What do you use to *clean* interior panels?

I currently use optimum power clean diluted at 3:1, but I'm wondering if I should get an interior specific cleaner like DP or 1Z? Would that be better?

1Z is nice, but any APC cut will do for cleaning. I use a white cotton towel to see if there is any grime left. Then I wipe again with another white cotton towel with just plain water to get any residue off before applying a dressing.

Hey Mark,

I use Meguiar's APC+ reduced 6:1 and for cleaning it does a great gob. Buying it by the gallon and reducing it for specific applications makes all the sense in the world to me.

You're right Ron, no need for me to spend more money on a seperate cleaner. Power Clean cut a 3:1 works just fine. I like your idea of wiping with plain water after to remove any residue before applying a dressing, I do the same thing. :props:

:iagree: Bobby

As I stated in the post above, no need to waste more money. I get these wild thoughts sometimes. LOL

You can always dilute Optimum more.

At 3:1, it is overkill for an interior in nice condition. You only need as much as it needs to clean. ONR can be used as an interior cleaner.

+1 for clean water after APC.

I do the same

AHHH! What are those shrubs doing touching your Sky's rear?! LOL. If your gonna take an Avatar pic "in the sticks" you gotta go high in the mountains to a private lake... like me :D

Edit: LOL that ones better :xyxthumbs:

APC+ 10:1 in my Tornador for most cleaning, the 1z Cockpit Premium for the sensitive areas like the radio or any LCD screens.

LMAO!!! I put that pic in for a minute there and then decided to change it. That was actually a very embarrasing story. Heres the short version. I had my car perfect after a lot of work. But my shoes and socks were soaked and dirty. I didn't have a bag with me like usual to put my feet in for moving the car. So knowing it was a stupic idea.... I reached into the car and released the emergency brake thinking I would let it roll a bit and then pull it back up.... I thought I'd run around to the rear and control it. Duh, or get run over... Anyway, the driveway is not steep at all at the point where I released the brake. So I quickly ran to the rear and as I was doing that I already realized it was rolling faster then I wanted and I was in trouble. Then my foot hit the landscaping rocks and I relaized I hadn't had the wheel straight. Ok, now its big trouble! Like the roadrunner in about 1 step I was halfway into the car whipping the emergency brake back on. Another 4 inches and I think there would have been some serious scratches. As it was I came out veeery lucky. So, the moral of the story. Don't be completely and utterly stupid!

Edit: well now that you saw the pic and made me tell the story I my as well give you the pics. This happened months ago and I have been too ashamed to tell the story till now.

Man, I got lucky! I thought there was going to be scratches all up and down the side.

LMAO too! Best part is that you stopped to take pics, :applause:

I've done a couple similar boneheaded things to my car, neither of which ended so well.
1- didn't pull far enough into the garage, the handle scraped my rear bumper deep into the plastic.
2- Backed out of a down hill driveway (that I had pulled out of 100's of times) too fast and severely damaged my front bumper on the curb.

You made out nicely on that one.

I was just going by what optimum recommended.

Thanks for the tip. :xyxthumbs:

Though I do like an APC for getting tough, grimy dirt, I always feel like the APC is "bad" hence the clean water to clean up afterward.

DP Total Interior Cleaner cleans plastic, vinyl, leather, carpet, and upholstery without harsh solvents or caustic chemicals. on the other hand, definitely does not have the same strong cleaning power, but it is much more gentile. Being free of solvents and using surfactants instead, it is much safer for use on surfaces like coated leather and vinyl. It won't (in my experience so far) discolor or change any interior surface as APC has done. I highly recommend DP TIC for regular daily use, for heavy cleaning grab something stronger. My $0.02 :dblthumb2:

I use DP interior cleaner. Like I said I still wipe with water before I dress or seal. Probably not needed though. I'm going to try 1Z at some point. Look forward to using that on dirtier surfaces.
Mark, Don't you have the 1Z plastic cleaner? Have you tried it?
