What have you REPURPOSED?

Free cart from the laundromat.

I was washing my car cover at a laundromat and a few of their carts had a bar going up overhead to the other side of the cart. I thought this would be awesome for used drying towels on calm days.

I cut old, worn foam pads into quarters and use them as tire dressing applicators.

Tire dressing sprayers. I have a kitchen trash bag full to the brim. Use to drive me nuts spending $4 on a sprayer and then having it give out after a few uses.
I haven't wasted money on those in over 10 years.

Like many here, started out with a PC 7424XP, then of course grabbed a HF DA on sale for like $30. I’ve since upgraded to fancier (ie real) machines, but the two originals still get used a fair bit, often salvaging long-neglected rims and tires. HFDA + aqua Cyclo + Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus = magic on years of caked on brake dust, metal fallout and grime.

The other day at work I noticed they were throwing out this little shop vac… I brought it home, put a lid on it, and I’m using it to sit on as I’m polishing my wheels right now.

I got a free little vacuum hose that came with it too.

Update: That thing is pretty useless… You still gotta lean over in sort of an awkward position in order to clean the wheels, plus who intends to spend THAT much time on a wheel? It’s sort of cool to be able to sit down, but I think it just slows me down…

Dont own a detailing seat? I have the grant HF one. Helps to be able to side to do wheels and such. But i still find myself getting up and kneeling to do part of the wheel sometimes.

One of the detailing guys at the dealer has one of those. Seems to be a pretty sturdy unit.

Yeah it is. I only use it with one side having the storage tray thing. If i have both on it i find myself chanking my leg off it. I didnt like at first that the seat pad fits on it kinda lose, but ive grown to like it cuz im always rippin it off to use as a knee pad

Is this the sort of seat you are describing?

I love mine, I'm sure there are better seats out there but these seem so well suited to detailing. I use the small pull-out drawer to hold my hose guides, finish a wheel, install a guide, move on.

My version didn't come with a padded seat, but I recently managed to find one from another branded version, much nicer now.

Yes, but mine is made by grant. Aold at harbor frieght. The end storage bottle holders are a bit larfer than yours and other brands. But is was cheaper as well.

How practical are the cup holders? Can you fit two supermega sized slushies in them?

This is a perfect time to bring up products and manufacturing. It's not always as obvious as this cart, but so many products are all made side by side in the same Chinese factory with just slight differences only to be name stamped for every company. Even seen this cart at Harbor Freight:buffing:
I bought mine when I thought it was original. Boy was I green!View attachment 76202

Griots had the bigger cup holders and cushion designed and 1st to market if I remember correctly. Now you can get same accessories con one at HF

Griots as far as I know is still only one with detachable mini creeper.

I use the mini creeper almost exclusively! Only time I have used it as it sit was doing headlights on a couple cars. Also I changed the locking wheels to both be on same side. They had it one on each and it sucked. It's better but I still want to get better casters to all locking.

I like the full size for polishing. Want the mini for wheels

I did the same with the locking wheels. With them both on the same side, you can pick up one end of the creeper and roll it on the other wheels without unlocking any of them.
