I took the plunge into "real detailing" and started on my Toyota Tundra. It's a large vehicle and I'm a newbie so I knew it would take some time. I worked almost all day Saturday and Sunday but didn't get done. I could write a lot about the lessons I learned, but here's what I did:
First I spent a ton of time getting water spots off the windows with steel wool and zymol AIO. I washed and clayed the entire vehicle then starting polishing with a 7424XP with Megs 105 and 205 with Lake Country orange and blue hybrid pads. After polishing the front 2/3s of the vehicle it was obvious I was never going to finish it all so I sealed the part I had polished with Four Star UPP.
I had to go out of town for ten days so the back 1/3 of the vehicle hasn't been touched since the claying step. It's been in the garage the whole time and hasn't been driven.
So...what do I need to do before I finish the box? Wash? Wipe down with a QD?
