What did you do today non-detailing related?

Definitely works. Now if they're yellowjackets, leave that to a pro. Had an issue with those buggers last summer the day before leaving for a vacation where a house sitter was going to be at my place. Thankfully I didn't get raked over the coals for a short notice service call.

My father and sister and I walked into the woods one day when we were just kids because I had found quartz rocks and wanted to find more. The thought is that my sister somehow disrupted an underground yellowjacket nest.

All of a sudden this...stuff...started happening to us. I remember screaming and yelling. I remember walking up the street and seeing a yellowjacket fly out of my shorts.

52 stings.

When you talk about a burning, psychotic hatred for something, I have exactly that with bees.

My son was lifting an old rotted railroad tie out of a retaining wall at our house in Akaska and disturbed an underground nest and yeah, bad stuff happened fast

In almost 30 years in Alaska I had never seen or heard of underground yellowjackets

Oddly enough there was a news article in the Anchorage Daily News around the same time talking about how hornets and wasps and the like were suddenly a thing in the area

I guess it is just one more example of species are on the move due to weather changes

Still cleaning up the mess from the 10x 30m pine trees cut down
Just me and the old man so he cuts i clean pick up drop off repeat.

Now only 30 more trees to do.....:(

First day back to the course, thought I would polish the shoes with TWATS...heee...heeeee...he said TWATS

Recent updated the interior of my daily driver Honda Accord with a few tid-bits that I like.

Center Consoles are nice and this one is HUGE so now the trays allow for 3 levels of crap to be held. The rubber liners are nice too. The Accord branded one came with the tray, the other came a set that matches the rest of the interior and keeps things from rattling in the doors or cup holders, etc.

The factory/stock knobs were nice but these "covers" simply slide on a tick of adhesive (they are tight though) and add a bit of tactile feel. Most importantly they dress up all 5 knobs so the two on the infotainment now match the rest. :) Yeah, I'm OCD like that.

The paddle shifters I've had since last fall but they too are really nice. Though I will admit the 10spd is so dang good, I rarely ever need to use manual mode. This thing is always in the right gear and power hasn't been an issue at all.

Made a couple of other updates to the Trunk Area of the Accord several weeks back. IMO, it's the little details that matter and given my previous rides were nicer, they all had these features from the factory, so I wanted to bring back a few nice touches to it.

First up was the hinge covers. Sounds silly but they do dress up the interior nicely and don't take up much if any usable room. Honda put some material on the deck lid but they cut corners with the hinges. Problem solved.

The other item was take directly from my previous Mercedes AMG and the Audi S4 and that is the trunk hooks. I looked under the decklid of the Honda and saw zero reason why they didn't include nice retractable flush mount holders. The OEM ones they offer work but stick down and do not fold up like these. 10-minute install and bam!

Nice touches to the accord!

Today I went to the driving range. Can’t wait to be on a course in 80° weather. Gotta schedule a driver fitting, time for an upgrade and my first new club in 9 years.

Been out working in the woodshop... A couple terrariums for my daughter.

This first one I finished in Feb. It's now home to a bearded dragon.

This next one is complete except for the glass features which I'm waiting for. Hopefully I'll receive them sometime next week. I think this will be home to some kind of crabs. The entire lower half of this one will be lined with plexiglass to hold about 6 inches of wet dirt. Hence the 1/2 door on the front.

No pictures, but I lapped the valves on my heads today. I plan to drop the heads off this week to get resurfaced and cleaned so I figured I'd get the lapping done so all the compound is cleaned off.

Weather is starting to warm up, so I'm getting antsy/excited about assembling the engine for my Foxbody even though it's still in storage 150 miles away.

The AC/Solar guy finally got the line flushing kit for my new AC unit

F()$&@“?! Hazmat stuffs

Anyway we got the lines flushed and hooked up and got the system evacuated and charged and we once again have AC

Just in time to go back to Alaska

lol

Oh well, at least we know when we get back the house will be comfortable
