Delivered a car to Massachusetts today.
On the approach to Groton/New London, CT. there was this US Navy nuclear sub returning to base. (Along with its heavily-armed escorts).

I wonder how long it would take all of us working together to polish and ceramic coat that monster?

I would think we'd never find out.

Those M-50's on the escorts would turn us into finely-chopped fish food before we got too close........ ;)

What a cool experience to see.

Reminds me of when the Space Shuttle was being retired and it flew into LAX. I took a motorcycle ride down there, about 45 minutes from my place, to see it... It made a couple fly-by's before landing and I was able to get photos of each from different vantage points.

Cars & coffee this morning until it started to rain, then everyone bolted. Did pickup some Griot's heavy duty wheel cleaner to try out.

My 2 dirt cheap engines torn down.
Engine 1, green one is OK. 2 bolts stuck in block.
Original parts, but crank has been machined.

Engine 2 is also OK. Just 1 bolt stuck in block. This was all original (OE bearings). One bolt was seized in the timing cover. About 2 hours to get it to turn and unscrew from the block, but it's still stuck in the timing cover. I can turn the bolt with some vice grips, but it's not coming out yet. I keep adding penetrating oil each day and will work it out eventually.

One will be full garage rebuild for learning and short term usage and the other will be properly machined at a shop.

More progress last weekend.
Pistons/rods cleaned of carbon buildup.
Hopefully this weekend I can either hone cylinders or polish the crank (or both.....haha).

Does house detailing count?

Cleaning all the rails and glass panels on the lanai

They are developing a lot across the way and the wind is constantly carrying red dirt over here

If you let it get wet and sit for any length of time it stains EVERYTHING

Constant battle

I’m scared to go up and check the solar panels

Did some ricer-ish plastidip and 12v work on the two Hondas.

Daughter's car for a new head unit with Bluetooth capability, nice mic for the phone, Apple carplay and android auto along with a super crisp backup camera that was able to be located in the OEM location pretty easily.

The Accord got a splash of red under the hood.

Dug through my phone and couldn't find any pictures. I'll try to remember to grab some later this summer.

It reminds me a lot of the patterns you get with spirographs if you ever played with those.

Going way back here, but finally got a picture of the yard after a few weeks of mowing crop circles -

Never mind the dog spots - it’s been a busy summer, and has felt a little weird chasing a thick full lawn when drought conditions are so widespread. Just raising the mower up a notch has done wonders compared to the neighbors, even without ratcheting up how much I water in comparison to others.

Also disregard the paint condition on the deck - the deck’s getting replaced next spring!

Replaced the palmrest assembly on my Dell XPS 13 yesterday. It's what everything else attaches to so it all had to be removed to replace it. One side of the hinge and one of the screws holding the case together were no longer attached. Stripped 2 screws getting it disassembled so I had to use a screw extractor to get them out. I need to order replacements but it's back together and no longer being a pain to open and close.

Did a little touch-up job to my daughter's Kia Soul. Someone hit and gouged the front bumper cover a month or so ago... No idea who or even where.

Start to finish took about an hour. Perfection was not even a consideration. This was simply a "make it disappear at 10 feet" repair. In fact, the paint I used wasn't even color code specific... It was a spray can of Rustoleum Gloss White Fast Drying High Performance Enamel that I had on the shelf. Sprayed it into the cap and applied with a brush. Color match was actually pretty close.

Far from perfect, but my daughter is happy.

Process:
- Trimmed away the raised material with a single edge razor
- Compounded the repair and surrounding area w M105
- Cleaned repair area with Isopropyl Alcohol
- Filled the gouges with JB Weld Quick
- Trimmed and leveled the JB Weld with a single edge razor and swab dampened with acetone
- Applied the touch-up paint

That is awesome. :props:

Photos can be deceiving...

Many times they don't do justice to something really nice.

And on the flip side, and more commonly, they can make mediocrity look flawless.

Believe me, if you could see this in person it's pretty obvious. Like I said, the objective was to eliminate the eye-sore when viewed from a distance.

Stop arguing with me, dammit. I said I can't SEE it!:laughing:

But yeah, I get exactly what you mean. And, you said your daughter is happy. That's job well done right there.
