Hows it going AG? I have a serious ? and am really looking forward to different feedback...

First off, Ive been washing and detailing vehicles for a few years now with satisfying results. Up until late last season, the majority of my clients were first timers and those who only wanted to see you once a month. Well, recently I branched off into a part of town where not only the $$$ is, but these clients are looking for FULL VEHICLE MAINTENANCE(year round). And I tell Ya, "Business isa Booming"!!!

So my question is, what steps are you guys taken as PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE and UP-KEEP of Your contract vehicles???
Feed back please

Thanks in advance for any and all replies....

The basics would be a good starting point, especially if the cars are daily drivers. The upscale daily drivers might be BMW's, Lexus, Cadillac, etc., but if they're daily drivers then what your customer's are going to want is for their cars to look new or freshly detailed all the time... thus the regular visit by you on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, maybe even weekly.

Wash or wipe clean using waterless wash or rinseless wash

Clay if needed, always feel the paint after washing and drying, chances are good that with regular maintenance you won't need to clay but just in case the owner parks the vehicle somewhere that has air-borne contaminants you often can't see them but you can feel them, so do a quick feel of the horizontal surfaces after getting the vehicles clean and dry

Maintenance wax - Could be a finishing wax if the cars are garage kept or something with just a little cleaning action.

Vacuum

Clean Glass

Dressing on major dress-able areas, seats, arm rests, console, dash

Clean gauges and dash components, knobs, buttons, vents, etc.

Shifter boot area if it's a floor shift model

Door jambs - if you use a cleaner/wax the first time you detail the car then after this you can probably get away with a spray detailer or spray wax.

Door sills, look for and remove shoe scuffs

Dress tires, make sure wheels are clean and shiny

The first time you detail a vehicle will take you the longest as you'll likely have to spend more time to bring it back up to your level of expectations for the type of work you do and for what your customer expects.

After that it should go a lot faster, especially the more often you detail the car.

Some kind of scent unless they request you don't use something. For cars with leather interiors, some people might prefer refreshed leather scent as that's what they like about their leather interior or because in their mind that tells them you treated their leather interior.

I'm sure others will chime in...

:)

Man, that's the exact information I was looking for, thanks Mike.

In the same sense, if two months from now one of these vehicles needs to be clayed and waxed, would it be best for me to just charge accordingly at that time or would it be best to just charge a monthly fee with anticipation of these up-keep procedures in mind?

What do y'all suggest?

And thanks Audilover, I am a senior member now, I just noticed my man. Awesome!!!

You said "thanks mike" and for a few seconds i'm like how the hell does this guy know my real name. lol. i guess there are a few of us mike's around.

I've really got to get on this waterless wash process. I literally might have lost four regular clients due to my set-up and their location. Local Dr. Office with lots of surrounding business and You know, "THAT GUY", just had to come over and complain about the noise if my PW...

I totally respect his opinion, it's just "funny" to me because his business just happens to be a local distributor of PW's and water tanks, which just happens to be where I purchased my tank from 3 years ago... And on top of that his building is on the far side of the complex. HATERS....

Well hello, and thanks to you also, Mike!!! Lol

Alright, sorry AG. Just had to share my frustration with somebody, even if y'all aren't listening.

On to the solution I go.... Waterless wash let's get it ...

hey all n 1. i use to think ONR was the greatest thing since sliced bread and this week i tried waterless washing. all i can say is wow. have you even tried Opti-no rinse yet? power washers are a thing of the past...there i said it.

The best part of rental cars, company cars, and contract cars is the ability to test new products on them without worry or issue. Infact I often get free upgrades from Enterprise because the cars always come back cleaner then they left. Now if only they waived the fuel charges !

Wow, "a thing of the past" huh? Serious statement my man. But hey, if that's the case, That's The Case! One thing I can honestly say is I'm always open to trying new things/ techniques. If you think that highly if the product, I'll definitely give it a try.
