What did you do today non-detailing related?

Mowed the lawn with the freshly sharpened blades.

Ah, you got me, the number of times I've walked past it and thought, I'll pull that thing out on my way back past it, and then forget. I promise I'll do it today.

With photo evidence as well I hope!

Catching up on work today after being rained out two weeks in a row.

Last job of the day was one I didn't want to do. I got this small job next to my number 1 customer last year, as such I thought it would be a convenient add to my run. Except she only contacts me when the grass is more than ankle deep and I don't make any money out of it. You can see where I mow regularly on a diagonal in this pic.

That pic is after smashing the edges back into shape and slashing down any taller growth to help the mower out a bit. It's a rare occasion where I run the brush-cutter at wide open throttle for extended periods. Most of my work is regular services, so I'm really only maintaining an edge rather than beating it into submission. This is the only occasion where I would want a little extra grunt from the machine, it's lightness wins overall though.

I would normally do this job with a two-stroke Victa, I just did not have the time or space on the ute for a second machine today. The Bushranger went better than I thought. Using the brush-cutter to smash down the taller stuff helped. The nature strip I had to double cut, as in cut on the highest setting then adjust down to the desired height.

With Winter now well and truly in full swing, cuts are now out to 3-4 weeks so I will hopefully have a lighter workload next week.

I had to go back yesterday next door to smash down the grass because they only call me when it's ankle deep. I feel your pain and i only charge $25 but i use their ride on but dad's whipper snipper.

My minimum charge is $30 for small or simple lawn, say about the size of a basic nature strip. I was bartered down from that! (Without wanting to sound racist, I will let you guess the nationality, they are all the same). I agreed because it's only a small space to mow and that it's next door to my favorite client. I did not anticipate it being knee deep every time I was called.

I'm too polite for my own good sometimes so I just keep doing it. This is a low socioeconomic block of units so I get that money is tight, but I have costs to cover as well.

With petrol prices so high, you should use that as justification for a price rise, but let your good customers know it doesn't apply to them, good marketing to make them feel looked after.

Yeah i'm hearing you mate, it must to tough somtimes with prices but i do the neighbours lawn to be a good neighbour but i too have limits.

We had a 15°c day here with no wind or a cloud (rare) and i washed her 2011 Xtrail that hasn't had a wash since last spring i didn't charged because i broke the belt on the ride on so i called it square. But cleaning their car's have gone up due to detailing products but Trust me they are still getting it good because i'm to nice and that's when people can take advantage of the situation.

Fuel is a big consideration on this job. Because the client lets it grow tall, I have to work the machines harder which means they use more fuel. I often need to use a lawn edger in addition to the brush-cutter, a thirsty two-stroke mower and a blower for clean up.

Engine swapped my Mustang.
Pulled the stock rebuilt engine I put in last summer to put in the modified engine (rebuilt) back in.
Hope to fire it up tomorrow.

Follow up to my previous post (no new pictures), everything all put back together on Sunday.
Started up and took it for a handful of break-in miles. I have short idle video, but cannot post here.

Ran well, but I can tell the tune needs some adjustments.
After the short drive, I changed the oil, cleaned up the garage and went inside completely worn out after the long weekend.
Turns out I had/have "The VID". I just thought I was tired from the hours of work. Back to feeling normal today, hopefully I can get out and put a few miles on it this afternoon.

Stocking up my wrench drawers.

Here I go down the rabbit hole again… except only spending 20% of what my
Snap-On’s were.

Why do you have hammers in the middle of your wrench drawer? :poke:

My heart goes out to ya man, can't imagine replenishing a past tool collection. Not as simple as just buying a DIY starter set when you had a curated collection developed over years.

Heck, just a quick look at my work box I've got 13 different 13mm sockets, 11 different 13mm wrenches. And that's just one size as an example...

Quick project.

I saw this 4 drawer stackable dresser on Facebook marketplace for $25

I thought it could look pretty cool

Grabbed 2 cans of spray paint and started breaking it down.

Taped and sanded a bit.

Then painted.

Pretty happy with how this project came out for under $35

Installed my new fog light globes, ordered from the UK, I couldn't find anything like it here in Australia. For me, fog lights should be yellow, anything else is just wrong. It looks more yellow in person, the phone camera seems to adjust things.
