I've used P21S to prep my paint before, but when I looked very closely in bright sunlight I could tell that it wasn't really doing anything for water spots or scratches. I'm a little confused about this product.

I followed the instructions closely but couldn't actually tell what it was doing. Am I that much of a newbie?

It is a wax. Has no cleaning power????

This is just formulated to remove old wax and very minor and I mean minor towel marks. It is made to just remove the old wax giving you a fresh base to start with.

But, but, but - the product says it helps remove water spots! Ah well. Thanks for your help.

Water spots from when you just washed the car before using the product...not ones that have etched in for a year.

never used a paint cleanser that would handle polishing duties. although this is my favorite cleanser.

It a great degreaser for cleaning engines, bugs and tar.If your talking about P21s total auto wash?

It does just what it says it does: its a gloss enhancing polish. It won't remove defects by hand. HOWEVER, it can remove defects by machine, as its a "pure polish" and any "cut" you get from it will be pad dependent.

In other words, the pad itself has some "cut". So, I've seen this product take take away some medium duty swirls with a orange LC CCS pad. As that pad is somewhat aggressive. Keep in mind its just as much what your using to polish with, as the polish.

That being said, if you used this product via machine with a medium / heavy polishing pad, I would bet my last $ it would take care of any water spots that aren't etched into the paint just from the mechanical cut of the pad.

Also, it leaves behind a glaze that can mask some defects and leave a glossy surface. The product also contains kaolin clay - which is a "filler", but may have some light abrasive properties as well.

Its a versatile product. I like it.

Thanks for the info! I was using it by hand - I kind of figured a polisher might work better but it's good to know for sure.

A polisher is my next big purchase.

Haven't tried it yet but every time I open my hood I think to myself, "This engine compartment could use a good cleaning."
