What did you do today non-detailing related?

I added a few more to my collection. Sometime this year I should pass 2500.

Yeah that's my first non rally Audi Quattro, and a good casting of it too. The Jeep in the back is my first J10 also. The other first (for me) in this group is one of America's most hated vehicles, can you guess which one.

Yeah the Tesla but America loves them, they're all over the place but then again I live in the 3rd largest city in the U.S.

Ha ha, nope, I've already got a bunch of Teslas, that is my third Model S. The one you're after is in the back row, second from the left, it is a custom though, makes it actually look ok.

It's been 5 months/2500 miles, time for an oil change on the EN. Going with 0w30 Mobil 1 & WIX filter. I could've gone a little longer but it's cheap insurance[emoji56

Holy cow, really? What's the manual say, 3750/7500? I always go with the severe service (lower) one, but 2500...that's low. BTW, when my friends would ask why I use synthetic oil and then change it at the "severe" interval, I would say "It's cheap insurance". That was back before anybody was doing factory fills with synthetic where they were mandated, so back then people generally used synthetics to extend the drain interval. Ok I'll stop babbling now.

It’s hard to tell it’s an Aztec but once I looked hard I could see it ;)

Well, I still can't see it--but if that's an Aztek, that was truly one of the ugliest cars GM ever made, and I say that as a GM guy. I used to call it "the rhinoceros". The runner-up would be the mid-90's Skylark coupe, although restrospectively it doesn't look that bad, I was just looking at a picture.

When I saw the preview for this post, for some reason my first thought was that you were literally painting an entire live bison

They told me not to pet the fluffy cow, didn’t say anything about not spray painting it.

Perhaps if they'd originally made it with fat tyres and flared guards it would have been more popular. No doubt every car company has something in their history they would like everyone to forget.

The Aztec now has a cult following, I'd take one over a Nissan Cross Cabriolet 🫣

I had to look that one up, we had the Murano over here, but never the cabriolet. I guess Nissan envisioned a certain demographic for it, can't imagine what it was though.

I may not be remembering right (if not Klasse will correct me), but wasn't the Aztek built on the GM minivan platform, creating one of the earlier crossover SUV's? Before SUV's became the hot thing they were all built on truck chassis' back in the body-on-frame days.

I see your Juke, and raise you the Stavic from SsangYong (Korea).

The was a Autoliine After Hours that had Bob Lutz as a guest. Much was spoken about the Aztek and the path it took to the production line. To shorten a long story, the Aztek was what is called a "committee car", one that was ruled by too many competing committees within the company. The result was a product as confused as the people who created it.

I once authored a series on the ugliest cars in the world, that hideous Murano was front and center along with several others.

I could at this point post a number of images showing various US designed vehicles (sorry US residents), but I would rather present a vehicle from a car company who should never have done this vehicle in the first place..........................

The 5-Series GT, along with the X6, are where BMW went wrong in my opinion. Neither vehicle had a reason for being, and the 5 GT was the most contentious due to that horrible rear end styling. But then you need to consider the utter pointlessness of the 5 GT, it was no more practical than a 5 Series Wagon, let alone an X5. So, what you got was an ugly, misshapen mashup of a 5 Series Sedan and Wagon. It served no purpose. Of course, many such pointless models have been spored by BMW, some ugly (2 Series GT, X4) some contradictory (4-Series GC).
