What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Maintenance wash for old blue this morning.

Tyres - P&S Undressed
Wheels - Carpro Reset via the foam cannon
Rotors - BH Atom Mac

Washing - Carpro Reset and a TRC Cyclone Ultra
Drying Aid - ADS Adapt
Engine Bay - Carpro ECH20
Glass - Invisible Glass
Interior - ONR

Wheel & Tyres - ADS Amplify, OG Tyre Dressing

While most know ADS for Amplify, Adapt is a bit of sleeper in my opinion. It may not be as fool proof as Amplify, but it's not far behind, and to me, Adapt feels a little slicker. And as the name suggests, Adapt can "adapt" to multiple roles. In today's case, I used it as a drying aid and to wipe down the door jambs, but it can be used on glass, the engine bay, wheels, exhaust tips, trim...................................

All clean, the old girl swapped places with the Mustang and then covered up for another day.

Those orange Carpro finger mitt applicators are brilliant. I really like them for applying leather conditioner.
I used mine for applying NV Jet on the roof of the FJ, I used the Meguiar's version to apply the Dodo Juice Hybrid Wax on the silver paint, it's slightly smaller so I could only get 3 fingers into it, the Carpro one is definitely better.

Have you looked at Armour Detail Supply Ghost? It's a sealant they claim but it is working well and lasting. I think there's a few users here that can chime in. I apply this quarterly and then can drop any shine products on top in future washes.

Detailing tires now has the sealant base + toppers!

There are a lot of posts on this forum regarding it. Certainly going to add it to the potential candidate list!

This is Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel and the Opti-Coat version, both tend to separate after sitting for a while.

Yes mine started to separate after only a year maybe less. In a basement, cool and dry. It did get slimy after that happened and harder to work into tire it seems, even if you shake the hell out of it first. I'm disappointed in the product overall. Seems to have gone bad very soon for a container as large as it is.

Had the misfortune of choosing the hottest day of the year so far to Decon polish and coat my gti. Did this at my friends house as he has a metal garage he’s willing to let me leave it in while it cures. Down side is no shade for the wash. Wash and decon was a juggling act of not letting things dry. It was supposed to be cloudy but wasn’t.

I used ads decon soap, gtechnic iron remover, and a griots synthetic clay lubed with Koch chemie gsf

The metal garage is basically an oven. Was 90 outside and probably 105 inside. So I’d polish 2 panels and retreat to the ac took me a long timr. Thankfully it started to rain as I was finishing up

Polished with Koch chemie micro cut and a rupes yellow pad on my 5.5 inch and a micro cut pad on my 3 inch,

I also polished the windshield sunroof and rear glas and coated it with griots new glass coating.

The griots was easy no issues with high spots

Then j started on csl. It seemed easy at first but gave me some serious issues on gloss black and my vw logo it looked like sweat beads but they would NOT wipe away. This was after less than a minute. Thankfully most of the paint escaped this. Though I think one area needs to be examined much more closely in the sun.

I think the issue was the humidity it was 90% which was probably not ideal but I only have the space for the weekend.

I got done with csl and got exo applied to the hood and had to call it. Around ‘Midnight and I was going to make mistakes if I kept
Going. Hopefully applying the exo tomorrow won’t yield massively different results
And this is why I want an interior wash bay so badly when I finally bulldoze my existing structure and make a new one. Three car garage with one bay that can be sectioned off with a dividing curtain and completely water proof where it needs to be. Ugh....if only. Sorry you had that struggle. The dwell time mentioned on any product, I've learned, had to have been determined inside a closed structure with no wind or sun whatsoever. Products like Iron-x and most APCs even have it cut it two by simply being outdoors.

