what dual action orbital polisher to buy???

I like my Griots Garage 6" DA especially like the 25' cord in most cases I do not need to use an extention cord either.

I have the older style PC7424 and the new GG6. I haven't had the chance to use the GG6 but from what I can tell from just turning it on the GG6 feels smoother, more rubbery in the hands, the handle gripe is nice touch (PC only has the side thing), less vibration even at full wick.

Purchased my GG6 from a online store and got the 25' cord. Don't regret it one bit. Will probably step it up to the FLEX once I get more time in this whole detail hobby.

I own both the GG and the PC 7424XP as well as the Original 7336. You will not go wrong with either. Its more of a preference thing.

I am in the same boat you are, I believe after all the research i am going to buckle down and get the flex 3401. i only want to buy just one that will do all my needs. I am not going to be in it for the business, but i want to have something that will be able to correct all issues with out burning the paint. I have read several articles on these machines. I do believe people it is a choice like other have said, depending on how much you want to spend, if you like the PC name, but for performance, and correction I would have to say the flex is top DAWG

it's a no brainer to buy the GG6 considering the power and warranty it offers (so many new great products that are geared towards DA's that make it more effective than ever). heck, if you purchase it from them direct, you have 180 days (6 months) to try it out and if you don't like it, you can get a refund or credit towards something else. who else does that...

Honestly, I am not sure the Flex is the right choice if you are only going to use one machine for hobbyist detailing. I have not used it, but, I do understand it has immense power and superior build quality. However, as far as I know, there are no 3 or 4 in backing plates availabe for it. IMO, 3 and 4 inch pads are critical to most jobs. Virtually all cars have small areas that just cannot be reached with a large pad without hitting something you dont want to. In addition to that, my understanding is that the Flex does not play well with Mf pads.

Personally, I would recommend buying the GG. Nothing against the PC or the MEgs, I just think the GG has the edge in power and warranty. I have been a GG customer for more than 10 years. They are a great company. You can later add smaller backing plates, pads and even microfiber pads. Thijs polisher will do anything the hobbyist needs and do it well.

Then someday, if you really get into polishing, you can upgrade to a Flex or whatever is the "Best" and use your old DA as a specialist like a dedicated 3 in machine.

I never thought about smaller size pads. Most of my vehicles are larger panels doors tailgates so I figured a flex was worth it. My first choice was the Pc. There are great packages with smaller pads. Plusmi know pc makes great tools. Most of my tools are Pc, it is such a hard choice

You are right. It is a hard choice because each one has its advantages. The bottom line is you wont go wrong with any of them. They are all good machines that will give you good results.

I had an old PC7424 first. I still use it for small pads. I love it.

I have the GG and it is light years ahead of the old PC.

I plan to make a purchase sometime this summer or fall. Cant decide between Flex 3401 or Rotary. Rotary makes the most sense, but, I might just buy the 3401 because of its performance.

i have been searching all of these units like crazy, i was really going to go with the pc cause they can do the smaller pads and they also have an attachment for a brush for the carpets but i have many ppl who have told me if i have the money to go flex. it is worth the money, plus i have been told it has more power cause of its direct drive for better correction, which i have some things that need fixing

HAPPY EASTER ALL:hungry:

I didn't feel like stretching another 150 bucks for a Flex when I went to purchase a new DA.

I'm sure the Flex would be wonderful but the +150 more, no lifetime warranty (I'm sure this is only true till end of the production cycle) but still better then one year got my vote. Not only that the ease of changing its backing to go from 6.5 pad ~ 5.5 ~ 4 ~ etc etc made it the better choice.

Still got my old PC7424 that I'll use for the smaller stuff now.

I have the PC, the GG 3" and a rotary. The PC works well. I got the GG to use mainly on headlights but is great for the smaller areas. I am planning on adding the Flex though.
