What does 56k mean?

:whs::iagree:

Those rooms use to have to be super cooled also for fear of a unit going down. I remember no cell phones either, and pagers, my how the world has changed for the worse :D

The rooms were 2 or 3 stories high. And a "bug" in the computer was just that, literally. The first computer "bug" was a preying mantis that got fried in the wiring!:D

Remember when you used to put your first issue Mickey Mantle or
Bart Starr trading cards on your bike spokes so yu could go vrooom. Then
when you got bored, you would rip the cover off your first-edition Batman
or Superman comics so you could make paper planes out of them. Dodo
was a knucklehead, not a wax(that's what your mom used on the hard-wood floors).

My first "job" was winding ferrite cores at Ampex. When completed they could store 4K of information and took one week to build. This was considered incredibly "high tech' since it was "solid state"

And the first hard drive I ever bought was 10 meg and cost five hundred dollars. It was for my Apple II. It had 4K of memory and would produce COLOR!!!:awesome: WOW!!

I just may be older than I feel.