Full day today, 74 degrees and getting muggy...that was @5:15 a.m. when I took the TAOS for it's touch-free wash. When I got home I wiped it down with Adam's WW, everything but the roof as it had water spots, this Adam's WW knocked them out, also had to wipedown the tires and wheels, the roof will get addressed next 2BM wash

Next was the EN and get this...NO SAP MIST, OMG I was so happy! I decided to clean the tires & wheels, grabbed Griot's Garage Wheel Cleaner and Gyeon Tire Cleaner, plus my usual brushes...done

Originally I wasn't going to wash it since there was no sap mist but well, you guys know me, I had to do something! That something was a simple foam/dwell/rinse and I used the limited edition Christmas carwash soap from Adam's (a buddy always gives me something from them) I used 2 oz in my Griot's Garage foam gun, let dwell and rinsed. The beading was on point, I then used free flowing water to knock down the beads

For the drying aid this morning I used Dr. Beasley's Paint Hero. Now I used it to try and finish it off because I always forget about it, it never really grabbed me. In addition to that it's kinda pricy, about $28.00 for what I believe is an 8 oz bottle, must be that Chicago city tax (they're also a Chicago based company). I will say the product is thick, so a little does go a looong way, 1 spray into my Gauntlet towel for say 1/2 the hood did the trick but does require a towel flip & buff. Afterwards it's very glossy and smooth, maybe I should reconsider my opinion here and/or try another one of their products

Now I'm done, for now, but after doing the above my t-shirt was soaked with sweat! I took a shower, made breakfast and will head out soon to my daughters ice skating practice where I can chill...that is until I drive about an hour and a half away to do a mini exterior detail on a buddy's classic car to get it ready for consignment. The car you ask, well, it's a Bristol...stay "tuned" for a seperate thread on it later. Oh yeah and btw, did I mention the high temp for today here in Chicagoland...NINETY SIX DEGREES

I 100% guarantee you that you'll love ADS Ghost and on your GT500 it will last an entire season! There's no goofy excessive tire scrubbing and rinsing needed, just clean them real good of old dressings and dirt, maybe mineral spirits if it's not just bare rubber afterwards (if using mineral spirits I'd re-wash the tires to remove that chemical after taste) I should mention too that ADS Tire Cleaner is right there with Adam's tire and wheel cleaner for cleaning your tires, the brown forms almost instantly with ADS Tire Cleaner, once my little bit of other tire cleaner is done I'll be 100% ADS Tire Cleaner

Spent the morning detailing the truck and adding a coat of Gyeon Wax on it since I enjoyed it so much on the Vette!

I find that it darkens the paint a little bit. It doesnt make it pop like others, but it is so easy to use! 20250621_132945.jpg20250621_132923.jpg20250621_124213.jpg20250621_132911.jpg

Applied 303 Graphene Trim Coating to the Qashqai. I couldn't remember what applicator I used last time, luckily it has a distinctive smell, and I can still smell it on the black foam puck. This is so easy to apply compared to some coatings I've used, Black Wow and Mother's CMX Ceramic Trim Restore & Coat come to mind.

No pics because i was lazy and it was damp 12c

Used YUM undressed basically a citrus based cleaner on the tyres that hadn't been cleaned for over a month...I know

Took 3 hit's to come clean would i say a "Game changing product" 🤔

No

Dressing of choice was Angelwax Elixir I'll get some pictures tomorrow as Elixir needs to dry/bond to the surface.

OG Drying Aid is still keeping the car clean but rain and storms to come,
Needs a wash but fitting it in between rain is the question.

This was yesterday

The bugs had to be taken care of so I started by spraying a WW dilution of N-914 to get the bugs soaking before I ever left the garage and hit it a couple more times as I was getting the rest of the gear out and ready. The entire front is PPF and I am still very hesitant to use anything strong like an APC or BH AF if it needs to really soak. While this was soaking I got on the front wheels and by the time I got to the second one the clouds broke and the sun came out so I quit taking pictures and started cleaning.

I used The Final Details Wheel and Tire cleaner and I was quite pleased with the results. One light coating and the tires started browning almost immediately and my medium bristle Mother's brush was all it took to raise a nice lather on the tires and my soft bristle wheel face brush did the same. I foamed the wheels after sorting out the shampoo mix in my cannon (see below) and used my MF wheel woolies and dedicated mitt to get all the nooks and crannies. A good rinse was followed by a spritz with my Megs HCW 3:1 and a final rinse and the wheels were nice and shiny. I used the TFD WTC full strength but next time I am going to try 2:1 water/product in my IK 2 foamer and see how that does

I decided to try the new The Final Details soap/shampoo in the foam cannon and mitt bucket and I will be honest, I was very disappointed. I used their suggested dilutions and got nowhere, then I doubled it, and finally tripled it, and had very little luck with both cannon and bucket. I didn't want to dump what I had because I had both cannon bottles full and 4 gallons in my mitt bucket so I added ADS Shampoo+ to the cannon bottles and Megs Hyperwash to the bucket and got back to work. I did a foam, rinse, foam, contact wash, and a final rinse, and had a surprise...

