foam cannon or nozzle on one spot for too long. You could wrap the air filer box with a plastic bag, but I never do.

Normally, I'll just spray the mower with an alkaline wheel cleaner (Wise Guy, Brake Buster) or an APC (Surfex HD). On this occasion, I had a small amount of Touch-less left, not enough to do a car with, but plenty for this job.

Of the countless times I've cleaned mowers using water (hose or pressure washer), there has only been one occasion where I had an issue. After the wash, I fired the engine, but it was running erratically. I quickly traced the problem to some moisture getting past the rubber sparkplug boot, some compressed air sorted it out. Since then, I specifically avoid directing chemical or water in that area.
