What Does MF Stand For?

There are some common acronyms you will pick up pretty quick: OC, WG, BF, MF, HD/3D, LSP, 2BM, ONR, WOWA, etc... But some guys make up their own. I tend to use the common ones, however, if I'm talking about "Scholl Concepts" I will type it out once or twice and then make it "SC".

Nothing is worse than when someone uses the wrong acronym. How do you know it's wrong? Because nobody understands what they are talking about.

I don't know what most of those are and I can't use search from my phone or tablet :(

I've a question regarding your comment regarding the "need a conversion table":
In some of the above examples (highlighted in red), that you have given: Are they really acronyms?

Scuba, radar, laser, NAFTA, NATO/Nato...These are abbreviations that are spoken like words: Acronyms!
(Hard to say that the same thing can be accomplished with: WGDGPS 3.0; BFWD; DGLS; or even MF.)

Good question.
This is from Wikipedia:

An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial components in a phrase or a word. These components may be individual letters (as in laser) or parts of words (as in Benelux and Ameslan).
Benelux = Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg
Ameslan = American Sign Language

IRA, SQL, FAQ are acronyms.

I understand DA to mean just that. I had trouble finding ONR.

By the way. You are right. MF Towels are Samuel L. Jackson's line of detail towels.

Samuel L. Jackson's M$%%er F%$^'in Towels!

You know: I should have titled this thread: Does Samuel L. Jackson Know What MF Stands For?

The etiquette in Journalism (AP Stylebook) is that the first time you use it in a story, it is spelled out completely and often the acronym is noted.

I used Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant (WGDGPS).

OK, so I once corrected some Random Isolated Deep Scratches ("RIDS") using Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 ("WGTSR") and Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 ("WGFG"). WGTSR and WGFG shall occasionally be referred to collectively herein as "the Twins."

I think I'd rather wade though people's abbreviations and acronyms instead of the kind of ponderous drivel I just wrote above.

BTW, I am kidding, and not necessarily making fun of the journalists; who have acronyms and slang of their own. Five W's perhaps? Bleeding and leading?