These are the same streaky traces of whatever the dealer used when they did a non authorized "hand wash" on the car over a month ago. This is after 2 rinseless washes with N-914, 2 bucket washes, and today I even sprayed the door with by BH AF prerinse and worked it in with a plush towel, and nothing has budged it, whatever it is. I am at a loss as to what it is and how to get rid of it without going nuclear. You don't see it after the car is rinsed and dried but when you are blowing the car down the beads of water hit those streaky areas and stick. I don't see that on the roof or the hood, just the doors

#angry

Anyway, I finished the wash, blew the car down with the Ego, and touched up a few places using The Final Details Ceramic Quick Detailer. The FDCQD is super thin and at first it reminded me of that Suds Lab CQD garbage that I tried last summer and poured out; however, this stuff is the real deal. It is slick and works in and flashes quickly and leaves the surface smooth and friction free. I am going to use it as a drying agent on the little blue car after a rinseless and see how it feels on there.

The bugs are gone and the car is clean and I will get some ADS Tire+ on later after the tire drips are done

I am disappointed with the results from The Final Details shampoo but the other 4 products in the order were all solid performers. The soap may not like my water and it wouldn't be the first soap that people raved about that didn't work for me. I am going to try it again in the foam cannon but I will use distilled water and see what happens

Squeezed in one job before heading to Puerto Rico.

Coated this with Gyeon SYNCRO a year ago but about a week after the coating the driver was in a little collision. Finally got around to recoating the damaged portions. This was a sweet sixteen present and by looking at the wheels you can guess what kind of maintenance has been done. Surprisingly the coating is still performing like it was installed yesterday. Went ahead and performed a yearly coating maintenance wash and topped with CanCoat since the father is the one customer that said I’ll bring you all of my cars to coat and actually followed through.

The wife was jealous of my clean car so she asked if I could clean hers. Cleaned up her jeep and topped with Gyeon Cure. It streaks pretty bad so I used it as a drying aide while the jeep was still wet. It helped it stay streak free.

Topped with trim with WETS. Let's see how long that lasts. 20250622_113143.jpg20250622_113045.jpg20250622_113037.jpg20250622_113024.jpg

Chilly, I understand why you might be hesitant to use something strong on that PPF, it isn't cheap but today's PPF's are MUCH better than days of old, I'd say GO FOR IT, I mean you not using it straight anyways

After 2 days of driving some decent distances the EN was run through the touch-free wash on the way home. Once home I got out my Griot's Garage Complete Compound, a cotton applicator and DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss. You see after that rain a couple days ago, combined with the sap mist and sunny, upper 80's/low 90's the water spots w/sap moisture in them made a mess of my B & C pillars, section at the bottom of my rear window and ofcoarse my spoiler. Well, one hand applied application removed ALL of them! I followed it up with DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss to tie it over, for now. For the hell of it I applied some on the mirror caps as well, why not

2 days in a row and ZERO sap, not sure if it's this very hot weather or the sap mist season is over, stay "tuned"

Well I'd like to pass this bit of "above and beyond" customer service to my fellow Geeks.

So I'm on the Armor Detail Supply website seeing if the special lids are available for their new buckets...they aren't. A screen is there to ask questions so I'm like "maybe someone will see it Monday morning and they'll get back to me". Well a couple minutes later they responded with the answer, which was should be up by the end of the week, so I'm like great! They went even further by saying they'd email me a special invoice with them if not on their site by the end of the week, AMAZING....TODAY IS SUNDAY

I also asked for them to add their new APC called CLEAN (wish it was called something else, oh well). Now I told Bradley I've had Optimum Power Clean aka Alien Kleen in my collection since 2012, plus Bilt-Hamber Surfex, so the bar is high and he said he looks forward to my thoughts on Clean

I gave my buddy back home an unopened bottle of ADS Ceramic Spray Sealant and he loves it and actually bought Hero, Adapt and something else from them...I'm sure he'll be hooked now too, THIS is how you grow a brand, grass roots, combined with social media and commercials but at the end of the day the product MUST deliver and it most certainly does
