What do you wear when you detail?

Oh and got a new pop up tent and generator. Sure it's small, but it fits in my car and powers my DA just fine. (Only one DA at a time)

and I fit everything in my car :D

^ I only did the corner bumper btw. Although, I still did a waterless wash on the rest of the bumper and and truck. Just so it wouldn't show one side of the bumper clean and the other side all dirty.

Nothing really touches the floor anymore and if it does, it gets wiped down and put in a bag for storage. Got that tip from Kyle.
 
After I get done with the tool I spray the towel with Meguiar's D120 and wipe it down, from the very beginning of the machine to the end of the extension chord. (Got that tip from allenk4 - Kyle Allen as well)

my machines don't touch the floor anymore, Kyle explained it very well to me. So thank Kyle :props:

As stated t-shirt, cotton shorts or my worn out sweatpants ( wife wants to through them out ) No rings. I have not worn one because of working on aircraft and now that I am retired still do not.

Duck shoes or my crocs and of course a smile because I do enjoying detailing my toys....
 
Summer, shorts, cotton shirt or some type of lighter dry-weave, but if I am doing any correction work, I have on my Rupes Apron.

Fall and Winter, Carhart pants, Wolverine work boots and a soft Adidas hoodie, maybe a beanie....OH and the apron.

I have found also that the work boots really help in overall fatigue, since they give me a solid base and ankle support.

I typically wear sweat pants or athletic pants and my under armour business shirts or some type of wicking material shirt.
 
UA sweats and t-shirt when its chilly, UA shorts and t-shirt when its warm. I use the pockets though, holds and 8 oz bottle cap side down for buffer work.
 
Art! Nice posts! I bet it is hard to keep a professional look AND be efficient and comfortable detailing... I know after I'm done with a car I look like something the cat threw up :laughing:

I was wondering what guys wore since I always see your shorts with a lot of snaps, buttons, etc. And sweats, if they are really baggy, just get in my way.

I'm with Mr. Hernandez on this. A big part of marketing is how your customer perceives you. When you fly somewhere, you get to the counter and see nattily-dressed agents and think, "Professional. Courteous. Restpectable." You get to the gate and see more agents dressed well and think the same. As you settle into your seat and look out the window you see the ramp workers tossing bags, and they are dressed like thugs/hoods/gangbangers and think, "I'm not flying with this airline again."

When I meet with a paying customer, even if it's a friend or work colleague, I try to look professional. Clean work pants, clean tee shirt or sweater (with no slogans or logos on either) and clean windbreaker or soft shelled jacket if it's nipply. I keep my hands and nails clean. It's OCD but I always clean my glasses before the meeting if I'm not wearing contacts. If I feel good about the way I present myself, I know my customer will have more reason to trust me.

All that said, when I'm working on a car in my own garage, I wear what's comfortable: today I'm in a hoodie and yoga pants as it's 50° outside. I wear sneakers or outdoor shoes. I'm not a fan of crocs because they make my feet sweat, but they make extremely comfortable shoes for professionals as well, targeting the food preparation, medical and aviation industries. I prefer something more "barefoot", like Sanüks.
 
I would definitely present myself professionally if this were my business... I think I'd get embroidered polos when meeting with clients as well. They look so classy.

Instead I get friends begging me to do their cars. Most of the time I turn them down. This is one of those rare times I didn't.

Since this isn't a business for me, I wear comfortable. Under Armour heat guard shirts, Under Armour shorts and an Under Armour skull cap since I have a shaved head(gotten sunburnt way too often)
 
I wear sweat pants with gym under. I'll put some things in the gym shorts pockets and others in the sweatpants. I really never wear pants with a button that could scratch something when I'm doing a car, but when I do I have a microfiber towel in the front of my waistband to cover it up.
