What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I found you can get Microfiber Wholesale Rags in a Box for a decent price at Amazon (I also have some Rip 'n Rags). They certainly are handy for certain things that paper towels aren't rugged enough for and you don't want to use a towel that you have to clean, and I don't feel bad throwing them in the garbage because mine goes to an incinerator. Not that I have used that many of them.
Walmart sells microfibers on a roll that aren’t bad. I believe it’s $15 for 75 or 100 of them. I use them to clean the floor and windows in my semi truck and I can’t see any lint. I use the grey short pyle ones…

I washed all my MF from Saturday and somehow there was a paper towel or something left in the washing machine from a load the boss did and I didn't see it

I picked out all the biggest chunks and then ran the MF through another short cycle and then 2 cycles in the dryer, one on extra low and one just air to try and capture the rest of the paper towel

😠

The first trip through the dryer the lint screen had a lot of paper but there was none after the second round

It was every mitt and wash pad I own and some plush towels so I am going to go through each and every piece before I put them back in their bins

Lesson learned
Make the boss help you out? Or would she make you disappear

It worked out ok, I actually didn't find any residue in any of the MF I washed

As far as the boss goes, I am here to take care of her, since she worked so hard to take care of the family (not that I didn't, long story)

She is a physical wreck due to her arthritis and I don't expect her to do much of anything

Even better, I'll check into that next time.

I 100% guarantee you that you'll love ADS Ghost and on your GT500 it will last an entire season! There's no goofy excessive tire scrubbing and rinsing needed, just clean them real good of old dressings and dirt, maybe mineral spirits if it's not just bare rubber afterwards (if using mineral spirits I'd re-wash the tires to remove that chemical after taste) I should mention too that ADS Tire Cleaner is right there with Adam's tire and wheel cleaner for cleaning your tires, the brown forms almost instantly with ADS Tire Cleaner, once my little bit of other tire cleaner is done I'll be 100% ADS Tire Cleaner

Thanks buddy! I plan on getting it. I just did a wheels-off cleaning on the 500. Discovered my car already had jacking bars in the process which was a pleasant surprise. That thing is so clean underneath it would be worth keeping up with the chassis too, I need a lift!!!! Ugh!

I washed each wheel with Iron-X and because it was in the garage I got to let it dwell for a good 3-4 minutes. Missed tires with tuff shine and scrubbed a bit of the OPT tire gel off the outside sidewall, scrubbed the oxidized rubber off the inner wall. Those remain untreated. The tires look amazing, but at 9 years old I accept the fact that having like 12/32 tread left doesn't mean much. I don't need a Paul Walker incident at 130mph. Anywho....after the wheels were done, which are definitely coated, I freshened them up with some Jescar spray ceramic sealant. Wiped wheel liners and struts down with ONR at RW dilution ratio, applied a dressing to those(OPT tire gel), and then I RW the entire car. The entire process took 3 days due to heat, toddler, and newborn. But just finished this morning in a comfy 74°F. No car stuff today, the daughter and I need to catch up on outdoor activities today. The heat has been unbearable for 3 days.

Finally got around to washing both my cars. The GTI was coated last weekend, (with a few hiccups) The GLI is due for a polish and coating, but still looks good aside from some water spotting. I used Koch Chemie GSF (Christmas edition which smells like apple pie) for both cars. Cleaned the wheels with Adams wheel and tire cleaner, and used Vonnix graphene tire dressing.

The drying aid was a mixed bag. I had a few almost empty bottles of a few different things. The GLI got a mix of Amplify and bead maker.
The GTI got Dream maker. I also applied some Griots Ceramic glass cleaner to the windshield on the GLI since the adams class coating isnt working as well as when applied. Did the same for the windows on the GTI which haven't been coated.

Differnt area entirely, but I got some rags to riches and have been trying to rehabilitate my drying towels which were soaked with drying aid. Seems to work rather well. I also tried fixing my griots crinkle glass towels. They have beenn leaving smears behind, but no luck there even after soaking. I think it might just the towel design (or some user error) The FTW style towels seem to work way better for me. I picked up another set in orange.

Now im debating buying ADS ghost for the tires, and an IK foamer for my wheel and tire cleaner. I am definitely ordering some bug remover since the bugs are out in force her in VA.

So the sap/rain/sun bake was in effect again, this time not as bad and/or just 1 day, but this time I went another route for products and I think it helped

RW products
-----------

-Labocosmetica Preludio alkaline pre-wash

-Carbon Collective RW

-ADS Villain RW sponge

Because there was staining on every panel to some effect and the glass as well, the Labocosmetica Preludio alkaline pre-wash was sprayed a panel at a time, allowed to dwell and then I sprayed the Carbon Collective RW ontop of that and went over it with the Villain...KNOCKED IT ALL OUT

I did the tires/wheels/wells and engine bay with the leftover Carbon Collective RW...EASY

The Qashqai went in for a service yesterday, it came back very dusty, and with fingerprints in weird places, so I gave it a wash. Wheels were cleaned with Bowden's Wheely Clean first, then went 2B with Reset, decided to try out Reset in my basic hose foam sprayer, it ain't no cannon. I tried it out with Mother's California Gold last time, which I won't do again, but Reset foamed up okay, but it doesn't like spraying into the wind PSX_20250626_170058.jpg

Then went with the 2B wash while it was still foamed up. Moved it back inside to dry it, no drying aid, I was trying out one of my new twisted loop drying towels, which worked great, but I had sheeted as much of the water off as possible before moving it back in.

It was so easy to do the Qashqai I thought I'd get the FJ done as well. Straight rinse and 2B with Reset, no foaming. Given it was recently waxed this was very easy, the sun was getting low so just dried it outside, I used one of my new TRC Liquid8r towels, which was very good, but I'll need both to dry the whole FJ, I finished the roof with my old favourite synthetic chamois, I know, but the paint on the roof is very robust. I didn't clean the wheels, just rinsed them. I'm going to avoid putting any heavy chemicals on them for a bit.

Awesome window reflection shot!

Speaking of which, my Uber flex 3/8 hose came in and it has 2 threaded male ends. Does anyone know what the 2 female ends I need are? I believe it would be a 3/8 inlet to a 1/4 quick connect end. Kind of defeats the purpose of the 3/8’s though.

Ever use the Adam's Citrus Degreaser? I bought it last year with the foaming tips but it seems similar to the ADS Clean. Very robust in use and safe. Curious on your thoughts once you use it.

I'm still pretty full on Citrus Degreaser. Trying to let my vehicle get dirtier so I feel like it's used properly.
