What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Routine touch-free wash this morning before work!

I made it up based on you talking about it and YES, it's VERY stout, worked like a dream, especially with my Liquid8R towel The ratio I actually used was 3.5 of Idrosave and 1 gallon of distilled water. I've gotta say, Labocosmetica is an amazing detailing product company, stuff that NOONE else has

I just saw that Carbon Collective is on sale for 20% at D-D and started looking at their RW. I know you (Klasse) like it but then the "what to do with my gallons of other rinseless" thought crept into my head.

For Idrosave, why might it NOT work as a shampoo with protection using a foam cannon? In my head it's logical but that's a party of 1.

I'm thinking pre-wash first with dedicated pre-wash, foam Idrosave and bucket wash? Is this documented or tried anywhere? Anyone?

Disclaimer: not a scientist, just a guy with too much RW.

Buy the 16 oz bottle of Carbon Collective, that's what I did and honestly, for a PURE cleaner RW its between Carbon Collective & Feynlab v3 RW and that's it, there's NO need to look elsewhere

Idrosave...I LOVE IT and I think it's going to be purchased as a gallon because of ALL it does

I just cleaned my tires & wheels, used both ADS products, Wheel Cleaner & Tire Cleaner but before that though, it's used both GooGone & GoofOff. I'm trying to strip these new tires down but impatient me just had to try and coat them, even after a good scrub, that "sh!t" applied to the tires apparently didn't come off

I then used my IK Foam Pro 12 with a gallon of water mixed with 1 oz of Labocosmetica Semper and 1 oz of Adam's graphene carwash soap. A simple foam/dwell/rinse was all needed, surprisingly I saw some tree debris/bird bomb get melted off, yes it was washed this morning...I enjoy the process and have lots of "weapons"

I used Labocosmetica Idrosave mixed as a QD as a drying aid, just awesome! I also did a quick interior vac and sprayed Griot's Garage Stinky Be Gone Light Em Up to finish things off

Any suggestions to strip those tires down to pure rubber...Terminator? I'm all ears guys, impatient as I want these tires looking their VERY best sooner than later

Stoner's Tarminator or mineral spirits will strip tyres right down to a bare finish. Both are considered solvents and I've use both depending on the situation. However, I much prefer Tarminator for a couple of key reasons -

- With mineral spirits, you will need to buy a spray bottle of some kind, otherwise it becomes messy/cumbersome trying to dose it out of the bottle. Tarminator is an aerosol.

- I've found Tarminator has a slight performance edge here, especially with how it flashes away so nicely.

- For whatever reason, Tarminator has some sort of oil within its makeup that prevents excessively drying out the rubber like mineral spirits can.

- That oil also seems to condition and prime the tyre for the dressing, helping it to bond to the rubber better.

Application Method -

1. To begin, just clean the tyres as you normally would with your most potent tyre cleaner, something like ADS, Wise Guy, Adam's, or Carpro ReTyre.

2. Once you have finished washing the rest of the car, ideally dry off the tyre with a towel or a blower.

3. Taking an old towel, spray Tarminator or mineral spirits into the towel. You will destroy this towel, so choose wisely. Never apply directly to the tyre, especially if you have matte finish wheels as it can potentially stain the finish.

4. Begin rubbing the sidewall with the towel using medium to heavy pressure, reapplying more to the towel as needed. As the product flashes away, you end up with this lovely bare, matte finish.

I think you will be surprised how much funk you will remove using this process, even from seemingly clean tyres.

Important to note this NOT a regular thing, rather an occasional reset. Having said that, I've been doing this for years with no ill affect, which is spread across Dunlop, Michelin, Bridgestone and Pirelli tyres.

And if you are planning to apply ADS Ghost, this is there recommendation regarding prep -

1. To achieve optimal results with GHOST, ensure that your tires are thoroughly cleaned with our tire cleaner. Continue to clean and brush until all brown residue is removed. This may require multiple rounds.

2. If existing tire dressings remain, scrub the tire with a tar/adhesive remover to fully remove.

It's one of those if-you-know-you-know tricks.

I've also found Tarminator is great for removing carbon stains from chrome exhaust tips, in particular when normal cleaning or polishing doesn't get the job done.

Did a rinseless wash with Duragloss 932. Had a small amount of TW slick and slide already mixed up so used that to wash tires and wheels.
Dressed tires with Aqua Gloss and used my hybrid Optimum drying aid on the wheels.

After a week of working on this car off and on it’s finished.

Heavy defect removal with Griot’s FCC and LC microfiber pads.
Finishing polish with LC orange HDO pads with CCS and Sonax Perfect Finish
Gyeon Mohs for the paint protection

I must say that the finish came out much better than I expected.

How it started

How it ended. She’s ready to return to the car shows.

I’m not a car guy but I’ll be damned if this thing ain’t sexy.

Oh man, Optimus...that garage again! How many bays is that? I can see it's at least 4.

That Camaro has the battery in the trunk? At least get the owner to put a towel on the bumper to protect the paint you just polished.

4 cars is correct.

4 is correct. There was a a 69 Camara parked where the Lexus is until last night.

All his cars had car covers and I’m sure that all of the first getting trapped under there has contributed to all of them needing work. On the far right is an 89 Camaro with the original paint that’s not as bad as this Z28 and I’ll be working on that in the coming weeks.

Sorry for the engine cover pic but a Hyundai Perf Blue N overlay has been added to engine cover courtesy of Xtreme Graffics in Lombard Illinois

He also made a piece to go over the speaker cover where it said ELANTRA, it was engraved, very nicely but the problem is those carpeted pieces say AVANTE, what the car is called in it's home country of S. Korea, so too much naming going on there, so he took care of that for me as well

Not pictured was a couple "fixes" I needed done, one was the red piece on the N flag in the front grill, the original piece was washed away, I wonder how that happened ...the other fix was the black on the flag that's on the p/s floor mat, it was peeling a bit, all fixed now

It was $60.00 to fix/modify all this, plus I got to visit my buddy Steve, good times

That model Camaro was based on the Holden Zeta platform. As such, all cars on the Zeta platform had the battery mounted in the trunk, so that's Commodore and Statesman/Caprice in Australia, and the Pontiac G8, Chevy PPV (which was a Caprice in police spec), and the Chevy SS in the USA.

Cleaned up the interior on mum's Amarok as they went to Longford on Thursday, 4 deep in the car.

Floor mats x4 out scrubbed set out to air dry, full vacuuming door cards etc, and tickle with a soft Maxshine detailing brush for the nooks.

Windows cleaned because of doggie snot.

(No exterior cleaning until the pine trees stop dropping pollen 😤)

Funny thing, I had a VE II wagon, and I can't remember ever checking out where the battery was. I had it for only 3 years before I got my FJ. I never had to replace it so never thought about where it was.

Worked in the heat and sun. Not ideal. After a fender flare replacement from the dealer Monday, Saturday did a good interior and exterior wash. Finished with wet wax as the drying aid. Fender wells got Black magic fender well protection. Later that evening, cooler and sun going down, quick coat of TWHS black wax. And tonneau cover got Wolfstiens protection.
